New Zealand - South Island trip

Hey guys..

I've finally in New Zealand after some long long flights from Kuala Lumpur.. My flight got cancelled during my transit from Singapore to Auckland, due to the snow storms that occurs for the first time in 40 years all over New Zealand. It was a scary news but it was kinda cool too because this is my first time visiting New Zealand and first time seeing snows! Wohoooo...

After a night in Auckland, we flew to Christchurch.. stayed at Kiwi BaseCamp (24NZD/night) and took the TranzAlpine train to Greymouth. Trust me, this is one of the best train ride ever! Look at the sceneries along the way.. it's amazing and breathtaking!

Flight ticket

Anyone interested in my air tickets flying from Auckland to KL via SG? I bought it when it's promo time and regretted it because i didnt plan properly.. Instead of flying back from Auckland, i bought tickets to Melbourne and flying back home from Melbourne instead. Kinda lazy carrying my backpacks here and there...

Service Battery notice

Recently i saw this "Service Battery" sign just above my battery indicator on MBP 09. Anyone face this problems before and how to deal with it?? Kinda irritating and the battery life is pretty bad. I try calibrating the battery few rounds but no helps.

Laptop cannot boot in

I dont know what's wrong with my dad's laptop, when he say he cannot boot in anymore. It's a Dell Inspiron 6400 running on Window XP Home
During start up, this msg come out:

A disk read error occured
Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart

I press and same msg come out. Next msg after i press F8 or F10.. forgot d..

Invalid BOOT.INI file
Booting from C:\windows\

And nothing happen after that...
I run diagnostic test and found out this msg come out:

Optical Device Built-in Self Test --
Test Results: Fail
Error Code: 1000-0148
Msg: Unit 2: Optical drive BIST -- Spindle test failed.

HELP... what should i do now? Is it something wrong with the hard disk? or something much more serious?

Repairing N95 display/ribbon

My N95 had some 'ribbon' problems after i've send it for a casing change. Initially, there were some times where blackout occurred but after 1 month now, the screen is totally black out but calls can be received, sms work (but i couldnt read it of cos) and all other features.. basically non functioning due to black screen

Does anyone know's roughly the cost of repairing and changing the ribbon? Is it worth it?

Comparison between normal cherry and fire red cherry.

How to differentiate normal cherry and fire red? To me, i have no scientific proves but, in my opinion, just colors differences. Some breeder in Taiwan mention, it's just about grading, like CRS. My fire red do throw out less red individuals too and wild form, while Sakura tend to have more orangish coloration.

I've installed the NTFS 3G , it seems that it only able to mount one partition of my external hhd (i've partition my hard disk into 2). The other partition remains " can only read". How to solve this problem?

Was wondering if lens rental is available in Malaysia? at least in KL?
Would love to rent some lens for a month maybe to play around, as i dont need certain lens all the time. It would be a waste if i purchase one and end up in dry box under-utilized.

Hi,

Recently, i noticed that my Mac can view other computer's Shared folder (on the left of my Finder, under 'Shared'), and i can access certain users/folder in other computer. How did this actually happen?

The only possible connection was through Airport (through wireless) as i'm not connected to anything using wire/cable and such or bluetooth. I check 'Sharing' under System Preference and i found out that all my sharing is OFF. How could i still 'read & write' anything on the particular shared users? It is possible that others could view my stuff too as i feel very unsafe now. As far as i have check, all my sharing were OFF. Is it if we are on the same wireless server, we could view each other files? it is very unsafe...

as far as i know, D80 can control flash wirelessly right? mean u can put the flash anywhere right?

canon 400,450D dun have.. need ST-E2 only can do wireless right? is there any other way to do slave or wireless flash?
