Al Kisah...

Zahid, Tun M dan Najib ditangkap kerana beberapa kesalahan berat di Malaysia, jadi untuk jenayah berat mereka semuanya dijatuhkan hukuman 20 sebatan seorang.

Ketika mereka sedang menunggu sebatan, Hakim mengumumkan:

“Hari ini adalah hari jadi Isteri saya dan dia minta saya untuk membenarkan satu permintaan sebelum kamu disebat..”

Zahid yang pertama dan selepas berfikir seketika, dia pun berkata:

“Tolong ikatkan bantal dibelakang saya..” Bantal pun diikat tapi bantal itu hanya bertahan 10 sebatan dan Zahid terpaksa diangkat, berdarah dan menangis-nangis kesakitan.

Kemudian tiba giliran Najib. Apabila melihat Zahid dalam keadaan menderita, Najib pun tersenyum dan berkata:

“Ikatkan dua bantal di belakang saya..” Tetapi dua lapisan bantal itu cuma bertahan sehingga 15 sebatan dan Najib juga diangkat berdarah dan berteriak-teriak menangis.

Tun M yang terakhir tetapi sebelum dia berkata apa-apa, Hakim itu telah bercakap dahulu:

“Awak adalah yang paling pintar dan licik orangnya. Untuk ini, awak boleh minta dua permintaan!”

“Terima kasih Tuan Hakim.” Jawab Tun M. Untuk menghargai kebaikan tuan Hakim yang mulia, permintaan pertama saya ialah tuan berikan saya bukan 20 sebatan, tapi 100 sebatan!”

“Bukan saja awak seorang yang terhormat dan pernah jadi orang paling berkuasa suatu masa dulu, tapi awak juga seorang yang sangat berani” kata Hakim itu dengan rasa kagum kepada Tun M.

“Jika permintaan awak 100 sebatan, maka permintaan itu dikabulkan.” “dan apa permintaan awak yang kedua?” tanya hakim itu. Tun M tersenyum lalu berkata,

“Ikatkan Najib di belakang saya”!!!

I purchased my first ever handphone in the year 2000

It was an Ericsson A1018. Changed the antenna to the oe with LED lights which lights up when there is an incoming call.

I bought a used set for about RM400 I think and spent another RM98 on a Digi prepaid starter pack.
Damn was prepaid packs expensive ...

Most of the time didn't have money to top up...only incoming calls only.

How about sharing on what was the first car you purchased?
It can be after SPM, Diploma, Degree, Masters, or Ph.D. or even before you finished tertiary education.

I will start the ball rolling.
The first car I purchased was a 2nd hand Proton Wira 1.3 (M) 97 model back in 2002. It was a full spec model and had an auto cruise function which was a wow for
a 21-year-old kid...

I put in MYR10k d/p for the car. The price of the car was MYR30k.
I saved up MYR5k and my dad top up another MYR5k.

I was into car mods at that time, and had plans and dreams of changing to a turbo engine and all.....but in the end...it's still stock standard till now with an NGV tank...LOL...
I still have that car with me...still in running condition....but quite beat up already.....progressively repairing and restoring it...

I have a lot of memories with it....my first date....my first ehem...ehem......the car was with me through thick and thin.....

Gov’t Should Not Be Blamed For Log Theft

As we all know, logging, whether legal or illegal, is rife in Kelantan. Heavy logging in the state has resulted in a number of concerning consequences, including the arrival of tigers in settlements, the destruction of waterfalls and more

Following Orang Asli protests in Kelantan over the construction of the Nenggiri hydroelectric dam, which would destroy their ancestral lands and protected forests, Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah announced that logging at the Nenggiri permanent forest reserves (HSK) in Gua Musang is licensed.

According to Berita Harian, Amar said that logging has long been contributing to the state’s income revenue.

Although logging is permitted, it must be done within the laws and not above the yearly logging quota set by the state government. He explained that the company carrying out the logging activities needs to follow the regulations approved by Penilaian Impak Alam Sekitar (EIA),” he explained.

He added that the logging issue is not a big deal because it’s an old story.

However, he said that the state government doesn’t deny that there have been log thefts in Kelantan. But he said that log thefts happen in other states too.

“When there’s log theft, the Menteri Besar or the state government shouldn’t be blamed. As an example, we don’t blame the father when a child steals because the one stealing is the child. That’s the same when it comes to the issue of log theft.”

“How long can it last?” – JKR Slammed By M’sians For ‘Fixing’ a Pothole On JB Road Incorrectly
This is why it is important for the relevant authorities to quickly get it fixed. However, we all know that it often takes time and at times it is not even done properly.

Recently, in a post that has since been deleted by the Public Works Department (JKR), images of an officer fixing a pothole in Hala Pasir Gudang, Perling, Johor were shared. The images were reshared by the Facebook page Kelab Info Malaysia.

The caption on the original post says, “Congratulations! This is the work that we want,” along with the hashtag #jasakepadarakyat (service to the people)

“Did you fix it with your feet?!”

Although it seemed like a relatively standard post, it went viral as Malaysian road users had a lot to say about the picture and how the officer had ‘fixed’ the pothole.

Some netizens actually pondered on the necessity for the action to be recognized and praised since it is in the nature of JKR’s duty to fix the pothole. Meanwhile, others took the time to criticize the outcome of the ‘fixed’ pothole.

“Did you fix it with your feet? I’m just asking.”

“Such outcome but the audacity for the #jasakepadarakyat,” said another user.
A few other netizens also questioned JKR on how long they think that the ‘fix’ will last.

A user commented that the damage will return by the next day.

One user took the time to explain how the pothole could’ve been done better.

“That’s it? Did JKR even observe?”

“Please upgrade your patching. Ask from the right sources if you don’t know. It’s not just about pouring the tar and compacting it like that,” added the user.

Last year, local contract-based doctors staged a protest under the Hartal Doktor Kontrak movement, due to the instability they faced over the lack of permanent positions available to them.

Since then, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has offered 300 contract-based doctors permanent placements at hospitals in Sabah and Sarawak but to their surprise, only 200 of them accepted the jobs.

Since then, the movement has shared that we’re currently facing a lack of doctors due to the very fact that many of them would rather quit than take on permanent offers in East Malaysia.

In a Twitter post, Hartal Doktok Kontrak shared, “We are running out of doctors, sooner than we think. Even we at Hartal didn’t expect these kinds of numbers.”

They added, “Those who were recently interviewed, even if they get a permanent post but if they have to move to Sabah or Sarawak, some will definitely not take the offer, finish their contract and leave.”

They added that this is the personal decision of these young doctors.

“That depends on their own personal preference and we have no say in that. Those who are willing will go, those who aren’t, won’t.”

The situation has started a heated debate amongst netizens
Many of them believe that doctors shouldn’t be picky with where they’re placed, especially if they’ve been hoping for permanent positions under the Ministry.

Who's to blame for KTM's poor service?

It was a busy day in the airwaves today as both the Railwaymen’s Union of Malaya and Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong fired shots at each other over problems with Keretapi Tanah Melayu’s (KTM) train service.

Railwaymen’s Union of Malaya president Abdul Razak Md Hassan told Free Malaysia Today (FMT) that the ministry was interfering with the operations of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).

He said the train sets the ministry had bought through direct negotiations were of poor quality. The train sets require frequent maintenance and have shorter lifespans which will only contribute to problems for KTMB.

Other than that, he also said that the ministry has not been transparent about projects involving the train service and KTMB’s efforts to improve railway facilities.

Razak pointed out that the people’s reluctance to use public transport such as the KTM trains due to poor service was the transport ministry’s fault. He alleges that the ministry is delaying KTMB-related projects on purpose.

As an example, Razak cited the second phase of the Klang Valley Double Tracking Project (KVDT2). The delays in the project meant that trains cannot be operated frequently causing inconvenience to commuters.

With the delays, Razak also believes that KVDT2 can't be completed by 2026, which is a date promised by Wee Ka Siong last October.

According to FMT, the project was in legal limbo since the former administration under Muhyiddin Yassin terminated the contract. Finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz had cancelled the project claiming that KVDT2 was awarded through direct negotiations by Pakatan Harapan.

Wee has since fired back at the union over Razak’s “wild allegations” during a press conference held today (9-June-2022).
He claims that the procurements made by the ministry underwent a stringent process and that any direct negotiations would be overseen by a committee.

He also stresses that any purchase of new train sets followed specifications set by the ministry.

M’sian Parent Blames Teacher 4 Punishing Son

Random spot checks on the hair of the students in primary & secondary schools are 1 of the most dreaded “roadblocks” that we had to go through in the past.
Up until today, students are still expected to endure a similar phenomenon. But it seems that not all parents are happy with it.

recently, in a now-deleted Facebook page, a mother expressed her disappointment towards the teacher who gave her son a haircut as a punishment.

In the post, the mother shared a couple of images of her son which were taken during Raya, before the haircut punishment took place. She explained that ever since the punishment, her son has been quiet unlike his usual self.

“He used to be a happy kid and now he’s not saying a word,” she said.

The mother went on to explain how obedient her son, who is a school prefect has always been.

“He helped me a lot at home and he’s someone disciplined at school, always abide by the rules. He is also a loving brother.”

The haircut at school, however, changed things. Now, he’s depressed and feeling down to the extent where he’s not leaving the room to eat, except to get up and shower.

“The only way to fix the damage on his hair is to go completely bald,” she said.

The mother also said that her son was allegedly the only one to have his hair cut and that his hair has always been like that since the commencement of the school semester.

The haircut also caused her son to hide in the toilet cubicles before he eventually decided to walk home with his damaged hair.

When asked why he returned home, his mother said that he did not respond but instead, covered his face and cried.

“I always tell my kids about respect. But I can’t believe the teacher disrespected him.”

Give him back his dignity!

She continued her post by highlighting the sadness to see the changes in the emotions of his son. “Son, mommy miss the old you,” she added.

The mother later sent a message to the discipline teacher who was responsible for cutting the hair of her son.

“Please give him back his dignity as a school prefect. Give him back the spirit that he had lost.”

No M’sian Lawyers With His Expertise

A Royal Counsel (QC) from the United Kingdom (UK), Jonathan Laidlaw has applied for permission to represent former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in his appeal of the RM42 million SRC International Sdn Bhd fund embezzlement case.

Based on a report by Astro Awani, the notice of originating motion involving the UK lawyer was filed by the law firm of Messrs Shafee & Co at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on 31 May, which was the deadline for the filing process

Laidlaw had since applied to be accepted and registered to represent Najib as the lead counsel in the appeal of the SRC case in the Federal Court and other related matters.

Among the reasons for Laidlaw’s application is that the appeal of Najib’s SRC case will involve serious, complex and important issues related to several branches of criminal and civil law, practice and evidence, appellant’s constitutional rights, handling of proceedings by the prosecution, sentencing of criminal cases by the court hearing the trial and administration of the Criminal Justice System.

Najib also allegedly wanted a professional as his lead counsel in this case as Laidlaw has qualifications, experience and expertise that are not possessed by lawyers in Malaysia.

On 25 January, a letter was submitted to the Secretariat of Chief Justice, Tun Tengku Maimun Tian Mat on Najib’s intention to appoint a QC to assist him on complex issues and legal questions in the appeal of the SRC case at the Federal Court.

This comes after the Court of Appeal, on 8 December 2021, upheld his conviction and sentenced him to 12 years in prison as well as a RM210 million fine for misappropriating the SRC funds. He has since filed an appeal to the Federal Court.

OKU Arrested For Raising Chickens & Ducks

Living together in a residential area is no easy feat. While most people are able to have their own peace in their respective houses, disturbances in shared spaces such as the nearby playground or roads can also be troubling for residents.

Recently, a man in Kuantan has been arrested by the police for raising chickens and ducks in front of his house and for playing a radio loudly in a residential area in Lorong Permatang Badak.

According to a Facebook post in the group, INFO BERITA SEMASA, the man’s irresponsible behaviour which was caught on video apparently went viral on social media.

He would allegedly play music from a radio so loudly that it disturbs the public’s peace and comfort. It is also claimed that the man would threaten neighbours with a machete if they were to rebuke him.

This has caused fear and anxiety amongst the community there.

The man, who is suspected to be mentally-challenged, was sent to the hospital yesterday for further examination, according to Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd. Zahari Wan Busu.

“The suspect who is believed to have mental problems was sent to Kuantan Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) for further examination.”

In the comments section, half of the netizens approved of the arrest.

They praised the police for doing their jobs well because being mentally challenged is not an excuse for someone to trouble their neighbours.

One netizen even went so far to say that the man should just be sent to Tanjung Rambutan, a place known for being the location of the nation’s oldest and most popular ‘mental asylum’.

On the other hand, there were a couple of netizens who tried to defend the man by saying that it would be helpful for us to initiate interactions with people like him as it can build mutual respect.

“People like this… we should have a meal while chatting… they will definitely respect us. I’ve done this before with my previous neighbour,” suggested a user.

Veterans Assemble Peacefully 4 Pension and Welfare

500 M’sian Veterans Assemble Peacefully to Ask For Welfare & Equal Pension

Veterans around the world risk their lives for a better nation.
However, on 6 June, around 500 veterans gathered at Tugu Negara as a sign of protest. The peaceful assembly was for them to request welfare, equal rights, and pay for the veterans.

More specifically, these are what they were asking for:

Pension adjustment,
Rights to be given to ex-army officers who are not recognized as a veteran,
A pardon for ex-army officers who have been discharged under disciplinary issues.
The pension adjustment is needed as there is a big pension rate gap between officers who retired in 2013 (only given a 2% increase) and 2014 (given a 60% hike). Other than that, those who served less than 21 years in the army are not eligible for a monthly pension.

Retired Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) officer Major Mior Rosli said that he has been fighting for these 3 things for 8 years already.

“I don’t have any other choice and if I need to see the minister again, then it would be the same. Going here and there, turning round and round without a solution.”

The retiree also said that there are 330,000 military retirees who have been denied their rights and about 135,000 of them do not have pensions, as reported by Astro Awani.

According to Sinar Daily, he added that most of them were living in poor conditions and are in the B40 income group.

Meanwhile, another protester named Kamaruddin added, “We were at the frontlines fighting the communists but it seems that what we did is not appreciated.”

However, this group has made it clear that they are apolitical and that the assembly was not to threaten the Ministry of Defence, according to Utusan Malaysia.

“This protest is not to blackmail the Ministry of Defence but it has been 8 years since I started fighting using the right channels but it didn’t work.”

It even caught the attention of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as well as Muar MP Syed Saddiq who both urged the government to listen to their pleas.

These are the heroes of our nation and they have contributed much to the foundations of it, why are we not protecting their welfare?”

In the latest development by Free Malaysia Today, Dang Wangi district police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said that an investigation paper has been opened under Section 9 of the Peaceful Assembly Act which states that organizers should notify the relevant district police chiefs at least 10 days prior to an assembly.

Failure to do so will result in a fine of less than RM10,000.

Up till now, 6 people have given their statements to the police and the authorities are tracking others attendees to help with the investigations.

By now, most of us can easily name the malls which are still standing and doing well in the Klang Valley alone. Unfortunately, not every place will stay the same forever.
Yesterday (6 June), the Facebook page Malaysia Shopping Mall shared multiple images of the current situation in 1 of the oldest malls in Kuala Lumpur – Plaza OUG

Plaza OUG during public holidays. Plaza OUG will be demolished soon by this year and makes way for 2 highrise buildings…

On public holidays, malls are expected to be crowded but not in this case. With most of the shops unoccupied, the caption of the post has broken the hearts of fans of the place.

“Plaza OUG will be demolished by this year to make way for a highrise building with a shopping mall & a basement car park.”

According to the caption, most of the tenants in Plaza OUG have moved out and even Parkson has also left last year.

Last year, The Edge Market reported that there are plans to redevelop Plaza OUG into a:

6-storey shopping complex,
a 30-storey hotel with 312 rooms
41-storey serviced apartment with 361 units.

A trip down the memory lane

Many of us enjoy staying in hotels during short trips or for brief staycations. During the stay, the majority of parents will definitely ask their children to take the coffee and tea packets which are offered in the room to bring back home.
Recently, a netizen posted about how they had brought home these coffee and tea packets in addition to other things in the hotel room and the post has sparked quite a bit of debate.
According to Noodou, the original post which has since been deleted reads, “Is there anyone like me who goes to a hotel and calls the reception to ask for more Nescafé, sugar, creamer and mineral water before leaving? Also, take all the shampoo in there”.

“Some people say that this is ugly behaviour but I have already paid RM500 for a night, why can’t I ask for more of these things to take home?”

“At least it won’t be such a loss. If we don’t take it, others will! So I don’t think it’s a shame to take everything home,” added the person.

“I called (the reception) 2 times in one night, took everything and here are my spoils! Now I can make coffee at home with a ‘hotel feel’,” they said.

Actions sparked debate

Netizens were left divided over the post as some felt that they were entitled to take it as they had already paid for it.

“I take the small shampoo containers, they are very cute and can be treated as souvenirs. You can also refill them with your own shampoo to bring on trips, it’s very convenient,” commented a user.

Some believe that it’s alright to take it when you first check-in but requesting for it repeatedly is questionable.

“I wouldn’t ask for more, will just take whatever that’s left when I check out,” said a user.

On the other hand, others replied sarcastically. “Why not ask the reception to give you the coffee and tea packets that the other occupants left behind,” asked a user.

A video of an apparently malnourished tiger roaming on a hill by the roadside was recently shared on Twitter by Malaysian actress Sharifah Sofia.
The majestic cat looked skinny as it slinked around the low-lying plants covering the side of the gentle slope.

Sharifah, whose impassioned tweet came just a couple of weeks after she finished her walk for tigers, is known for her nature and wildlife activism.
In her tweet, she shares, “THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS NO MORE JUNGLE!!!! Just look how thin the poor thing is.”

She then went on to explain that the tiger was spotted roaming around so near to humans not because it was out “sight-seeing” but it is because it is looking for food.

She elaborated by saying that deforestation is to be blamed because it destroys the habitats of tigers as well as other animals. Without the rainforest, wildlife cannot hunt for food.

Noting the close proximity of the tiger to human populations in the video, one netizen expressed their awe at being able to see the tiger so up close.

While Sharifah acknowledged that the tiger sighting was indeed rare and sublime, it is actually “a very terrifying scenario.”

She said, “I met someone a couple of weeks ago during my walk and she said his friends done kena makan by a tiger just behind her house.”

However, she also added that while it is a very scary thing, seeing the endangered animal outside of its habitat “should be more sad than scary.”

Most of the netizens seem to agree as they expressed their sadness and frustration.

“I don’t know why but every time I see tigers, tapirs, or elephants wandering near the road, I feel so sad. It’s because I know that they’ve lost their homes…. forests cut down.”
