Parts of the tuition fee to the college were paid. But I still owe my college for my final year++. When I started working, I paid minimum direct to college almost every month. <br /><br />I convoed but didn&#39;t receive result transcript and cert. And I understand. Today I no longer work. I am scrapping by to pay student loan to the loan provider. It is my priority. But It also has been years I haven&#39;t paid the old tuition fee still owed direct to college.<br /><br />Some years ago, I read on serious /k that college is not legally allowed to ask former students to pay owed tuition fee if the last payment and the point of contact asking for settlement is 8 years apart. And after that it turns into bad debt. I can&#39;t recall it perfectly. I was called this week. I asked what year my last payment was. She couldn&#39;t give me the information.<br /><br />My questions are:<br />- If it&#39;s true, does the rule only apply to students who dropped out half way? Because I didn&#39;t drop out.<br />- What options does the college have to recover the debt? Can they sell the debt to debt collection agency?<br />- Does college debt affect ctos? Last I checked, mine was only affected by ptptn loan<br />- The amount is about 19k. I don&#39;t know if bad debt rule only applies to certain amount <br /><br />I tried to keep this post simple without adding too much details of home life situation and why I couldn&#39;t get full loan. Complicated and doesn&#39;t change anything now.<br /><br />I tried to find the old topic here, but couldn&#39;t find it. If someone somehow found it, please share the link here.
