How can I strengthen and widen my Wifi signal?

This is probably the most common question that most of us will ask - how to grab wifi signal from far away.

For your information, I have Google, Youtubed many times before asking this to you guys but I still don't have a definite solution to my problem. So I hope you guys can share your solution or point me to one. So here goes...

My neighbor and I is separated by two homes between us. He's subscribing to Unifi 10mbps and I've got his consent to use his wifi at my home. The distance between us is I would say about 40-50 metre.

So I bought a router from TP-link, model TL-WR841HP that has these features:
- 2x9bdi detachable antenna
- 1000mW amp

Before that I've bought a generic 2.4GHz 25dbi WiFi Antenna For Wireless Router Outdoor Yagi Antenna (something like this link) to replace the provided antenna from my router.

I first try to connect to my neighbor's wifi using wifi extender option on my router using the provided 9dbi antenna. And to my maybe not that surprise, it works!

I'm pretty satisfy with the result actually because I can get almost top speed from a faint wifi signal.

BUT what's killing me is that, the speed and performance is not stable.

For example, if I want to access a website, most of the time it will take so many seconds to load the page - aka it's not loading instantly. Or close to instant.

The feeling is like my router try to connect with the host wifi, waiting for the 'gate' to be opened by some guardian or something, then the data will be allowed to go through after some 'inspection' (I supposed there is one...)

From what I understand at this time, if I use a higher gain antenna, like my 25dbi Yagi antenna that I also have, plug it in place of the provided 9dbi one, I'll have a more superior directional antenna that I can point to my neighbor's wifi and will have full signal connection.

I did that but to my dismay, that yagi didn't do anything close to what I dream of. It straight out didn't work!

So now I wonder, which part can I improve to get what I want...

Is it because my router don't have higher amp like 2W or more or something?

Did I got cheated on that generic yagi antenna?

Should I buy another hardware like ubiquiti bullet that has higher power amp, then use my yagi antenna as its antenna, and then connect it all using POE to my router?

Or should I just by another antenna but of a branded one?

I still don't quite understand all the jargon of wifi antenna like dbm, dbi at what not...

Or should I build myself a cantenna?

I also want to know what makes a wifi signal penetrate through walls and has wider signal?

For example, if I use the same 9dbi antenna, will it signal penetrate more walls and has wider signal when I use it with 2W wifi amp compared to 1W?

How can we calculate that?

I think that here is the appropriate place to post this. I need someone to help me download the latest Windows 10 Home 32bit ISO using Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I need this so that I can update my Chuwi VI8 tablet.

I don't have hi-speed internet personally so that's why I need someone's help to get it from me.

After the download is complete, the person can send it to me via postage using DVD. You don't need to extract the ISO, just burn it on a DVD.

I live in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. If someone here in Kelantan can do it for me then that's really great. You don't need to burn it because I can just copy the ISO to my pen drive.

I hope someone is willing to do this for me for a reasonable price. I really need this ISO. Thank you.

Extend Wifi with Streamyx Modem

Hi guys. I want to ask if someone knows how can I use my Streamyx modem to extend a wifi connection.

My situation is this:

- I have asked my friend just now about his wifi password because I remembered that I can get his signal when I'm at my house. I can't conform it right now because I'm away from home.

- If I do get the signal, I think it's on the weakest side because our houses are about 20-30 meter separated.

- And this is where I think my unused Streamyx modem will come to help. I can't give you the exact model and/or picture of this modem because like I said I'm away from my house and will be back after 2 pm or something. Then I will try to snap the picture of it and possibly find the modem model. All I can tell about this modem is that it's a wireless N modem.

- I've read something about using bridging option and set the wifi channel to match the one that you want to extend to. I think I've tried it before but it didn't work.

The question is, is it possible to use a Streamyx modem to behave as a wifi extender just like making use of Wifi Hotspot function on Android?

i wanna buy new GC (Radeon 4830 I-fan to b exact) n this baby use fan to cool only the proc. is it ok to not cool the memory also if i use it for intense gaming session? will the gc detect n slow down the memory clock if it too hot?

Ahhh I don't even want to type all this down! Damn u Windows 7!

OK, I've a prob with this so called XP replacement.. I just formated my PC from RC to RTM. But the problem is, a huge problem, all my files needed a permission to be accessed!! I know that I can change the permission to anyone but it's a freaking looooong and annoying process to do it individually to a folder or even files!!

Is there is any solution to automatically do it? I tried to use the main folder (the very parent folder, i dunno what it called...) to get back the permission, but 7 tells me that certain files can't be easily overtaken by that 'simple' process.

Also, what will happen with my files if I format the PC once again? Will I again need to take back the control of each n every files in my PC?

I hv this white Kancil for 2 years now n decided to make it a little monster on the road! But actually i don't hv idea on how to start as i totally newbie on this kind of thing. My budget is around rm1.5k. This is my plan of mod (from important to less important) :

1) Stickers (help me where to put them)
2) Stabilizing the car when cornering
3) Body kit
4) New paint
5) Interior design (mattress>dashboard)
6) ICE (speaker>cassette player)
7) Performance tweaking

Actually i don't wanna share my prob coz it's quite a shameful one. But then i think tat i'll regain my confident IF i ever hv 6 packs n ketulan berbisa.

So here's my prob..

I hv women-like breast. Yup it's quite a shame for me. Oh well... Although it's not as big as wat the woman hv, but when i wear shirt u know the condition rite?

Then i hv belly. I not taking alcohol.

Last one my arms r too thin for the body i hv. It include my fingers also.

To overcome this probs, i hv bought a dumbbell n has seek help from Uncle Google. But then not all parts of my body will be affected by using it rite? So can u guys make a plan for me so that i can hv wat u guys hv? N of course i don't wanna go to gym..

I really really wanna buy PS3 tis holiday. But i hv questions that still playing in my mind:

1) first, how many ppl here hv installed Linux OS on their PS3? I really like the concept that PS3 can act as a powerful PC. But from what i've read, it is pretty difficult to run Linux on it. After all, i'm stil newbie in Linux n am afraid if i'll brick my PS3...

2) I wanna play PS3 with LCD monitor. Do i really need HDCP-supported LCD to do that? X360 won't need it right?

I've come across play-asia.com and i really2 wanna buy their X360 core system. My question is, did i need to buy power adapter since the voltage for this japanese system is 110v whereas we r 240v?

I've read through so many forums on the net like this one discussing about how to change the appearance of the Windows from the themes, fonts, icons and what not. I noticed that there's a lot of people still do not know how to do stuff done by professional desktop modders (like me!! ;P).

To put things simple, i've decided to create a special website dedicating on how to do just that in a simple, easy to understand ways. So here i would like to know if anyone of you that would like to help me creating articles about softwares, informations and others related to desktop modding. I won't be paying you though... It's a project after all. But you can put your name in the article so that you can be recognised around the world, how bout tat?

We can have individuals or groups of people talking about specific software like WindowBlinds and what the coolest theme available and what not. For a start, I'll be creating an article for the intro.
