Certs for engineering fresh graduate?

Hello sifus, I'm writing this for my friend who doesnt have an account here but I suggested to him that this place might have some useful advice. What certs could my friend who is an engineering graduate get to make himself more attractive in order to get noticed in the job market?

I'm a business student so I couldn't give him much advice regarding the engineering field.

Do I need to mail this letter with my infos back and then pay or what?

Particularly Mechanical engineering.

I'm currently a student with a lot of free time and want to use this time to self study new skills.

I know that AutoCad and Excel VBA is used a lot but what are some other softwares that I should keep in mind for learning purposes?
