Need Tech Support help to repair Dell webcam

Hi all,

I have a Dell Inspiron 13"5xxx. My webcam is not detectable.

I invoked "Camera" app in Windows 10.
It says "We can't find your camera".

Check to be sure it's connected and installed properly, that it isn't being blocked by antivirus software and that your camera drivers are up to date.

If you need it, here's the error code 0xA00F4244 <NoCamerasAreAttached>

I've done the antivirus thing and my drivers are up to date. I suspect that the cabling inside could be disconnected/ detached, but I really do not know how to dismantle the unit to access these internal cables or secure them. Therefore needing help.

Could anyone share a PC support/technical person/shop that I can get some quick help by just checking if the cable behind the screen has been loose?

If I press the webcam against the PC cover itself, I could sometimes get the camera working - so I suspect it is really a connection issue (loose) rather than the camera itself gone to heaven.

Appreciate advice/contacts for help.

I am in Subang - so anywhere near would be great. *thanks

And happy new year

Dell webcam repair

Hi All,
I have an Inspiron 5370 and my webcam is integrated with the system.
I wanted to know if I can get someone to help me repair my notebook, reliable and reasonable. Covid 19 = really don't have a lot of money to spend.

My webcam comes on/off, and the softwares (e.g. skype, team meet) detects it on and off. It flashes on and off, but eventually, it shuts off, and software decides to post "not detectable".

I think the part has contact issue, and need to have a look or replace.

Is there anyone who i can text to seek services for repair?
Location : Subang, Selangor.

Thanks a bunch.

Device name : HPDesktop 4390 (eventhough actual product is Inspiron 5370)
Intel i7-8550CPU
64 bit, W10 home.

Hi all,

I have a Iomega Zip 100 Drive and I have 3 x 100MB disks.

If memory serves me right, there's nothing left in the 3 x 100MB disk.

I'd like to give these away, but before I do, I hope to be able to find someone who can connect this disk drive into a parallel port and have the right software for me to read if there are anymore info on the disk.

Does anyone know where I can get help (someone who has MS DOS and probably a parallel port, and I cant remember if it need a driver to load the disk drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

THank you.

If there is a paid service to just read the disk, I'm more than willing to travel to verify any data on disk.

Cheers,
I'm based in PJ.

19-8-2020, 8.45pm

Looking for cybersecurity expert

hi,

we have a situation where we need to hire someone who can help perform some cyber security tasks on a network, and requiring full P&C / NDA on the matter.

Anyone who has done ARP spoofing/MITM via wifi would qualify for this piece of work. However, this is a very specific network, and the router can be remotely managed - therefore, consideration will be given to those who can perform this remotely.

if you know of any one interested, pls pm me.
thanks

Buying Retail Property

Brothers,

I am in the process of buying a retail property for investment.

I went to the bank's lawyer office yesterday, and was told that the bank requires a statutory declaration signed, to say that the retail property is only for own use.

Now, why would the bank want me to sign such a declaration? As usual, I got the "this is standard" from the lawyers.
Can anyone explain why the bank requires purchasers to sign such a statutory declaration?

D.

Is there really a SOHO market out there?

Hi all,

I hate to play the devil's advocate...but supposing this is true....

There's so many SOHO units available in the market today. The uptake seems to be un-ending with everyone wanting to buy into SOHO for investment.

My interpretation of investment will be for capital appreciation or for rental.

For capital appreciation :
Who would be secondary buyers for SOHO apartments when there are so many SOHO units flooding the market today?
Besides, can SOHO business owners afford to buy these apartments? And if they can't afford, they will rent. Which leads to the next point....

For rental income :
Is there really a group of people out there wanting to rent a SOHO unit for their business? Who are these people?
I've talked to many people, and all I heard is "buy for investment". So, far I've not heard anyone who says, "I want to set up SOHO or I want to rent a SOHO unit."
Too much supply, and too little demand?

I'd really like to ask the participants of this forum, how many people they know, are potential tenants for the SOHO units they buy? Wanted to verify if my perception is real.

Has anyone actually done the homework to verify if there is a huge mass of people out there who are willing and ready to be your tenants?

Some say it's a lifestyle of the future. "The future" has a time factor to it. The question is do buyers have holding power, if "the future" hasnt arrived yet.

...Any thoughts?

Unifi issues : Distributing tel line and existing

Hi all,
I've just installed Unifi @home and am looking for help from those who have knowledge on Unifi vs alarm systems.

The Unifi system comes with a new phone line. Existing TM phone line is recommended to be disconnected (account closed) unless you want to pay for two land lines from telekom.

With the Unifi telephone line now up and running, I have two issues that need help.

Issue 1 : Connecting Unifi line to Tel distribution box.
=========================================

1. My original land line is connected to a central distribution box (those small yellow matchbox size thingy) in the ceiling/roof, which then span/splits into 4 locations around the house. Upstairs, downstairs, kitchen, alarm system.
This means, that when someone calls my old TM line, 3 phones ring at the same time. (alarm system use that line to call out - more about that later..)

2. If I disconnected the existing TM/Streamyx copper line account, my current 3 phone lines (and the phone jacks in the walls) will be white elephant.

3. Right now, with Unifi providing only one phone line, and in a double storey house, we either run/up and down when the phone rings. Not sustainable.

4. I need to connect the Unifi phone line to the central box in the roof to enable simultaneous ringing of the phones already installed around the house.

5. I have problem doing this, because the new Unifi phone line originates from the new Unifi box located downstairs.

6. Besides, I do not know if Unifi phone line signal is strong enough to support a "distributed" connection.

7. I am writing to see if anyone has any experience with this issue, and what they have done about it. Any lessons learnt shared will be much appreciated.

Issue 2 : Compatibility btw Unifi tel line with current alarm system
==================================================
The existing alarm system works with TM's copper line system.
I have requested security vendor to evaluate how to connect Unifi tel system to existing alarm, so that we can receive a "dial out" notification if alarm triggers.

1. Vendor says whole alarm panel must change bcos existing alarm system not compatible with Unifi line. Approx RM1500-1800.

2. Vendor says Unifi phone line wire (from the fibrehome or ZTE VDSL unit) must be connected to the alarm panel. (so if you place your VDSL unit next to the TV bcos of proximity to your TV for IP TV function, you will find yourself scratching your head on how to lay a telephone cable from your TV cable to your security panel, which is definitely not next to your TV!!).
RM xx??

3. What if you do not wish to pull the line? Ans : Vendor also suggested using installing a new GSM module (provided by the security vendor) into the existing security panel. This will require you to buy a Digi/Hotlink prepaid card and insert the SIM card into the module, for the module to "call out" when alarm triggers.
Approx RM900-RM1000.

4. I am interested to know what are the experiences out there, and what are your "other options" I may not have considered.

Appreciate your sharing.
Rgds.
Looking for help on QQ

Hi,

I am a BB Curve user - and have been trying to find a way to install QQ application (www.qq.com) into my phone.
I can read little bit of Chinese, but am much more familiar with English.

I use it for family connection reasons - and i need to connect using QQ because in China, the app is very very popular.

My first priority is to find a QQ application I can use. My second priority is to find an English based QQ application (where I can switch to Chinese PinYin to communicate).

So far, I cannot even find a proper QQ application I can install into my Curve. The closest I got to (after much searching thru the internet, and translating many Chinese characters, is Instango). I have actually installed this software into my phone, but for some reason, it does not work.

When i say "it does not work", i mean that i cannot even sign on to QQ after keying in my userid and password. Using the same technique, I can sign on using Yahoo Messenger, Hotmail, google talk etc.
I don't know why i can't sign on QQ using Instango. Because I can't sign on, naturally, i cannot communicate using QQ thru the installation of Instango.

I have tried to search for an app that can support QQ.

If there's any kind soul out there who can help me, I would be very very grateful.

Does anyone know of any other option i have to communicate with China relatives? Is there a long distance prepaid scheme that I can subscribe to? I hear that there's a Digi service (010) that can allow me to do so, but I have asked numerous shops in Summit Subang today, and all of them told me they don't sell.

Appreciate any response.
Thanks.
