KUALA LUMPUR 7 Ogos - Presiden MCA, Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong mempamerkan kebolehannya menulis nama sendiri dalam tulisan Jawi yang dilihat sebagai hasrat beliau menyokong tulisan tersebut.

Hal berkenaan dikongsikan oleh Ahli Parlimen Ayer Hitam itu menerusi akaun Facebook beliau semalam dengan turut memuat naik gambar namanya ditulis dalam tulisan Jawi.

Beliau turut berkongsikan tanda pagar #HayatiSeniKhat dalam akaun media sosial tersebut.

"Saya memang mempelajari seni khat secara tidak formal sejak kecil. Walaupun tidak sehandal mana, tapi saya mampu menulis nama sendiri Wee Ka Siong.

"Ketika menjadi Menteri dan Timbalan Menteri dahulu, nama saya dalam tulisan Jawi memang sentiasa dipaparkan di papan tanda pada pintu pejabat dan juga kad nama saya," katanya dalam akaun media sosial beliau semalam.

Dalam perkongsian Facebook yang berasingan, Ka Siong yang juga satu-satunya Ahli Parlimen MCA berkata, partinya mengalu-alukan sesiapa sahaja yang berminat untuk mempelajari tulisan Jawi yang baginya mampu menonjolkan kepelbagaian budaya bangsa Malaysia.

Jelasnya, MCA berpendapat bahawa apa yang ada dalam buku teks mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu Tahun 5 Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) sekarang yang memberi pendedahan kepada pelajar tentang seni khat, tulisan Tamil dan kaligrafi Cina boleh dikekalkan.

Tambah beliau, kalau seni khat hendak dimasukkan ke dalam mata pelajaran seni SJKC bersama komponen seni dan kaligrafi lain, atau dijadikan aktiviti ko-kurikulum, memang boleh.

"Malah, sekiranya diperkenalkan kelas elektif seni khat atau subjek pilihan kepada pelajar juga tiada masalah.

"Tetapi, bukan dengan cara mewajibkan penguasaan seni khat demi mempelajari simpulan bahasa, pepatah dan peribahasa," kata beliau.

Beliau berkata, dirinya sendiri belajar tulisan Jawi pada usia 14 tahun.

"Saya juga sentiasa menasihati pelajar SJKC supaya meningkatkan penguasaan bahasa Melayu kerana sebagai anak kampung, saya tahu betapa pentingnya bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa kebangsaan, bahasa perpaduan dan lingua franca dalam nusantara," katanya. -

FAQ on the issue of khat calligraphy segment for the Bahasa Malaysia syllabus in Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools

1. What is the issue?

Revised Primary School Standards-Based Curriculum (KSSR) for the Standard 4 Bahasa Malaysia syllabus will introduce khat calligraphy as part of the additional segment.

2. What is the purpose of the introduction of khat writing?

Khat calligraphy serves as an aspect of language arts to enrich students with knowledge on history, art and heritage of Bahasa Malaysia.

3. How khat calligraphy is segmented?

It will take up 6 out of 164 pages of the new Bahasa Malaysia Standard 4 textbook as part of language art activities.

4. Will students master Jawi through these 6 pages?

The implementation of khat calligraphy is not comprehensive learning to master Jawi but to enhance the knowledge on history, art and heritage of Bahasa Malaysia.

5. Will the implementation happen in SJK only?

No. This introduction of khat calligraphy involves all primary schools; SK and SJK.

6. When was this decision to include khat calligraphy made?

The introduction of khat calligraphy is decided during the revision of the curriculum (KSSR) in 2014.

7. Will this implementation target only Year 4?

The introduction of khat calligraphy is for Level 2 students which will involve Year 4 in 2020, Year 5 in 2021 and Year 6 in 2022. There will be no involvement for Level 1 students (Year 1 – 3).

8. Will khat calligraphy be tested in tests and exams?

No. Khat calligraphy is not to be tested and assessed.

9. Why non-Malay students are forced to study khat calligraphy?

The introduction of khat calligraphy is meant as an attempt to enhance the knowledge on history, art and heritage of Bahasa Malaysia, not as a force.

In addition to this, Jawi script writing has also been taught in SJK through Bahasa Malaysia curriculum since 2015. This can be referred to SJK Year 5 (2015 edition) page 85 to 88 under Theme 6; Culture and Nation Appreciation (Unit 17 – The Writing Art).

10. Why khat calligraphy instead of coding and the others?

KPM introduced coding to primary and secondary students through the revised Primary School Standards-Based Curriculum (KSSR) and Secondary School Standards-Based Curriculum (KSSM) in 2017.

This involves Level 2 students (Year 4 – 5) in primary school and Form 1 – 3 in secondary school. The element of coding is incorporated within the subject of Technology Design and Computer Science.

i estimate there are around 1000. during lunch time they go down and terrrorize domain 5 in shifts.

there is even a shoplot recently open. two units under one shop. i estimate budget rental around 50k per month.

i asked their bus driver, they say they dont know.

asked grab driver, most said they wont tell what they are doing.

i asked them myself, they cant speak english for shit. even ordering food they just point at pictures.

their face is young, mostly around 20s. smoking and littering the domain.
