“Anggota telah menemui seorang mangsa yang terperangkap serta rentung di dalam kenderaan tersebut dan menggunakan peralatan rescue cutter untuk mengeluarkan mayat mangsa sebelum diserahkan kepada pihak polis bagi tindakan lanjut.

“Bagaimanapun, identiti dan jantina mangsa masih belum dapat dikenal pasti,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

Beliau berkata, pemandu treler yang merupakan lelaki berusia 60 tahun hanya mengalami kecederaan ringan telah diberikan rawatan awal oleh pegawai perubatan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) di lokasi kejadian sebelum dihantar ke hospital menggunakan ambulans.

Tambahnya, operasi turut melibatkan kerja-kerja pembersihan jalan bagi mengalihkan serpihan kenderaan dan membersihkan tumpahan minyak yang berpunca daripada kemalangan tersebut.

PETALING JAYA: A coalition of more than 60 civil society organisations will submit a memorandum to MPs tomorrow urging the government to increase, rather than reduce, public healthcare spending as the system is under strain.

The groups, under the Save Public Healthcare System Campaign, are opposing a proposed cut of about RM4.65 billion to the Health Ministry’s 2026 allocation, saying it may worsen shortages in manpower, facilities and essential resources.

PSM central committee member Gandipan Gopalan told theSun that the memorandum, led by Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj, would be submitted to MPs from both the government and opposition.

The coalition questioned how savings of RM4.65 billion could be achieved solely through measures such as reducing overseas courses, hotel events and development projects, as reportedly outlined by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“The government must provide a detailed and transparent breakdown of the proposed cuts, including the categories involved and the amount of savings expected from each category,” it said in a statement signed by 60 nongovernmental organisations and five individuals.

On April 30, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the ministry was expecting a budget cut of about 10%, while assuring that core healthcare services would not be affected.

With the ministry allocated RM46.5 billion under Budget 2026, the reduction would amount to about RM4.65 billion.

The coalition argued that Malaysia continues to spend below the level needed to meet growing healthcare demands.

It said any savings should be reinvested into healthcare and education instead of being removed from those sectors.

“The country’s public healthcare system requires greater investment,” it said, reiterating its call for public healthcare spending to reach at least 5% of the GDP.

It also opposed funding cuts to university hospitals, citing fee increases of up to 233% at University Malaya Medical Centre from Jan 1 last year and said university hospitals play an important role in providing a more affordable alternative to private healthcare, particularly in urban areas.

It also called for a freeze on further hikes until adequate public hospital alternatives are available. The memorandum further proposes higher taxes on private hospitals benefiting from medical tourism, with revenue channelled to public healthcare.

It added that Penang recorded more than 527,000 foreign patients in 2025, generating over RM1.1 billion in revenue while government hospitals continued to face funding and staffing constraints.

The coalition said austerity efforts should target wastage, leakages, luxury government spending and non-essential mega projects before healthcare and education budgets are cut.

Among the organisations backing the memorandum besides PSM are Aliran, the Consumers’ Association of Penang, the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism, Islamic Renaissance Front, Muda, Sahabat Alam Malaysia, Women’s Aid Organisation, Undi18 and several health, student and community-based groups.

The petition on Change.org, with 37,460 verified signatures at the time of writing, urged the government to protect health care and education as national priorities and to end broad-based blanket fuel subsidies.

“At a time when hospitals are overcrowded, clinics are stretched, medicines are costly, and schools face resource constraints, cutting health and education is not reform — it is retreat,” said MyWatch’s petition announced by the group’s president, Roslizawati Ali, at a press conference here today.

According to the full memorandum of protest, MyWatch said spending cuts in public health care and education would not be paid for by the Ministry of Health (MOH) or Ministry of Education (MOE), but by ordinary Malaysians.

The group cited women, mothers, older persons, low-income households, and children, among others.

“This is not fiscal discipline. This is cost-shifting from the state onto households. And that is neither just, efficient, nor morally defensible.”

MyWatch described the continued persistence of broad-based blanket fuel subsidies as “economically irrational spending”, pointing out that such subsidies disproportionately benefited high-income households, heavy users, large vehicle owners, and those least in need of subsidy protection.

“They are expensive, blunt, and deeply inefficient. The government already possesses the tools to do better. Use targeted subsidy reform properly. Use PADU properly. Protect the B40 and lower M40 directly. Stop subsidising inefficiency at scale,” said MyWatch’s petition.

“It is indefensible to preserve broad fuel subsidies for the comfortable while proposing cuts to public health and education for the vulnerable. That is not pro-rakyat policy. That is upside-down governance.”

The group further told the Madani government to abolish multiple pensions for politicians; remove excessive allowances and ceremonial perks from lawmakers and elite civil servants; and cut non-essential government-linked patronage positions; besides “ending the culture of elite insulation from national sacrifice”.

“No elected official should draw multiple publicly funded pensions while ordinary Malaysians are told to accept cuts to medicines, schools, and basic services.”

MyWatch also demanded higher tobacco/vape, alcohol, and sugar-sweetened beverage taxes, besides taxation on ultra-processed foods, high-pollution industries, and environmentally harmful emitters.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the finance minister, announced yesterday that the government would continue to cover the soaring cost of fuel subsidies, amid the United States-Israeli war with Iran, by implementing austerity measures and stopping the leakage of national funds.

Besides cuts to current-year spending, Anwar recently indicated that ministries, including MOE and the Higher Education Ministry, may also face reduced allocations in the upcoming Budget 2027, saying it was impossible that nothing could be saved “out of RM20 billion”.

He added that all ministries were equally important, citing national unity, culture and sports, and science and technology.

Fresh fighting broke out early today on the 100th day of the Persian Gulf conflict when Iran and Israel exchanged strikes, in the first of such hostilities since a ceasefire paused the war in April.

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said last month that “essential core services”, such as basic health services and drug and medical device supplies, would be protected from spending cuts, even though the MOH faces a whopping cut of up to RM4.65 billion, or 10 per cent, of its 2026 budget.

This is something that I can’t really deny – I’ve seen it firsthand! The thing is, however, that I’ve noticed that although they are indeed bigger, they are soft like noodle.

I’ve discussed this issue with some of my close friends who are also into Caucasian men, and the consensus is that we came to the same conclusion, really most of them like soggy maggie mee.

Of course, it’s hard for me or anyone to pinpoint for sure why this is the case. All I know is that I’ve been in relationships with both Caucasian men and Singaporean men and I’ve noticed a difference in terms of the performance.

I’m sure there are plenty of other factors that could contribute to why one man might be like a soggy noodle or another.

That being said, I still think that Caucasian men are incredibly attractive and I wouldn’t change my preference for them any time soon.

The car was subsequently engulfed in flames.

He said firefighters from the Cheras Fire and Rescue Department later arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze and assist in removing the trapped victims from the vehicle.

“The male driver suffered severe burns all over his body, while the female passenger sustained serious head injuries. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.”

He added that police are currently investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by dangerous driving, and will obtain nearby CCTV footage to help determine the exact cause of the accident.

Japan's second-biggest automaker will halt operations at one of two petrol car plants jointly run with Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) in June, the people said. Honda is also considering suspending another plant owned with Dongfeng Motor Group next year, they added on condition ⁠of anonymity because the information was not public.

The move would mark a further retreat by Honda in one of its key markets, as traditional automakers lose ground to fast-moving Chinese electric-vehicle makers and are forced to shrink legacy petrol operations.

Honda said the information was not announced by the company and there was nothing else it could add. GAC and Dongfeng did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Japanese magazine Toyo Keizai reported earlier on Friday that Honda planned to shut down both plants.

Honda has six vehicle plants through the two JVs in China. Both JVs have two internal combustion engine (ICE) plants with output capacity of 240,000 cars a year each as well as a smaller EV facility.

Closing one ICE plant at each JV would halve Honda's production capacity in China to about 480,000 petrol-powered cars a year from 960,000 ‌and cut ⁠its total annual capacity to roughly 720,000 vehicles from 1.2 million.

ROADER RESTRUCTURING
The pullback follows Honda's announcement last month that it was writing down the value of its China business as part of a broader overhaul of its EV strategy that includes up to $15.7 billion in restructuring costs.

The charges are expected to lead the automaker to its first annual loss in nearly 70 years as a listed company.

Honda has struggled in China to compete with electric, software-driven cars made by ⁠rivals such as BYD.

Its sales in the country fell about 24% in 2025 from a year earlier to just under 647,000 vehicles. That left its sales at nearly half of the more than 1.2 million cars it sold in China in 2023.

Honda had already lowered its annual production capacity in China from ⁠1.49 million to 1.2 million over the past years.

One of the two people said Honda's EV plants in Guangzhou and Wuhan would begin producing EVs and plug-in hybrids developed under the leadership of its Chinese JV partners from 2028 or later.

GAC and Dongfeng are among Chinese automakers ⁠ramping up exports of China-made vehicles to markets such as Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa, with both companies setting aggressive overseas sales targets for this year.
