Cobra kills man while using rail trolley at Tenom

TENOM: A man died after being bitten twice on the head by a cobra while traveling with family members from Pangi to Kampung Rayoh on a railway motorcycle trolley, on Wednesday.

According to their guide, the family from Dalit in Sook, Keningau, were on their way to Kampung Rayoh for Christmas.

The villagers had resorted to using trolleys to make the 10km journey from Pangi to Rayoh following failure by the authorities to repair the tracks for many years. The ordeal of the residents there had been highlighted several times.

“During the journey, the trolley somehow hit the snake which bit the victim,” the guide said when contacted. He said the victim’s family rushed him to Beaufort Hospital but the victim died on the way.

The family killed the cobra which measured four meters and the guide described its girth to be “as big as an adult’s calf”.

The victim’s body was brought to his hometown in Dalit for burial.

Deposit refund with an expired rental agreement

Hey guys, I need your opinions and advices on this.

My cousins has rented a service residence in Subang, the first year rental agreement is from June 2020 until June 2021. There is no rental agreement renewal on the subsequent years, they stayed there until they moved out in July 2023.

When they asking about the deposit refund from the house owner, the house owner mentioned that she going to deduct below items from the deposit:

1. Cleaning fees RM200
2. Replace 4 lights RM260
3. Replace 2 power plugs RM80
4. Repair window RM100
5. Wall dirty - to repaint the living room RM550
6. Sofa RM600
7. 2 unit bedframe RM1050

The total amount of the deposit is around RM6,000 including utilities.

All the item 2-7 above has been mentioned as defects during the rental agreement signage and there are picture of the defects has been attached on the rental agreement. Problem is the rental agreement expired on June 2021 and there is no renewal after that. And I understood item 1 cleaning fees is not necessary.

What can we do to overcome this? Can we make a police report? or this need fight in court?

Meanwhile many passengers have been demanding their money back for flight cancellations.

The annual reports for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2020 (FY20) for AirAsia Group Bhd, now known as Capital A Bhd, and AirAsia X (AAX), show that Tony Fernandes and Kamaruddin Meranun received an annual salary of RM4.8 million each, while board members were given fees in the hundreds of thousands of ringgit, even as the airline dealt with the impact of Covid-19 following the worldwide freeze on air travel.

Meanwhile, according to AAX’s annual report for the financial year ended June 30, 2021, former minister Rafidah Aziz, who is a senior independent non-executive chairman, was paid RM401,500.

Other board members received annual fees ranging from RM150,000 to RM280,000 as well as meeting and travel allowances amounting to tens of thousands of ringgit.

The reports came as the carrier posted a series of losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In September 2021, AAX posted a record quarterly loss of RM24.6 billion for the April-June period, eight times more than the previous year. It was the airline’s ninth successive loss.

Last year, the group posted a net loss RM887 million for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2021, up 4% from RM851.78 million in the corresponding quarter in 2020.

AAX, meanwhile, faces the issue of refunds demanded by passengers whose flights were cancelled over the past two years since the onset of the Covid-19 crisis.

MalaysiaNow understands that many have yet to receive their money back.

In April last year, Fernandes assured some 450,000 customers waiting for refunds would get their money back, adding that AAX had been facing financial problems.

“AirAsia X is in deep, deep financial difficulty because it just hasn’t been able to fly anywhere. Plus it has had to deal with very unfair competition over the many years,” he said.

On Nov 12 last year, AirAsia said that its RM33.65 billion debt settlement scheme for AAX had been approved by 99% of its creditors through a vote at a meeting held that day.

“A lot has also been written about the classification of passengers as creditors. In a financial statement, besides being a shareholder, there are only two categories. A party is either a debtor if they are owing money to the company or a creditor if the company owes them money. It is clear that the company owes the passengers who have outstanding amounts owed to them, and hence the classification as creditors."

“We assure all passengers affected by the restructuring that it is the firm intention of AAX to put in place travelling privileges in the form of travel credits, which can be utilised for future purchases of flight tickets once international borders reopen on top of the 0.5% they will receive and other cash based entitlements based on annual revenue performance over three years as explained in the explanatory statement issued to all creditors recently."

“Please note that these entitlements and the travel credits can only take place if AAX is successfully restructured pursuant to the terms of the scheme. If the terms of the scheme are not complied with and the scheme fails, AAX will go into liquidation and the passengers will not receive anything in return. It is not the intention for AAX to place the passengers in this situation” it said.

On March 16, AAX in a separate statement said the company had lodged a sanction order for its debt restructuring with the Registrar of Companies with the formalities of the restructuring now completed.

It said the lodgement of the sanction order meant that the financial effects could be recognised in the financial statements of the company and that, as a result, AAX would be able to reverse RM33 billion in liabilities and provisions for liabilities which have been waived under the scheme.

“We thank everyone for all of their support throughout this difficult situation. This crowdfunding campaign will be another avenue for people to show their support. Crowdfunding for Thai AirAsia has opened via peerpower.co.th. The low minimum requirement for investment will enable retail investors to actively participate in the drive. The campaign also marks Thai AirAsia’s first foray into the new and increasingly popular funding alternative, which was recently approved by the SEC.

Proceeds from the crowdfunding campaign will allow Thai AirAsia to shore up its short-term stability. It will be concurrently maintaining its existing funding plan, which consists of a capital raising and a business restructuring of Asia Aviation Plc.

Animal's Leptospirosis

Anyone got experience with leptospirosis on your pets?

My dog was suspected with leptospirosis infection.

The history he bitten a frog last Wednesday. After that he get tired, vomit, diarrhea, blood urine and finally half back body paralysis.

Before he paralysis.

1st, went to clinic A and doctor only give physical medication. No injection.

2nd, went to clinic B and doctor said it is because the dog foods. 4 injections with physical medication.

3rd, thing getting worse and half his back body is paralysis. Went to clinic C, they suspected it is because of leptospirosis infection.

The Malaysian Association of Hotels responded by saying the practice locally was due to the standards held by some international chain operators.

Texas Teacher Allegedly Had Sex with 14-Year-Old Student and Paid Him $28,000 (RM 124,012) to Keep Quiet

Police in Texas have arrested a 27-year-old middle school teacher who allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student and then paid him $28,000 when he threatened to report her to authorities, PEOPLE confirms.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE state Thao “Sandy” Doan was arrested on Friday — 10 days after the boy’s mother allegedly called school officials to report an alleged series of sexually-suggestive text messages she found on her son’s phone.

Police allege the boy’s mother tracked the source of the text messages to Doan, who taught her son math at Raul Quintanilla Senior Middle School in West Oak Cliff.

School officials tell PEOPLE Doan was first hired by the Dallas Independent School District in the spring of 2014. She “was placed on administrative leave Jan. 10,” the district confirms — the same day the boy’s mother reported the alleged affair.

According to court records, Doan was confronted with the allegations and allegedly admitted to having sex with one of her students on three separate occasions between mid-2015 and December 2016.

Police allege Doan and the student began exchanging explicit text messages shortly before their first sexual encounter. Doan also allegedly sent the child photographs of her breasts.

Court allege contend the boy threatened to go to the police in January, 2016 — and Doan offered to pay the student for his silence.

After reviewing Doan’s bank statements, police allege she paid the teen $28,000 to keep quiet.

Doan has been charged with a single count of improper relationship between an educator and student.

She bonded out of jail over the weekend. Court do not identify her defense attorney.

According to police, it is unlikely the student will face charges for allegedly accepting money from Doan in return for his silence.

Issue playing video

I have issue when playing a video on quality mode, I only encountered this issue on certain videos (Which I need to switch to performance mode) and some of the videos is working fine although with quality mode.

It is totally working fine when I fully remove the NVIDIA GTX570 driver.
