Beware of Gurus, Fake Gurus and Scammers

= GURU =

Guru is derived from a Sanskrit term to mean a teacher, guide, expert, or master of certain knowledge or field.

Traditionally, the guru is a very respected figure to the disciple or student, with the guru serving as a counselor, who helps mold values, shares experiential knowledge as much as literal knowledge, an exemplar in life, an inspirational source and who helps in the spiritual evolution of a student.

A guru is also one's spiritual guide, who helps one to discover the same potentialities that the guru has already realized.

= FAKE GURU =

Fake gurus run businesses and sell online courses.

Fake gurus attract fake disciples. Cheaters usually attract the easy to be cheated! One doesn’t select a guru, rather one gravitates towards a guru who is the most suited to his present state of mental development. One can never be forced to become or pay to be the disciple of any particular guru.

Be aware that there are teachers for every level of learner. Not all teacher is the same - high school teacher is not the same as university professor.

Lastly, the student automatically gets attracted to the teacher that suits his needs best.

= SCAMMERS =

It comes in a package with fake gurus in any field of expertise for example - financial, investment, real estate, stocks.

HOW TO KNOW IF THEY ARE SCAMMERS:

1. The Lifestyle (expensive cars, overseas holidays, showing cash, tailored clothing, bling-bling
2. They say 9am-5pm job is useless and look down on working people who actually creates value.
3. Recorded video courses, pre-recorded courses, no face-to-face interactions and keep saying classes almost full capacity. Online courses (at the end of the year, there will be 50% or 70% discount)
4. Younger than 50 years old
5. Runs cringe YouTube or Facebook advertisements
6. Free eBooks/training/webinar - this will lead to sales funnel. This will allow them to get your email and eventually will get your attention
7. Dubious financial history, unproven net worth i.e. "starts with RM100, now RM1 million in 6 months" or "Now I'm financially free (but still sells online courses)"
8. Over use of the word "guru", "mentor" or "sifu"
9. No financial success after being a "student" of the guru, but keep on paying for additional courses or products.
10. Check with Securities Commission, Bank Negara, police and many more government websites, even if not black-listed. It is easier to reach out the these government agencies rather than trying to get back your money if they are really scammers.

WHAT TO DO if they display:

(a) 1 to 2 of the above items, maybe not a fake guru, but please investigate more

(b) 3 to 5 of the above items, please exercise caution, don't consider any payment or subscribe their courses

© 6 to 9 of the above items, avoid these people like the pandemic

(d) If fits well to all 10 of the above items, please let me know. I would love to interview them.
