Streamyx webmail warnings on DMCA/Copyright

I'm just wondering if anyone got DMCA/ US Copyright infringement notices sent to your streamyx webmail account email?

If you do, is it from dlding frm torrent or direct download?
If its from direct download, which server is it from ( eg, Megaupload, rapidshare, etc ).

I'm trying to gather some info on what type of "safe" dlding methods which are (still) not tracked by the copyright police...

Resetting Modem + Router for fresh IP

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Streamyx RM88
Location: PG
Have you called your ISP's helpline?:

Personal equipment
I'm on Mac OS X
Modem: Linksys AM300
Router: Airlink
Firewall used:

Problem details
First occurence of problem:
Problem frequency:
Problem description:

I've always used the "hard reset" method by simply powering off my modem + router to get a new IP address ( every time I reached the DL limit on those file sharing sites ).

I hope there are some experts here that could share with me, is there another "soft" method ( accessing my router thru web browser, etc) that I could do it ? Is it better for my modem & router that I use a soft method rather than a hard reset ? ( FYI, I typically have to reset my IP at least 10 times or more daily ).

My previous modem ( the no-brand made-in-china one) supplied my telekom worn out after 4 years of use. I've just gotten a brand new Linksys modem, and hope to extend its lifespan...

Avoid traffic shaping/bandwidth throttling

My background info:

RM88 1Mbps package
Past Month Bill total usage : 72GB
Downloads ctivity time: 7.30 am - 11pm daily.

BT client: Azureus 2.2 on Mac os X
Recent ( past 2 weeks ) avg DL speeds ~12.5KB/s
Previous ( past 3 years) avg DL speeds ~50KB/s

DDL (direct downloads) via Megaupload
Recent (past 2 weeks) DDL ~ 8KB/s
Previous ( past 3 months ) DDL ~80KB/s

As you can see, I've recently experienced a huge drop in my DL speed both via BT and DDL.
After spending a few hours reading & browsing through LYN's p2p forums, I'm suspecting that
I'm a victim of bandwidth throttling, although I'm not 100% sure. That's because I've read one post that pointed out that BW throttling will make your DL speed "flat", not spikes & dips. I'm still getting spikes and dips at ~12.5KB/s.

Also, if BW throttling affects just BT, I'm not entirely sure why my DDL suffers the same fate ? This is hard for me to determine if the DDL slowdown is caused by streamyx limiting my bw or the site ( megaupload) itself is starting to choke the free user. Anyone seeing the same effects as me?

I found some articles below that claims how end to end encryption could counter BW throttling. anyone tried it yet? I have yet to try it out myself as it requires Azureus 2.4 and above. ( I'm reluctant to upgrade from 2.2 as previously when I did to 2.5, it crashed horribly.)

It's rather difficult, although not impossible for me to try out xunlei as first off, I'm not a windows user, and 2ndly, I'm not chinese literate.

I hope I can get some input/feedback from BT & DDL streamyx users.

References:

BitTorrent End to End Encryption and Bandwidth Throttling - Part II
February 16, 2006
Thomas Mennecke
http://www.slyck.com/story1098.html

Avoid traffic shaping
http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Avoid_traffic_shaping
