Cool Weather Recently. Cool Summer This Year?

Hi all,

Last December was exceptionally hot, then Jan cool, Feb very cool, March cool… ok, it started getting humid just a few days ago though.

AI & weather forecasts say La Niña will not make summer cool in Malaysia, but so far so good.

Anyone knows better? Or anything heard from elderly people who lived longer and knows better about weather by experience?

iTrade CIMB Platform Very Confusing

Hi all,

To me CGS iTrade CIMB platform is very confusing (terms are quite ambiguous to understand) and not functioning very well. I also use IBKR app, which is very good to use and also very clear and easy to understand.

I called the iTrade center and they said to use DEMO to learn how to use app.

ITrade users, do you have no problems with iTrade app?

Any services have better platform/app in Malaysia?

Used Cars Not Cheap Malaysia

Hi all,

Here used cars are not cheap. Last year model is only 15% cheaper than new cars.
Then would it be better to go to an air-conditioned show room and experience buying a mint fresh car? Rather than going to a second hand car garage which is filled with all sorts of second hand cars.

What’s your opinion?

Their health is ok. Their children live nearby. They want to live independently on their own, having their own kitchen, living room, etc, not sharing with adult children. They don’t want to buy a house. They hire a part time maid.

Stray Cat Neutered & Devocalized, normal?

There are two stray cats I found in neighborhood.

One is only neutered, but the other is both neutered and devocalized. I understand neutering but having being both neutered and devocalized is too much and unnecessary. Performing both surgeries for stray cats, is it normal and frequently practiced?

My parents are moving out of a rented landed house after living a few years. They received written request before moving out.

The landlord asked to clean all including AC and solar panel on roof. I understand AC but I never heard of cleaning solar panel. Is it normal? Solar panel should be cleaned by tenant?

What's the cost of cleaning solar panel? This is a 2-story cluster house.

In Malaysia if I buy MAYBANK, then do they pay the amount of dividend to my investing account? or do they pay check or wiretransfer to my bank account?

In USA if I buy EXXON (for example), how can I get the dividend? by check, or directly to my investing account?

Virtually every night and everywhere. In the streets. But there are no flowers nearby as far as I know. The scents of this flower must be very strong and travels far.

I guess these little white flowers of shrubs. But I don't know the name.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 — The current Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of lockdowns have increased data usage as most people are required to work or learn from home. According to Opensignal’s latest report, Malaysia has come up on top for having the highest growth in mobile data consumption year-on-year from 2020 to 2021.

Using January 2020 as the baseline, average consumption in Malaysia has increased to 14.6 per cent in March and 30.7 per cent in April 2020. As a comparison, other Asean countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia had reported 14-20 per cent growth in the same period versus January 2020.

Interestingly, mobile data consumption in Singapore had dropped by approximately 22 per cent. This tells us most Singaporeans would probably rely on their fixed broadband service instead of their mobile data during their lockdown period.

YouTuber US Withholding Tax 30% June 2021

YouTube creators outside of the US under the YouTube Partner Programme will have taxes deducted from their US earnings as early as June 2021. According to YouTube, these are earnings from viewers in the US through ad views, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Channel Memberships. The tech giant explained that it has a responsibility under Chapter 3 of the US Internal Revenue Code to collect tax info from all monetising creators outside of the country and withhold taxes in certain instances when they earn income from viewers in the US.

In a support page, YouTube said creators will need to submit relevant tax info in AdSense by 31 May this year so Google is able to determine the correct amount of taxes to deduct, if any apply. Failure to do so will result in Google having to deduct up to 24% of the creator's total worldwide YouTube earnings.

On the other hand, if the tax information is provided, the withholding rate for creators will be between 0% to 30% of monthly US earnings. The tax holding rate will be made available to creators via their AdSense account once their tax information has been submitted. According to the tech giant, the withholding rate depends on whether the creator's country has a tax treaty with the US. Treaty benefits can be claimed as long as the creator provides a taxpayer identification number.

A check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE on the US Inland Revenue Service website showed that US does not have tax treaties with Singapore and Malaysia but does with countries including Indonesia, China and Australia. Under the tax treaties, the IRS said residents (not necessarily citizens) of foreign countries are taxed at a reduced rate, or are exempt from US taxes on certain items of income they receive from sources within the US.

For example, if a creator in India earns US$1,000 in revenue from YouTube in the last month and US$100 was generated from US viewers, a final deduction of US$240 will be made if the creator does not submit tax info. If the creator submits tax info and claims a treaty benefit, the final tax deduction will be US$15, since India and the US have a tax treaty relationship.

Meanwhile, if the creator submits the tax info but is not eligible for a tax treaty, the final tax deduction will be US$30 because the tax rate without a tax treaty is 30% of earnings from viewers in the US.

Penny stock manipulation & short selling?

I really didn't take a look at penny stocks since I was not sure if there were opportunities for me.

Recently I got to know someone who owns a listed company of which share is about RM 0.25. A few years ago their stock soured up to rm100 and right back to 0.20 level. Newspaper said the owner couple and board members were investigated. So is this type of parabolic stock manipulation commonly practiced?

M+ says short-selling is possible upon approval. Not sure if they have penny stocks to lend though.

Curious.. still not sure of shorting due to the fees.
