It’s been a decade since the Putra Indoor Stadium of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium got renamed to Axiata Arena. But it looks like it’s time for another name change, now being known as the Unifi Arena. The exercising of naming rights doesn’t stop there, as the Bukit Jalil National Stadium itself has also gotten a rebrand. Now, it’s called the TM National Stadium instead.

The name changes follow a three-year “strategic partnership” signed between the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM) and TM. In a Statement, PSM says that the strategic partnership “is an important step to ensure both venues remain relevant and comfortable and competitive for hosting world-class sporting and entertainment events”.

For context, back in 2022, then youth and sports minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu said that the national stadium may be rebranded using a strategic partner’s name. This was one way of generating income to meet stadium maintenance expenses.

Tying in to this is the initial renaming of the Putra Indoor Stadium to the Axiata Arena back in 2017. This was a result of another partnership between PSM and Axiata Group. This was instead a 10-year agreement worth RM55 million, the end of which allowed another one to take its place. Hence the new names of Unifi Arena, and the overall TM National Stadium name.

All that being said, the statement does not include the worth of the agreement this time around. That, and that the new names took effect on 6 March, despite the statement being issued today. Also probably worth mentioning is that, since this is a three-year agreement, it’s entirely possible that another name change will happen come 2028.

HONG KONG, Jan 15 — After months of speculation, Charlene Choi has finally made it official — and she did so with her trademark candour and good humour.

The 43-year-old Cantopop star confirmed her romance with fitness coach Elvis Lam at a fan event held at a tea store in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui district on Tuesday, which drew close to 1,000 fans.

When asked about her “rumoured” boyfriend, Choi was quick to correct the record: “You can omit the word ‘rumoured’ now.”

Standing beside her was Twins groupmate Gillian Chung, who added with a smile: “Isn’t it very obvious already?”

Lam, who is 10 years Choi’s junior, has also had a noticeable influence on her lifestyle.

The singer previously shared that she has been hiking and exercising more frequently these days, crediting him for inspiring her to adopt healthier habits and feel better overall.

When reporters pushed a little further and asked whether the couple works out together regularly, Choi laughed it off, replying playfully: “Hey, one question a day is fine! I’m really happy. That’s all I’ll say.”

Rumours about the pair first surfaced last year after fans spotted Choi and Lam together at a concert by Hong Kong singer-songwriter Terence Lam in August.

The chatter intensified in November when Lam appeared front and centre in a photo from Choi’s birthday celebration — standing right next to her — and when Choi teased her relationship status in an interview with Hong Kong media.

The confirmation also comes with some personal history in the background. Choi was previously married to singer-actor Ronald Cheng from 2006 to 2010, and later dated billionaire businessman Anthony Shek, with the pair parting ways in 2023.

With the romance now out in the open, attention has also turned back to Twins, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.

Asked about upcoming plans, Choi and Chung offered a teasing tease of their own, saying simply: “Stay tuned.”

Taiwan issues arrest warrant for OnePlus's CEO

Taiwanese officials have issued an arrest warrant for OnePlus CEO Pete Lau on allegations of illegally employing workers in Taiwan. Two Taiwanese citizens who worked for Lau have also been indicted. The China-based smartphone company has been accused of illegally recruiting more than 70 engineers from Taiwan.

Members of the Shilin District Prosecutors Office claim that OnePlus reportedly set up a shell company in Hong Kong with a distinct name, then launched a branch in Taiwan in 2015 without government approval. The branch reportedly worked on research and development for OnePlus mobile phones. Taiwanese officials claim these actions by OnePlus violated the Cross-Strait Act, which is designed as a guide for relations between Taiwan and mainland China. One of the act’s provisions requires Chinese companies to obtain permission from the Taiwanese government to hire workers from Taiwan.

Sega was founded by Martin Bromley and Richard Stewart in Hawaii as Nihon Goraku Bussan[d] on June 3, 1960. Shortly after, it acquired the assets of its predecessor, Service Games of Japan. In 1965, it became known as Sega Enterprises, Ltd., after acquiring Rosen Enterprises, an importer of coin-operated games.

Mega Star Arena founder Paul Wong killed in Thailand crash, family confirms

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 — Paul Wong, the driving force behind Mega Star Arena at Sungei Wang Plaza, has died in a car crash in Thailand.

He was 56.

His family announced his death in a post on his official Facebook page, according to The Star, calling him a pioneering figure whose influence shaped Malaysia’s entertainment and live events scene for decades.

“With profound sadness, we announce that Paul Wong Chee Meng, founder of Mega Star Arena at Sungei Wang Plaza and a highly respected pioneer of the entertainment industry in Malaysia, passed away on Nov 22, 2025, in Thailand due to an accident,” the statement said.

Wong leaves behind his wife, Fanny Chia, and their children Billy, Jacky, Monique and Eason.

The Star reported that Wong’s role stretched far beyond managing events — he was a steady mentor to performers, promoters and production crews, and his company was the backbone of countless concerts, award shows and corporate showcases.

Tributes flowing in on social media praised his generosity, vision and the opportunities he opened for others, with many noting that Malaysia’s entertainment industry bears his imprint.

Friends and longtime collaborators also shared memories of his restless energy, deep love for music and the way he pushed the industry — and the people in it — to aim higher.
