Bekas menteri Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad membangkitkan kebimbangan selepas Menteri Komunikasi Fahmi Fadzil dikatakan berkongsi berita tidak tepat mengenai Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama).

Nik Nazmi, yang kini menerajui Bersama dengan Rafizi Ramli, berkongsi di X bahawa akaun TikTok Fahmi telah menyiarkan semula video yang dimuat naik oleh pengguna MayaAlesya tiga hari lalu.

Video itu, yang mendakwa Rafizi telah “membeli” Bersama dengan harga RM8.6 juta, mempersoalkan sumber dana Rafizi sambil turut menuduh bekas menteri ekonomi itu menyimpan niat jahat terhadap PKR.

"Dari mana Rafizi dapat dana, hasil dari skandal rasuah ke, atau dapat dana dari George Soros?

"Sebenarnya tujuan utama Rafizi lancarkan Bersama bukan untuk kepentingan rakyat tapi untuk balas dendam terhadap parti lama dan kerajaan.

"Apabila kepentingan peribadi dah tak diterima dalam PKR, Rafizi akan guna parti baru untuk sebarkan persepsi dan formula politik supaya rakyat percaya dengan dirinya," kata video berdurasi 56 saat itu.

Semakan Malaysiakini mengesahkan bahawa akaun TikTok Fahmi telah menyiarkan semula video itu, yang masih boleh diakses setakat laporan ini ditulis.

Dalam catatan X semalam, Nik Nazmi menegaskan bahawa perkongsian kandungan oleh Fahmi bercanggah dengan slogan Kementerian Komunikasi ‘Tidak Pasti Jangan Kongsi’, yang memberi amaran kepada pengguna media sosial agar tidak berkongsi maklumat yang tidak disahkan.

“Dia (Fahmi) repost content cakap Rafizi beli Bersama dengan harga RM8.6 juta, siapa sumbernya ya?

"MCMC akan siasat tak posting ni kalau tak betul?" soal Nik Nazmi.

Malaysiakini telah menghubungi Fahmi, yang juga jurucakap kerajaan, dan MCMC untuk mendapatkan maklum balas terhadap perkara itu, tetapi masih belum menerima jawapan.

Semasa acara 17 Mei apabila Rafizi dan Nik Nazmi mengumumkan usaha politik baru mereka, bekas pengasas Bersama, Tan Gin Theam, telah dengan rela hati menyerahkan parti itu sebagai sebahagian daripada usaha untuk menambah baik landskap politik negara.

Rafizi, bekas timbalan presiden PKR, juga berkata bahawa Tan juga didorong oleh cita-cita politik dan ia tidak melibatkan sebarang bayaran.

Ini bukan kali pertama akaun TikTok Fahmi menyiarkan semula kandungan yang menimbulkan keraguan.

Dua minggu lalu, akaun tersebut menyiarkan semula dua video oleh ahli jawatankuasa komunikasi Amanah Selangor, Ezzat Kamaruddin yang mendakwa bahawa sebuah pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) belia telah menerima RM54 juta yang didakwa daripada sumber luaran pro-Zionis.

Kandungan dalam talian itu mendakwa bahawa wang itu didakwa digunakan untuk membiayai tentera siber dalam kalangan belia.

Ezzat selanjutnya mendakwa bahawa NGO itu dibiayai oleh isteri seorang bekas menteri, dan seorang lagi bekas menteri turut terlibat.

Setakat ini, Ezzat tidak menamakan mana-mana individu atau memberikan sebarang bukti. Apabila dihubungi pada 17 Mei, dia memberitahu Malaysiakini bahawa dia akan mengadakan sidang akhbar. Walau bagaimanapun, sidang akhbar itu masih belum diadakan.

Beberapa hari selepas dakwaan Ezzat, Ketua Pemuda PKR, Kamil Abdul Munim, menuduh pertubuhan masyarakat sivil belia Mandiri menerima RM1.5 juta daripada dana penderma berhaluan kiri yang berpangkalan di AS, Tides Foundation.

Kamil, yang juga setiausaha politik Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim di Kementerian Kewangan, mendakwa bahawa dana tersebut, yang didakwa dikaitkan dengan "langkah politik" oleh pihak tertentu, telah digunakan untuk membayar tentera siber bagi mencipta naratif antikerajaan.

KUALA LUMPUR: Three contractor personnel were killed and one was injured in an accident during lifeboat maintenance work at a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel operated by Malaysian state energy firm Petronas on Sunday (May 24), the firm said.

Petronas, or Petroliam Nasional Berhad, said in a statement on Monday that the incident occurred around 12.50pm at the Sepat platform off the coast of Terengganu, on the east coast of peninsular Malaysia.

Three workers were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while the injured staff member was evacuated for medical treatment and remains under observation, Petronas said.

"Investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing in coordination with the relevant authorities," it said.

Petronas did not provide further details.

Malaysia's state news agency Bernama reported the workers had boarded a lifeboat on the FSO platform to lower themselves into the sea to carry out maintenance work.

However, the rope or hook linked to the lifeboat was believed to have detached, causing the victims to fall into the sea, according to Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Mohd Noor.

Rescue teams were deployed to the scene and managed to retrieve all four personnel from the water before bringing them back onto the platform, reported The Vibes.

The victims were later airlifted by helicopter to Sultan Mahmud Airport at about 4pm before being rushed to the hospital.

The deceased were identified as Ahmad Fiqri Zakaria, 38; Muhammad Faezuan Hakim Mohammad Bustamam, 28; and Nik Muhammad Hafifi Asri Ab Majid, 38, local media reported.

Another worker, Mohd Taufik Mohd Ruslan, 37, remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Terengganu.

"Petronas extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased. The company's immediate priority is to support the wellbeing of those affected," the firm said in a statement.

Police have classified the case as a sudden death report pending the outcome of further investigations, according to The Vibes.

Post-mortem examinations on the three victims were scheduled to be conducted on Monday morning.

CYBERJAYA, 21 May 2026 - The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a Statutory Demand to TikTok following the platform's failure to take sufficient and timely action in moderating offensive and defamatory content directed, as well as fake accounts against the Malaysian Royal Institution.

The action arises from the circulation of content associated with an account purporting to be linked to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim. The content in question includes material that is grossly offensive, false, menacing and insulting in nature, including Al-generated videos and manipulated images, which not only may contravene Section 233 of the CMA 1998, but also other penal laws in Malaysia.

MCMC take serious view of any misuse of online platforms to disseminate content that is grossly offensive, false, menacing or detrimental to public order, particularly where it involves the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers. Such matters fall within the broader context of 3R (Race, Religion and Royalty) issues, which are highly sensitive, undermines public order, national harmony and respect for Constitutional Institutions.

Despite prior notifications and engagements, TikTok's moderation response to the content has been found unsatisfactory, particularly in ensuring prompt removal and preventing further dissemination of harmful material. As a platform rendering social media services in Malaysia, service providers are expected to exercise a higher degree of responsibility in safeguarding their services against exploitation for unlawful and harmful activities.

The issuance of the Statutory Demand requires TikTok to undertake immediate remedial measures, including strengthening its content moderation mechanisms and ensuring more effective enforcement against content that violates Malaysian laws and community standards and also provide a formal explanation regarding its moderation failures.

MCMC emphasises that it will continue to take necessary and proportionate action within its regulatory powers, including further legal measures where appropriate, to address the misuse of online platforms. Social media service providers are expected to act responsibly and expeditiously in addressing content that is unlawful, harmful, or threatens public order, particularly in matters involving 3R sensitivities.

MCMC will continue to take firm and proportionate action where necessary to ensure digital platforms operating in Malaysia uphold their responsibilities in maintaining a safe, secure and respectful online environment.

High Court fixes June 30 to decide whether the Malaysian Bar's leave application for judicial review should be heard or stayed.

KUALA LUMPUR: The attorney-general (AG) is opposing the Malaysian Bar’s application for leave to commence judicial review proceedings over the AG’s decision to take no further action (NFA) in Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s Yayasan Akalbudi corruption trial.

This was conveyed to the High Court today by senior federal counsel Nurhafizza Azizan, who appeared for the AG.

The AG, as guardian of public interest, may support granting leave or oppose such applications on grounds that they are frivolous.

Justice Alice Loke fixed June 30 to decide whether the Bar’s leave application should be heard or stayed pending the disposal of a related matter before the Federal Court.

On May 7, the Court of Appeal granted the Bar leave to challenge the AG’s decision to seek a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) for Zahid from his 47 charges in the Yayasan Akalbudi case.

Nurhafizza said the AG would file a leave application to appeal the matter under Section 96 of the Court of Judicature Act 1964.

“I have instructions to proceed with the leave for judicial review application, but not today,” said Nurhafizza, who was assisted by federal counsel Imtiyaz Wizni Aufa Othman.

Representing the Bar, lawyer S Abhilaash said its judicial review leave application over the NFA should proceed as the Court of Appeal ruling was based on established legal principles.

Zahid’s lawyer, Shahrul Fazli Kamarulzaman, said his client would also file a leave application to appeal the Court of Appeal ruling.

“We have until June 5 to file the application in the Federal Court,” said Shahrul, who was assisted by Hamidi Noh.

Shahrul then urged the court to stay proceedings until the parties return to give the court an update on the status of their leave application to the apex court.

Loke fixed June 30 to hear whether the matter before her should proceed or be suspended.

In its application last month, the Bar said the AG’s decision to discontinue criminal proceedings against Zahid was irrational, unreasonable, and against public interest.

It is seeking a declaration that the NFA decision is null and void and made in excess of the jurisdiction vested in the AG by Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution and Section 254(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

In court filings, the Bar said the NFA decision ran contrary to a ruling made by the trial court on Jan 22, 2022, that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Zahid.

On Sept 4, 2023, the High Court, acting on the AG’s application, granted Zahid a DNAA on all 47 charges of corruption, money laundering, and criminal breach of trust in the case.

The AG sought the order to allow the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to reopen investigations into the case.

In December 2023, the Bar applied for leave to commence judicial review proceedings to challenge the AG’s decision to secure the DNAA, claiming it was irrational and unreasonable.

In June 2024, the High Court dismissed the application.

However, on May 7, the Court of Appeal allowed the Bar’s appeal, ruling that the case should be heard on its merits.

On Jan 28, Zahid filed an application seeking a full acquittal after the AG said the case had been classified as NFA following MACC’s conclusion that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the trial.

This led the Bar to file another judicial review application last month.

KLANG – Chaos erupted outside a school in Pandamaran here when a group of teenagers engaged in a fight, which has since gone viral on social media today.

The 26-second video recording depicts several individuals punching and kicking one another, witnessed by several other teenagers who were present at the scene.

THE textile and fibre industries should develop comfortable and affordable school uniforms suited to Malaysia’s hot climate, a deputy minister says.

Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin said rising temperatures due to climate change were making current school uniforms increasingly uncomfortable for students, adding that the materials used had remained largely unchanged for decades.

“The industry in Malaysia must think about how to produce better and more comfortable clothing suitable for our climate, while keeping costs affordable for families,” he said after attending the 15th Asian Chemical Fiber Industry Federation (ACFIF) conference in George Town, Penang.

Sim said Asian countries currently dominated the global fibre and textile market, accounting for more than half of the industry, but intense competition among regional players had compressed profit margins.

“We in Asia have many countries competing against one another, and this competition has made the industry less profitable.

“That is why collaboration is important,” he said.

Sim urged the textile and fibre industries to invest in research and development (R&D), and strengthen environmental standards to remain competitive.

He said companies could work with universities to drive innovation and develop more environmentally-friendly materials.

He emphasised that environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards had become increasingly important, particularly for companies seeking access to developed markets such as Europe.

“Industries are focused on business, so they need to collaborate with universities to produce better quality materials that meet ESG standards.

“We need better quality products that are more comfortable and suitable for consumers, while moving up the value chain.”

Sim said the fibre industry faced scrutiny over pollution linked to chemicals and microfibres entering rivers and seas.

“We cannot continue to pollute the rivers and pollute the sea.

“The industry must find solutions to create a more sustainable environment,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 20): The US Justice Department charged three ex-employees of Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TM) for misappropriation involving nearly RM80 million of the company’s funds.

Mohd Hafiz Lockman, Mohd Yuzaimi Yusof, and Khanh Thuong Nguyen — formerly attached to the company’s wholly owned US subsidiary — were indicted for wire fraud conspiracy, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft, according to a statement from the Justice Department.

“The defendants used false statements, forged records, fictitious transactions, and corporate and individual impersonations to deceive counterparties, suppliers, auditors, and supervisors,” the department said.

The case centres on an alleged scheme to divert more than US$20 million of company funds through four interconnected frauds.

The fraud was uncovered during Telekom Malaysia’s internal investigation of the American subsidiary and the trio.

Telekom Malaysia self-reported the conduct to the US Attorney’s Office, the Justice Department said, noting that the company itself will not be charged based on the full cooperation, restitution, and remediation of harm.

Mohd Hafiz was arrested on April 20, 2026 at San Francisco International Airport, while Nguyen and Mohd Yuzaimi surrendered to authorities on April 22 and April 23.

“These three individuals are alleged to have conducted a deliberate and calculated embezzlement scheme, falsifying corporate records for their own financial benefit,” said James C Barnacle Jr, the assistant director in charge at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

If found guilty, the trio faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for each count of the wire fraud conspiracy and wire fraud, while the aggravated identity theft charge carries a mandatory consecutive sentence of two years in prison.

The company will continue to cooperate fully with the Justice Department while the matter is in the US court, Telekom Malaysia said in a statement. “TM upholds strict governance and compliance standards and does not tolerate any form of misconduct,” it added.
