New Laptop

Sorry, I am an old school guy.

I am thinking of getting a new laptop. Just realised now a days,laptop mostly comes with SSD only.

My current laptop which 3 or 4 years currently has 2 TB of HD space.

My question is, is 512GB SSD sufficient? The $ difference to 1TB SDD is quite a lot.

Software wise I probably install something like adobe PS, Lightroom and maybe some simple video editing tools. Some firewall and anti virus. Some simple program plus steam engine for games. M365 home . Firefox and edge. Maybe Dreamweaver or some simpler webpage editor. I guess that's about all.

So for file storage, what do most people use? External HDD?

My friends tell me to set up a home NAS storage, but my old numb brain might not be able to comprehend the setup. 😅 Moreover that's another bomb money wise. Currently I have two ext hardisk, manually mirroring all my backups, they are 6 and 3 yrs old so Just got a new one recently with intention to dupe one of them.

Any advise is appreciated.TIA.

For some this might be an eye opener. On the world scale, most of us are still doing pretty fine.

This might be a little dated. Mark up 3-5% yearly for inflation. It should be around there.
