Can car move in first gear without accelerator?

I just saw a video of someone testing the condition of his transmission by engaging gears without stepping on the accelerator. When he engaged first gear, he released the clutch slowly without stepping the accelerator and the car moves.

I've always thought car will stall in first gear if we release clutch without stepping on the accelerator (I'm still driving a carburetor car).

So, can a car move on first gear without stepping on accelerator or does it depend on the engine's cc and fuel injection system.

Edit: I re-watched the video and the narrator mentioned the engine did not stall when he slowly released the clutch without stepping on the accelerator. I'm unclear if the car moved while in first gear without stepping on the accelerator.

Is Penang staring at a water crisis? Based on the calculation I obtained (from online volume calculator), the two 600mm temporary pipes that is going to replace the 1350mm burst pipe carry less than half of the volume that a 1350mm pipe carries. How are they going to support high-rise and hillside residence in Barat-Daya?

And then there's today's news about the depleting level at Air Itam Dam where it's less then 40% (link).

I hope I'm mistaken. Otherwise, a large part of Barat-Daya population is in for a long misery.

Spending eMadani

I just got my eMadani via TnG ewallet. My available balance just increased by RM100. How does eMadani control the RM100 is spent on participating merchants only?

For example, if I were to pay via TnG at a nasi kandar outlet, I assume it would just minus from my available balance without differentiating eMadani and my original balance.

Or there is no restriction and the eMadani can be spent on any outlets that accept Duitnow?

Has anyone uninstalled M2U?

I have been using MAE for few months now. So far there has not been any occasion where I have to revert to using M2U although the app is still on
my phone.

I was wondering if anyone has uninstalled M2U and if unistalling it has any effect on MAE on their phones.

In short, do I still need to keep M2U on my phone now that I'm using MAE?

Don't know if battery is 1300mAH or 1500mAH

I recently bought a 12v cordless drill for light and occasional use. I couldn't find any indication on the lithium li-ion battery that specify if it's 1300mAH or 1500mAH.

In future, if I need a spare or replacement 12v battery, can I buy either mAH? Is it safe to use either mAH battery with the drill?

36w fluorescent tube with 18w choke

I just replaced a faulty fluorescent light choke but used a 18w choke as the 36w choke was out of stock. I think the fluorescent tube (4 foot) is 36w as I couldn't read the faded markings. The light can switch on and I'm currently testing if it will trip the circuit breaker.

Is there any safety concern using a 18w choke with a 36w light tube?

Is it safe to use LED light tube with ballast?

Some time ago, I replaced my toilet's fluorescent light tube with an LED light tube by just removing the starter. I did not remove the ballast. The LED tube is still working to this day.

Is it safe to use the LED tube in this manner, with the ballast still intact?

Why some studio/soho unit selling below RM50K?

I was browsing some property listings when I noticed a few ads of studio/soho units with listing price below RM50K. Saiz below 350kps, single bathroom. Location around Jalan Kampar Barat, Kampar. The pictures shown appeared to be furnished with bed, cabinet, desk. I even saw pictures with air-cond unit and a fridge. Based on the pictures, the condition look reasonably good.

I'm ignorant when it comes to property wisdom. So is this the normal price given the size and location? Or is there a catch? Or the listed price is just to attract buyers but comes with many hidden costs/charges to be added on to the price later?

Do these type of units gets charged commercial or residence rate when it comes to utilities?

Keep getting Facebook Code sms

The past couple of days I've been getting sms "...your facebook code is..." along with an attachment to copy the code. I was cautious of the attachment and have been deleting the sms. I logged into my Facebook account and so far nothing is amiss.

Is this a scam trying to bait me to click that attachment or is someone trying to reset my facebook account password? If someone is trying to reset my account, what would be the point since the code to reset will only go to my phone number?

Anyone else has similiar experince?

When to Generate Secure2U?

On the login page of M2U app, there is a secure2u icon on the bottom right corner. When I click on this icon (even without logging in) it will generate a secure tac number.

My question is, when is such a number required?

Usually when I perform an online transaction, the secure2u will be generated automatically. So on what type of activity do we need to click on the secure2u to generate secure tac number?

**Note: I activated secure2u on my M2U app a long time ago. Currently I am still able to approve transaction via M2U. Therefore, I have not downloaded the MAE app yet.

Anyone bought toner cartridge online before?

I'm looking to buy a compatible toner cartridge for my laserjet printer. It's a home printer but seldom use. Retail price at a nearby mall is about RM80 but the prices online is less then RM20 (not including delivery charges) - quite a big difference.

I would appreciate it if members who has bought toner online before can share their experience. It would help me to decide where I should make my purchase.

What is the point of "Driver request to cancel"

When cancelling a Grab booking, one of the reasons listed on the app is "Driver requests to cancel". What is the point of this reason?

Will the driver's rating remain safe if he asks customer to cancel even though the reason chosen is "driver requests to cancel"?

Will the customer get charged a cancellation fee if he cancels using "driver requests to cancel" reason?

If driver's rating get down-graded due to this reason for cancellation, why doesn't the driver just cancel on his side instead of asking the customer to cancel?

Do Workshops Like It If You Buy Your Own Parts?

I have this impression that in addition to labour charges, workshops mark-up parts that they order for you. Does anyone here have experience regularly bringing their own spare parts to workshops for them to install? How is their attitude - masam muka or business as usual?

From experience, is there a big difference in price if you buy your own parts (common wear and tear parts like control arm, brake disc, brake pads etc)?

How to activate paywave with peace of mind?

I have disabled the paywave function of my debit card for a long time. This is because I fear in the event of an accident and I become unconcious, whoever has access to my card would be able to spend multiple times until I recover and well enough to contact the bank and block the card. I know this sounds paranoid but it's a concern I cannot ignore. My debit card is also my savings account ATM card.

However, I find paywave very convenient and am trying to find a way to overcome my fear.

Those of you that use paywave with your ATM card, do you ever think about such worst case scenario? How do you plan for such scenario?

Or is the safest way a standalone debit-card?

Tyre rim with slight dent

Went for balancing and alignment this morning. The worker mentioned one of my rims has a slight dent. I want to see how much it will affect the driving experience before considering changing the whole set. So far, after balancing and alignment, I did not notice anything unusual driving back. Haven't tested it driving at high speed but then again, since it's an old Kancil, I very rarely drive it at high speed. Mostly town driving.

Anything I should worry about with a slight dent on one rim?
