KUALA LUMPUR (May 29): Sunway Construction Group Bhd (KL:SUNCON) has secured two work orders valued at RM1.16 billion to undertake general contractor services for two data centre projects awarded by a US-based technology company.

The projects are scheduled to begin immediately, with final completion targeted for February 2027, SunCon said in its filing.

SunCon has secured RM3.5 billion in new orders so far this year, representing over half of its 2025 order book replenishment target range of RM4.5 billion to RM6 billion. Consequently, its total outstanding order book has increased to RM7.9 billion.

“The projects win further expand the group’s order book for the year and fortify earnings visibility over the next two years.

We are confident that this positive momentum will continue in the current financial year, underpinned by accelerated progress on data centre projects and a robust outstanding order book, including newly secured projects,” said SunCon managing director Liew Kok Wing in a separate statement.

The contracts were awarded to its wholly owned unit Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB). The identity of the awarding company was not disclosed.

SunCon shares closed 12 sen or 2.02% lower at RM5.83, valuing the group at RM7.55 billion. Year to date, the stock has gained nearly 26%.

Have anyone experienced slippery and wet roads on our Malaysian roads?
This causes accidents as the tires you use may not have sufficient friction.

Many times, we blame this on the misconduct of the driver and maintenance of the tires.

BUT, there are different factors which most of us ignore.

The level of friction is largely influenced by the pavement surface aggregates micro texture, macro texture, and drainage attributes.

ROUGHNESS INDEX is a function of the smoothness of the pavement, comfort and its safety to the road user. The surface texture depth as a measure of the macrotexture of the road surface and skid resistance, are often mentioned as possible contributory factors towards the incidences of road accidents. The macrotexture is the coarse component of texture due to the shape of aggregate particle on road surface, and it is a determining factor for skid resistance on bituminous road surface. It is pertinent to note that in bituminous surface is characterized by the resistance to polishing (PSV) of the aggregates or microtexture. The measurement of the macrotexture is most commonly estimated by the use of the sand patch tester. The skidding resistance is a measure of the friction generated between a pavement surface and vehicle tire.

Skidding occurs when the available friction is insufficient to counter the forces imposed by a moving vehicle. The available friction depends upon the microtexture and
macrotexture of the road surface, the properties of the tire, vehicle speed and weather conditions.

I'm starting this thread, to pinpoint all locations, which I am damn certain, has bad engineering of roads. With the intent to compile all and submit for JKR to check upon.
