Suspended BIS Account

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if many other people have posted about this (I looked around but couldn't find such a post really) and also my ignorance of not knowing anything about Blackberry and their services you can say partly got me into this mess.

I have recently bought a Blackberry Bold 2 (the pearl white edition) by selling off my Nokia E72 (AVAXX) and topping up over it some cash in exchange.

During the COD, I've checked the phone - a Maxis set and it is flawless and literally with NO scratches whatsoever along with its receipt (which I found out later after looking more closely at it that it was fake).

So here I go home happy with my new phone (this was on Thursday) and the first thing I did was of course get a prepaid SIM card and try out the BIS services - but with no avail. This was when I started doing some research and kept reading more about peoples problems like mine online through forums such as Lowyat's.

And of course in order to use email on a Blackberry I've to register it online. As I have a DiGi prepaid card, I went online to their Blackberry Account portal only to find this message to pop up: Cannot Create Account. Your BIS Account is suspended or deactivated.

Thats when I was so disappointed with myself, as I really never knew that getting a Blackberry and using one isn't like any other mobile phone.

I'm posting this not only to ask for assistance as I've read a lot of posts and it all goes back to the same thing: Contact the original carrier and make them unlock it.. and honestly neither do I know who the original owner is nor do I know what carrier it is.

Well you might say its a Maxis set so why don't you just call Maxis. I did and surprisingly after giving them the IMEI and PIN number of the phone they said that that phone is not in their system AT ALL and they could get more information if I can get them the number which was registered with the phone.

Anyhow in the end I would just like to share of what happened, and now that I have a phone which I can't even use to check my email I hope more people do become aware of this when buying a second hand Blackberry.

Any comments are definitely welcomed! If anyone has solved such a problem please do share!
