The Vibes

Prolintas to cut four highway toll rates by 8-15% from tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR – The toll rates of four highways under the Klang Valley’s largest urban highways operator, Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas), will be reduced between 8% to 15% beginning 12.01am on October 20 (tomorrow).

Prolintas said in a statement that the four highways with the new toll rates are the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh), the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), the Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway (LKSA), and the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK).

This toll rate reduction applies to Class One (vehicles with two axles, such as passenger cars and three or four wheels, excluding taxis and buses), Class Four (taxis), and Class Five (buses) vehicles on the four highways, it said.

Prolintas said the toll rates for vehicles in Class Two (vehicles with two axles and five or six wheels, excluding buses) and Class Three (vehicles having three axles or more, excluding buses) will remain the same.

The reduction in toll rates is part of the government’s initiative to lessen the burden of the people amid the rising cost of living, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on October 13, 2022.

“Prolintas is committed to providing the best highway service at all times, from the aspects of operations and highway maintenance to the travelling experience of highway users on all of its operating highways.

“The company will also continue to support government efforts that can benefit and give a positive impact on the people,” it said. – Bernama, October 19, 2022

MINISTRY OF WORKS RESPONSE ON DASH

The Works Ministry takes note that there are complaints of late payments owed to certain contractors for work done on the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH).

We understand that certain contractors are also affected by outstanding payments for the recently opened Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE).

For avoidance of doubt, the concession holders are responsible for all payments to the contractors - not the government.

In this case, the concession holders of the recently opened DASH highway and SUKE is Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd or 'PROLINTAS'.

Under the concession agreements, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) has the reg- ulatory power to audit the budgets for the highway and to intervene.

The Works Ministry will instruct LLM to immediately hold and mediate in meetings between the concession holders, the main contractors and the affected sub-contrac- tors who are still owed money for both the DASH and SUKE highways to ensure that all outstanding payments are settled as soon as possible as directed by the Prime Minister.

MINISTRY OF WORKS
18 OCTOBER 2022
