copied from Security n Privacy thread

QUOTE(blaserjagdwaffen @ Nov 28 2006, 01:40 AM)

Ok. Here's the deal

One time, my friend came to me and asked to clean his thumbdrive. After i scanned his thumbdrive (using AVIRA AntiVir, updated daily), nothing infectious virus found. So, I tried browsing the folders. Saw a folder which might contains our work-related files, I quickly double click that folder to open it. After that then I realized it was an exe file. Hoh!

Then my pc was infected too. Haha, silly me. Then, I tried kaspersky online scanner, and I found out that it was infected with Worm.W32.AutoIt.c. Tried to find removal needed, but none was found. Later I installed kaspersky 6.0

It detected and I deleted it right away. But in scanning my PC though, it detected that rvhost, exe was also infected. Without knowing the existence of rvhost.exe in my PC, I deleted it without hesitation. Scanned whole PC again, none found. Problem solved.

When I restart my PC, pop up appeared. It says, rvhost.exe was not found. Eh? Was it a process that needed to be run in startup? When I tried to run task manager, it says, it was disabled by admin. Eh? AFAIK, disabling task manager is one of the worm's symptom. But after several complete scan on my PC, no virus/worm was found. But cannot run task manager. Is it because rvhost.exe was deleted?

Need opinion on this. Thanks

furthermore, nakataasd asked me to post HijackThis log. What's HijackThis log?
