Multinational Summits: Cannot do in Putrajaya ke?

Isnt the whole function of Putrajaya to create a centralized government centre? Got Putrjaya Convention Centre. Got big hotels around there also. The APEC meeting was done in Cyberjaya also. Both of these places are near to KLIA also, which has the Bunga Raya. So why not just do the ASEAN Meeting and other multinational Summits there and leave the rest of the country alone.

On a related note, I dont know what is the obsession of Malaysian with building multiple convention centres and then just leaving it to rot or just for to be used once a year. For instance, Shah Alam already got SACC and also IDCC and now MBSA has its own one which is built over the old Batu Tiga Race Track.

Anyone here using virtual office service?

Hi all,

Thinking of getting a virtual office for my small business, just to have a proper business address for invoicing and SSM stuff. Managed to go by with it before, but now the need has come for one.

I contacted a few providers already — some quite some time ago, but didn’t proceed back then. Now I actually need it. I don’t need office space or meeting room, just the address.

Pos Malaysia P.O. Box is around RM250/year, but not sure if that can be used for business address or tax purpose. Some of these “virtual office” companies include address usage in their package, but one of them wants to charge extra just to use the address, which is kinda weird.

Anyone here actually using these services? Any recommendations or things to watch out for (hidden charges, renewal issues, etc)?

Also, for tax/SSM purpose, I’ll need to update my business address right?

Thanks in advance. Just wanna get some real feedback before I commit.

BUDI95

How will you be using the BUDI95? Are you going to be taking out your IC everytime? Or are you going to link to any app?

I might end up using SETEL since I have been using that app mosty, but the only problems is than I would have to use petronas all the time. I suppose on the odd occasion that I need to fill up somewhere else, than kena keluar IC la. TNG still requires you to go to cashier, so a bit leceh also la.

Blocking Road with Khemah

I am sure most of us have got kena before where neigbour pasang khemah and block the road. Same thing happen to me recently. Pasang khemah besar and block the whole road. Tak ada inform put, bangun pagi da ada khemah depan rumah opposite.

Normally, if got leave some space or half a lane, boleh keluar masuk and all la. But this one end to end, cannot go thorugh. But I just keep quiet, to keep the peace. Now I am being accused of being jealous, tak suka orang lain enjoy (by my own family members).

As long as doesnt cause an inconvenience ok la, but dont la sampai block the whole road. Nanti ambulans ke bomba want to come how? Or maybe I am an old crank.

What is the function of KL Tower?

Just say someone posted about TM Tower (Pantai) and it just occured to me that TM also no longer runs KL Tower, which they used to. So, actually what is the function of KL Tower now? Other than the toursim and clutural what not la.

It was a telco tower at first, for TV and radio broadcast. But now TV is digital via Myfreeview and radio also digital. 5G and what not does not use KL tower, to the best of my knowledge. So is there any function? Genuinely curious.

Shopee Failed Delivery

I have been using Lazada exclusively for many years, mostly because the shoppe account I open had some issues (couldnt login). So I finally managed to get the account working and tried to order something for the first time.

Honestly, the vouchers and what not was much more generous than Lazada, the same item on Lazada cost almost RM 50 more.

So all is paid and done and the shop delivered (its a shoppe mall merchant). The delivery guy apparently failed to delivery 3 times, first time just saying failed to delivery and the other two insufficent time (both at around 7pm). The delivery hub is in subang and i am in Shah Alam. And now they are going to send back to seller. Quite dissapointing and it seems deliberate.

I actually had a few other items that I was going to get, but decided to see how this goes. But the way things went, I might just stick with Lazada (the local delivery guy is quite friendly and knows out place quite well).

Has anyone experinced this before? To be honest, I would have choosen self pick up if I knew this is what they would be doing.

Astro is pointless

Astro was already lacking content, now its trimming down even more.

Only reason we still have it is because orang tua kat rumah masih mau tengok, but honestly, I dont know what got already.

Warner TV, Food network, Animal Planet all sudah hilang. I mean it was barely anything, but at least was something la. The astro Movie channel keep putting on damn old movies. The tamil stuff all benda ambik dari youtube and put on as special show. Plus, last time at least can watch older episode on Astro go, now its only limited to the last two episodes.

Then keep on repeating old stuff again and again. Some shows were good la, but keep repeating it again for what?

Honestly, dunno why paying so much for. Potong content but still cahrging more and more. Its just becoming more of a hub for your streaming service where they are more of promoting the convience of subscribing to many services with one bill.

Sudah minta family potong sahaja tapi masih mau, but only see the drama which is also on disney plus. Burden by other peoples decision.

Repair Phone

I have a samsung note 10 phone that has got issues with the power button. Basicly, it does not work. The phone works fine; I can turn it on as long as I have a cable and PC.

Sent to samsung and they asked to change the whole moterboard for 600-700. Want to get second opinion, but not sure where. I don't trust the place that I bought from as last time they keep asking for IC for this and that. Perviously used to buy phone at DirectD, but don't know if they are reliable.

Any suggestion for reliable repair shop?

Private Hospitals jaga perut sendiri sahaja

I know it seems like something that is kind of obvious, but I just encountered this (not me but someone I know well).

Private hospitals will not treat you if they think you are critical or if it looks like things might get worse. They will even lie to you and lie to other hospital (private/gov) to try and get you transferred out their hospital.

The person went it for something mild but ended up showing signs of something worse to come. Hospital A bluff Hosptial B and the patients family that things are improving or hide certain details to get the person transferred; alasan: no beds here. Hospital B say oh boleh manage but try and scare you with cost, saying the cost can go damn high; this is fairlah, nanti jangan get heart attack looking at the bill. Butttt, somewhere in between Hospital B say if they knew situation so bad, they will not have accepted (even go so far as to fire Hospital A). Keep try to convince the family that gov hospital is good and got all facilities, so no need to worry. Say even we send to gov for complicated cases since they are very good (at this stage they still have not said how really bad the situation is).

Gov hosptial managed to find the problem is an hour what the private couldn't (or wouldn't or buat tak tahu). Time wasted by private hospital could have been used to treat the patient instead.

Moral of the story, if you think its going to be bad, go nearest place to stabilise and transfer to gov hospital. Also, private healthcare is always going to do whats is best for them first, not the patient, even sanggup to lie. Mind you these are not some unknown private hospitals, but chains. Pray goverment can solve public healthcare problems; but no faith in this as no one with political will, so go get medical insurance.

Samsung Note 10 Lite

I just sent my samsung note 10 lite in for repairs. The power button does not work. Before it kong, the volume buttons were also triggered randomly without pressing them, but somehow they have resolved, it just the power button. Everything else works. I even have a workaround using gestures to lock the phone without using the power button.

Samsung quoted me 600 to change the motherboard. Is it worth it to change? The phone is 3 years old. I still like the phone, but I don't know if it worth spending so much on repairing it. This was my first s-pen experince, and have since got samsung tablet with an s-pen and dont really use it on the phone that much.It was more of an impulse buy since I always was keen on a note since it came out.

FYI, I can use it without any issue, is just that the phone does use a bit more power and if it dies on me when I am out, I would need to find a PC to on in back (the workaround to turning it on without the power button is to connect the USB to a PC and press both volume buttons).

So, should I replace it for the price of a new phone? Thanks in advance

Just saw a recent post hear on listening to radio and read a few comments about favouring podcast over radio. Now mostly spotify and radio as well. Sometimes I do like the banter but just to many adverts nowday. Just got me thinking what podcast do people tend to listen to?

Used to listen to quite a few but not that much in the past two years or so. Mix of comedy stuff (the dollop) and football (BFM, but not since ross yusof passed on) and a bit of general stuff (freakanomics).

Anything intersting you guys listen to? Anything local perhaps?

Car Insurance

Have to renew car insurance soon. Currently covered by proton insurance program since its the first year.

I was shopping around, mostly on those that give an instant online quote. I noticed that Etiqa gives a quote of arond 300 less while other company like takaful, Tune, tokiomarine give around the same price, plus minus puluh ringgit beza sahaja. I choose the same coverage for all, basic coverage plus flood cover.

Probably going to go with etiqa anyway since their claims process was quite simple (did it couple years back for flood total loss, fairly quick; just had to drop off the copy of the docuement or post them, unlike takaful malaysia where you had to hand it in at the counter and got lot of noise on ini tak betul, itu tak betul).

I don't know why etiqa manages to give a lower quote. I am not complaining, just curious since all other company around the same price.

Any of you from shah alam, petaling area experincing murky tap water? Since yesterday, the the tap water has been quite murky. Even the filter does not seem to help.

Yes, I think its time I upgrade my filter, using the in house carbon filter system; but the water seems to be oddly murky. Biasanya if catch the water and leave for some time, the sediments will settle to the bottom, but this time even after an hour or so, the water remains the same.

I don't really know about water quality and stuff like that, but i know this is not normal.

Has the transformation of Selangor to Kelantan begun?

New boss issued a warning letter saying not up to performance. KPI not met. But previous years all exceed expectations. Given two months to improve otherwise will let go.

Just want to ask, is being issue a warning letter (titled peringatan) the same as notice? My contract says if want to let go, they must give me one month notice. So is this letter considered as a notice? Or must the notice specifically say we are letting you go, bye bye.

Active Safety vs Passive Safety

This is actually coming from the recent debate about the Daihastu safety manipulation. Was reading a thread on twitter arguing/discussing on this and I came across a comment saying that perodua is still better than other cars in their segement as they offer ADAS for a lower price point. A direct comparsion was given with proton saying the protons below 100k, ie persona, iriz and exora, only have Hi proton and nothing else, where else the perodua line of cars all come with ADAS, regardless of the segment.

While it is true that proton does not have active safety, it does have passive safety in the form of HPF for the locally designed cars and High tensile steel for the Geely based cars.

Active safety is better at preventing accidents but when one happens that is beyond your control then having a passive safety feature would be better.

I admits having both would be ideal, but for lower budget buys, where you have to pick and choose what you actually want, passive would be better.

This is not a proton vs perodua bash, but just an opinion on active vs passive safety.

My proton is up for service soon. Wanted to ask if had any recommendations on where should I go.

There is a thread in lowyat, but has not been updated in awhile.

This would be my second /6 month service. I previously did it at Rahman brothers in Shah Alam, where I bought the car. They overfilled the engine oil and when asked the SA just brushed it off saying it's normal and nothing wrong with it. Ended up removing the excess after I insisted. There was also another issue regarding the head unit, which I told them to check and get back to me, but they ended up ordering the part without running by me. Ended up was an issue with the setting but they insisted on changing the whole unit, which I refused.

Pendek cerita, SC tu banyak masalah dengan perangai.

So any other places, preferably near Shah Alam, but wouldn't mind going a bit out. Almost all the review I see are mixed.

Also, if it's up to me I would just but the engine oil and filter and ask my local workshop to do it, like I have been doing with my previous cars, but for warranty sake, terpaksa la.

Thanks in advance.

Using Grab Express for Picking Up Food Items

I have an event that is coming up and ordering food for it. However, the caterer can't deliver since its a small order and asked that I use Grab to delivery it to me.

I have not done this before and its kind of last minute for me to find any other place to do it.

So a few questions:

1) I have to select Grab Express, right? I did explore the app and asked the caterer as well. Will be selecting a car.

2) Are there any precautions I should take since its food items? The caterer say they will pack it in microwable containers and pack it well.

3) Would it be wise to make the Grab booking in advance? The event is on Sunday afternoon; so should I do the booking today?

4) Are there anything else I should know or look out for?

To answer in advance, no I can't switch to someone else since its a specific food type and also due to time constraint; No, the caterer has said they can't do the grab delivery for us; I am not sure if I will be able to go and make the pick up myself, hence why looking at using Grab to make the delivery.

Any feedback is much appreicated.

Rattling Sound From Passenger Door

I have a slight rattling sound coming from the passenger side door. It used to occasionally come and just closing the door a bit harder would usually do the trick.

I assumed the door was vibrating so I pasang those door gaskets, the one I got was for the B pillar section. Unfortunately, the sound is more prominent now.

I suspect it might be the window. Even when I rev the engine at idle, around 1500 rpm and at 2500 rpm, the sound comes.

The windows goes up and down fine, without any issues, no squeaks.

I am going to remove the gaskets to see if they are causing the problem. But if it is still there, I have to assume it’s the window.

So, is there any solution for this? There are no squeaks or anything.

I have my service coming up in less than 2 months, and I plan on asking them but the sound can be coming annoying at times. Plus, I am sure the SC will say it’s a common problem. FYI, it’s a proton. I had wind noise when going at 90+ km/h, and the SC just tried removing and reapplying the gaskets, to no effect. So, I can anticipate their response.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Disposing Engine Oil in Public Taman

I have a neighbour (not next door but same street) who repairs cars as a side income. Cars come and go, but I don't have an issue with it since the cars have not been in my way.

So recently, I saw them draining something with the car jacked up; I assume it is engine oil. The guy actually proceeds to pour the oil pan into the tree which is in the padang permainan in the taman, which is right in front of his house.

I am not a very neighbourly person, so I don't really mingle or mix around with neighbours, no real contact with this particular neighbour as well. Don't dare confront him directly, but this is wrong.

My question is where to go and complain. If its some minyak masak or something else also tak apa, but this is engine oil le.

Checked the DOE website, got link/portal to complain, but must input IC no. So got any other options allowing for anonymous complaint to be made?

Edit for context:

The guy does this part time. Usually on weekends got people come and go, but other days also got car left there. In my street itself got 3 people running workshop part time, 2 for car one for moto. But more to kawan tolong like that.
