i'm looking for a low end pcie GPU card, with hdmi port and low profile (LP) bracket.
Plan to use in my SFF dekstop, for HTPC usage only.
dont care either ATI or Nvidia, as long as still working good without any problem at all.
i'm from Kuala Terengganu, so i dun mind to add few extra bucks for the postage.

tablet using usb modem?

hi guys, need some help from anyone who willing to share.

i just received my first tab yesterday, its a free give from TM for my streamyx subscription. Tablet HP 8 G2 with only wifi capability, no 3G.
Im thinking to get an external usb modem, and plan to connect it to my tab using an OTG cable. Is it doable? how about the modem specific software which usually need to be installed when using it on PC? do i need to install it on tab as well?

lappy gpu faulted?

hi guys,

helping my bro in law reg his laptop problem; model ASUS K40AB-VX003 with AMD Turion X2 64 Dual-Core Processor QL-64 2.1 GHz, Ram 2 GB DDR2, HDD 320GB 5400 RPM, ATI Radeon HD4570, 14 inch WXGA (1366×768).

since few days ago, his lappy display monitor blank each time he want to switch on it, eventhough the switch led shows its already on, so he brought it to ASUS centre/dealer, they said have to change its mobo and the cost will be around rm700. since he want to have another solution, he visited a pc shop in Bukit Jambul, Penang (my bro studying there). 'Technician' at the shop examined and concluded that the lappy's mobo ok, just gpu chipset gone and can be replaced with another chip with cost about rm300+. He still not proceed with it and want to think first reg all available solution.

so i want to ask u guys opinion reg this, which 1 is the best:

1. change mobo at ASUS centre with cost rm700 and get warranty for another 6mths.

2. change gpu chipset at the shop with cost rm300 and get warranty for 3mths.

i'm not really sure with 2nd option as i'm not really expert in laptop hardware, is it true we can just replace the chipset alone? i know that surely there are peoples will suggesting me to just change laptop, but my bro still a student, and this lappy he bought it 2 yrs ago by his own money, so financially he can afford to buy a new 1 easily.

problem with KIS2009 installation

hi guys, need some help/guide here. i dun know whether this is the appropriate section for me to ask help for my problem. Yesterday i finished setting up a new laptop for my friend; installing Vista, drivers and all necessary software. As for antivirus, i decided to use KIS2009 but because of my forgetfulness to buy its license yesterday in LYP, so i cant install it yet, and decided to just use AVG8 Free Edition for a moment until i buy the KIS2009 license key. I really planned to use this AVG for a short time only because i cant update it using my college network (dun know why, my friend said its due to the AVG update file containing some avi file or got file names with word ..avi.. in it, since my college admin block these AVI). Today i bought the KIS2009 licence key already, and before procede with KIS installation, i uninstalled the AVG first and later procede with KIS installation. However i failed to complete the installation, as the wizard still detects AVG8 in my system and demanded it to be removed. I checked it again in my "Uninstalled or change Program" in Control Panel and Task Manager, but couldnt find any programs that seems to be related with the AVG. And i even used CCleaner to analyze and fix any problem with my registry, but still can complete the KIS installation.
So i hope somebody can enlighten me about what steps i should do until complete the KIS instalation.

my Lite-on DVD RW LH-20A1S problem

hi guys, really need help here. i bought a 2nd hand Lite-on DVD RW LH-20A1S from a forumer here few days ago, and just received it today. After done some testing, this burner seems to have some problem to read dvds. I already tested it with 6 types of dvd-r (with data eg. animes, songs, installation software, even my *ahem* OS disc, which all of them are proven readable by my LG burner) but failed to read them, and this auto-run windows appear:

it's like the burner detects them as blank dvd-r. However, when i inserted a movie dvd, it can recognized it and can play the movie flawlessly. It also dun have problem with reading cd's since i already tested with various types of cd-r. I tried to update the firmware to latest 1 (9.09 released on April this year) but still cant solve the problem.
So i need some help here about this, as i dun think the burner is faulty as its still can read movie dvd ( prev owner also told me that he tested the burner with all cd&dvd format before sent it to me on last friday). Or does it true that this kind of problem can happens due to RAID driver problem (like i read in some other forums)?

Re-install WinXP Pro OEM

hi guys, need help from experts here regarding my bro's pc (ACER pc), which he bought 2 years ago pre-installed with WinXP Pro. But now this pc is having some problems (certain programs like Paint & Volume Manager are missing; shows some errors during log-on on win dekstop), and i'm thinking to repair the OS but have no XP Pro cd to do that. So want to ask guides from u all about this problem.

1. can i use any other XP Pro cd to repair it? (like Media Centre Edition)
2. i'm downloading Windows XP Pro SP3 from Microsoft website now, can i mount that file into a cd to become a bootable disk?

let say if repairing failed to settle this problem, and i decide to re-install the OS, so...

3. do i need to ask for a new key from Microsoft to activate it?
4. IIANM, i need to give current serial key in order to ask for a new key, so how to check for serial key for this OEM XP? (i read about this in a thread before in LYN, but couldnt find that topic now)

I already tried to restore file to the point before this problem happened, but no changes. I also already scanned this pc using anti-spyware, also no threat found. So my current option is to repair the XP or to re-install it (last option). Hope u guys can guide me pls..

Internal HDDs detected as external

hi guys, need some help here. dun know whether already got topic for this question, coz i dun know what keyword to use to search for it.
i'm using 1 Maxtor SATA HDD n temporarily another 1 SATA HDD. my problem is my OS (using Vista) detects them like pendrive, means in the function 'Safely Remove Hardware' in the window taskbar shows them as removable drive (like when we using USB drive), so i want to know how to disable this thing. quite annoying when i want to pendrive, and it seems (i think la) that due to this problem, i cant use seagate tool software now (the tools give a message after scanning my drive - This device may not support pass through)
so i really appreciate anyone can tell me how to settle this problem, thanks

hi guys,
i bought a Creative Nano Plus 1gb last month, and for a person like, this player already good for me. The problem is with its earphone, i feel quite not comfortable when using it for a long duration, and i think its related to the shape of the earphone (old style in-earphone,... dun know how to call it ), so i'm thinking to buy another earphone ('new style' in-earphone), but dun know which 1 is good...
so i need ur opinions regarding this, suggest to me an earphone that have sound quality at least same as my current Creative earphone (better got an earphone that has high bass), but the price should not be more than RM80, thanks...

p/s: i'm not an audiophile, but also love hearing musics and songs, and quite peculiar with the quality of sounds, but dun have money to spend on high tech audio accessories

cannot open ATI CATALYST Control Center

Hi guys, need guides from u all about what happened to my pc now. The problem is, i cant open my ATI CATALYST Control Center, neither by right click on dekstop or by clicking its symbol. Each time i tried to open it, a message appear like this screenshot:

so i dun know whether the problem is my XP or ATI driver, and i reinstalled my GPU driver twice but nothing changed. If can, i dun want to reinstall OS coz i use this OS not more than a month yet. So i'll appreciated if there is somebody who know what above message means and have a good solution to this problem. Thanks

p/s: actually this problem doesnt affect my pc performance, and i still can play games, but i feel not really satisfy if a problem like this happen

I need help. I build my pc 1 month ago (bought from LYN forumers). The pc's ok until last week when it started to alternately not detect my HDD (SATA). When it occur, i off the power and then try to reconnect the HDD. Sometimes it's working but sometime not and i need to reconnect again and again. Last nite i try on my own to change the position of SATA cable (i mean the one that connect to HDD change to the mobo and vice versa). Then it working and can load the OS. But when i try to play some game like NFS Carbon, it became saggy (before this the game can be played smoothly) and that make me think that it maybe related to HDD problem. But i'm still not sure la coz when i restart the pc, so far the problem (undetected HDD) did not occur. So i need advise from u guys, whether i need to send my HDD to RMA (still got 8 months warranty) coz i'm afraid they did not do anything as the problem not so severe. (Actually i got the same problem 2 years ago with my 40gb Maxtor, sent to the shop in warranty, they checked and told me that the HDD did not have any problem, and now the HDD remained undetected when i try to connect to any pc). one more, is there any problem if we connect the SATA cable in wrong way?Pls guys, i really need ur advise and opinion. Thanks.
