Wondershar VS WinX

alaaa — Thu, 28 Jan 2010 16:29:24 +0800

Are you searching for DVD converters to backup your great DVDs into your PC or enjoy DVDs on your portable devices such as iPhone? Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum and WinX DVD Ripper Platinum could be the one which you are searching for. You may ask which one is better of the two. A professional CNET author’s article may help you to choose. I generalized main points of his article below. But you also can directly check the article here:
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10438934-233.html

1, Functions
Both Wondershare and WinX give you an abundance of conversion options. Wondershare enables you to preview selected track, and WinX can automatically read the currently inserted DVD. With Wondershare, you have to point it to your DVD drive. But with WinX you can’t preview the selected track.

2, Easy-to-use
WinX DVD Ripper Platinum is easy to use, suitable for all levels of experienced users. But, definitely, wondershare has the snazzier, easier-to-use interface. The interface for Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum is organized well, across the top are some drop down menus, but for the most part you don't even need to worry about them, everything pertaining to your DVD and video is below. It looks very soft, friendly and with beautiful color.

3, Converting Speed
Tested 2 DVDs: "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" and "Back to the Future"
Based on a quad-core AMD processor with 6GB of RAM

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum blazed through "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" in just over 15 minutes, an amazing time. Wondershare DVD Ripper platinum took nearly twice as long (about 27 minutes) to complete the same job. Likewise, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum finished "Back to the Future" in just 22 minutes, while Wondershare spent 48 minutes on it. Actually, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum is much faster.

4, Price
WinX DVD Ripper Platinum: $29.95
Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum $39.95
WinX DVD Ripper Platinum is $10 cheaper than Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum. But, Wondershare is known and used by more users.

The author also mentioned free solutions on ripping and converting DVDs, such as HandBrake, but it can’t rip protected DVDs unless you pair it with increasingly outdated third-party tools.

Now, do you have a choice?

EDITOR’S RATINGS:

User Interface: 5-Star
Features: 5-Star
Ease of use: 5-Star
Pricing/Value: 5-Star
Overall: 5-Star

Here is a part of reviews from the softpedia editor-By Ionut Ilascu,13th of August 2009, 14:57 GMT. Hope can give you guys some help.

“The Good

The application offers a 3-step way to convert your movies between the most popular video formats on the market: AVI, MPEG, WMV, MP4, FLV, MOV; and it is also capable of extracting the audio track and save it as an MP3 file.

Seek bar in the movie preview window lets you adjust the beginning and end of the video and convert only that piece. You are also given the possibility to adapt the settings for audio and video so that they fit your standards.

The Bad

We noticed a typo in the initial screen of the application, which, of course, does not affect the conversion process.

The renaming of the output data is a shortcoming we were not expecting. It would have been nice if the application had preserved the name of the input video and not give it a number for a name.

The Truth

WinX Video Converter is free of charge and can be used for as long as you want with no restrictions. Apart from the typo and the naming of the conversion result into number, WinX Video Converter does a fine job. It is reliable and pretty fast on the job, with no hassle at all.

Experienced users have a chance at altering the default values to adapt them to a convenient result, while beginners can leave it all to default. The outcome has good quality but it depends heavily on the input.”

How to choose DVD converter to convert DVD to AVI

alaaa — Wed, 19 Aug 2009 16:15:31 +0800

how to convert DVD to WMV is not a question any more. The question switched to how to choose a best DVD ripper to convert DVD to AVI.
There are at least six factors should be taken into your considerations, including:

1. The ability to convert DVD to AVI. This of course should be the first factor we should think about.
2. Output video quality. I guess no one like watching obscured videos after spending his valued time to convert DVD.
3. Speed also. Time is especially important for modern people. So DVD ripper with fast converting speed is what users are pursuing for.
4. Price. For many users, this might be the first thing they care. And most of them prefer DVD ripper freeware to solve their problem.
5. Clean. No virus, adware, spyware, etc.
6. Advanced functions. For advanced users, they also would like to try the advanced feature to make a stylish video, such as adding subtitle, adjust parameters, change video file size, trim video segment, and so on.
Conclusion, a powerful yet free DVD ripper with high quality and speed is the right one.WinX DVD rippermight be the best choice for you to fulfill all your needs.
