ipad2 video converter....need suggestion.

hye guys....
for those ipad2 users....i'm just wondering which is the best software to convert video for ipad2?? which software does most of u use?
i usually use AVS vid converter for my ipod but there's no preset for ipad and it can't convert to H.264HD format....
since normal H.264 format doesn't produce the best picture on ipad plus i'm noob with the bitrate n stuff so it's kinda frustrating..hehe. i tried the 720x480 resolution and stuff but....not really satisfied.
one more quest tho...i know ipad can play MPEG4 format...but why can't i transfer MPEG4 files into my itunes??? any help pls..
basically, if u guys know any software (preferably free ones) that can produce H.264 Hd... just let me know alright. thanx a bunch...

I'm contemplating to build a medium high rig.... but i need help..
these are some of my gonna-buy specs:-

Processor: ????
Asus P5Q3 (intel) or Asus M4A79 deluxe (AMD)
Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 2x1Gb
Ati Radeon HD4870 1gb DDR 5
BenQ G2412HD 24" full hd

Soooo....my only prob now is, which processor should i go for??... Intel Core2quad or Phenom II X4 ???
which processor can brings the best out of the system above??
it really helps if u guys can list the pro n cons for each processor using the system above....
hopefully u guys can help me decide here...thanx
