Dealing With Violent Threats At Workplace

Hey fellas

I'm working in as an engineer in an oleochemical company in Johor. I've been working there for 10 months and previously I worked for a soap company in Johor for 2 years and 10 months.

Since last week I've had to deal with Plant shutdown and I've never dealt with before on my own. As such, I made rookie level mistakes with things like planning and execution and consequently I get scolded for it by my mentor.

Part of this task involves dealing with technicians from other departments such as maintenence and electrical. Initially today around 9am I called the electrical technicians to remove wiring at a location. Then at around 2pm I called them again to remove wiring at another point.

When they arrived around 2:30pm I was busy elsewhere with cleaning duties and suddenly there was a loud knocking noise. My mentor told me to check if someone had accidentally turned on the boiler and when I rushed to the control room, I met the electrical technicians who arrived and I told them to wait while I settled the boiler issue.

After the boiler issue was done I went back up to meet with the technicians. They shouted aggressively that I didn't respect them and I called them but didn't layan them. I replied that I had to attend the emergency at boiler first. In response one of the technicians shoved me against the staircase and told me if I was outside they would have beaten me while the other technician told me that they want to settle it outside.

I complained about this to my mentor who complained to the technician's boss. Unfortunately this incident happened at the staircase which had no CCTV and both technicians covered up for each other so in effect they got away scott free.

I know that I'm making rookie mistakes which is why I get scolded by my mentor but I don't mind that. What I do mind and where I draw the line is people putting their hand on me and threatening me with violence at workplace.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I can escalate it to HR & management it'll be the word of two electrical technicians who've been at that company for a long time versus an engineer who has barely been there for a year.

I'll say that I've lost interest in working for this company, where it's possible for people to shove others and threaten them with violence and get away with it. The thing is in this current climate jobs aren't easy to come by.

Hi, I'm looking to buy a laptop for the following uses (I don't have space for PC):

1) Media consumption - Watch documentaries (I love CuriosityStream), movies, read ebooks.

2) Gaming - I play RPG games such as Skyrim, Witcher 3, Dragon Age, Outer Worlds. In the future, I'd like to play Cyberpunk 2077.

3) Productivity - Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
