DBKL Room Partition Ban – Personal Use Question

Goojihu23 — Wed, 04 Dec 2024 22:10:42 +0800

Hi everyone,

I live in a condominium with my mother and sister. Currently, my sister and I share the same room, but we’ve been thinking about adding a partition for privacy. The partition would only be for personal use, as we’re not renting out the unit or increasing the number of residents.

I read about DBKL’s rule banning room partitions in strata properties, and I’m not sure if it applies to this situation.

I’d like to know:

1. Does the rule apply to personal partitions meant for privacy within a family?
2. How is “overcrowding” defined in this context?

If anyone has faced a similar situation or has advice on how to approach condo management or DBKL, I’d really appreciate your input!
