PSB Subseries 5i vs Velodyne CHT-10R

Hi guys,

ok, if there's another similar thread somewhere in LYN, I apologize for not being able to find it.

I'm planning my cheapo HT speaker setup and I've basically decided on getting the PSB Alpha speakers.

Front : Alpha B1
Center : Alpha C1
Surround : Alpha LR (might go for B1 instead so both front and surround use the same speakers)

The thing that I've not decided is the subwoofer which boils down to :

PSB Subseries 5i (~ RM 1850)
Velodyne CHT-10R (~ RM 1790)

Didn't wanna get the 12-R because its kinda expensive and my viewing space is not exactly big.

Originally, I had decided to go for the PSB Sub but the shop said I should go for the Velodyne instead.

Price wise, they're negligible.
Which would u sifus rather choose? They will be used for movies (80%), Games (10%) & Music (10%).

Thanks in advance!

RedHat Enterprise 4 on Dell PowerEdge 1900

Hi guys,

My company recently purchased a Dell PowerEdge 1900. It comes with 3 x 250GB SATA configured at Raid 5. I believe its connected to a Dell PERC 5i controller card.

Here's the problem :

When I boot up the server with the Redhat CD, it complains that I dont have any HDD..so I guess it doesn't have the drivers to support the PERC 5i. The installer gave me a list but unfortunately the PERC 5i is not in there.

I then proceed to use the Dell Server Management CD. This one is better, it has a wizard that lets me configure the partition on the Raid drive.. when everything is done, it prompts me to insert the Linux RedHat media. I did that but it spits it back out and complains that the media is invalid. Now i'm 100% sure the CDs are fine.

Does anyone here knows how I should proceed?

I called Dell support and they claimed that the Wizard will only work with DELL Supplied Red Hat enterprise CDs... and they're charging SGD 2000 for it. If I tell that to my boss, he's gonna kick my a$$.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!
Can u guys help me with these pictures?

Ok, I was out with my family yesterday and happen to chance upon this lady shooting her music video..so i kepo and took a few shots just for the heck of it.
What puzzles me is that why certain shots (esp photo 2), is so badly overexposed. Shots 3 & 4 seems perfectly fine to me. Picture 1 is slightly overexposed..what do u think? No extra processing done on the pictures.

Pictures 1 & 2 are shot with ISO800, 2&4 are shot with ISO400. All 4 taken with partial metering, Aperture priority.

#1

#2

#3

#4

Can u sifus tell me what did i do wrong to overexpose her face? ISO800?

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys,

I'm pretty confused as to how this should be set up.

Here's a summary.

Modem : DLink DSL-2540T

I've set it up to use PPPoA and bind a static public IP address (lets called it IP 1) to it.

Now my clients, using private IPs, behind this router (192.168.1.x) can connect to the Internet via this router (gateway IP : 192.168.1.1)

Here's the question :

How am I gonna use my 5 Fixed public IP (e.g IP 2, IP 3 , IP 4, IP 5 , IP 6).

I'm really lost.
Reverse DNS on Streamyx Corporate 5 IP account

Hi guys,

my company is currently using the corporate streamyx package with 5 fixed IP address. We're are using it to host 2 email servers.

Here's the problem:
I'm pretty sure I've had my DNS server set up and when i do a reverse DNS check on the IP addresses, they seem to work. However when i do a check on dnsstuff.com, the reverse DNS lookup fails. Now this is causing problems as some email servers will reject emails when they check for reverse DNS. Prior to Streamyx, we've been using Jaring lease line and the similar config file works.

If i remember correctly, the reverse dns has to be "enabled" on TMNET's end? I've give them a call at 1300889515 and as usual, all they do is pass around the call and end up nothing is being done. They claim that they're not responsible for such things. So who does?

Anybody here experience the same problem and point me into the proper direction? I'm totally lost.

Thanks in advance!!
