Aside from beers, nuts, and traditional Chinese kuih, boxes of mandarin oranges also serve as a “reminder” that CNY is here without saying CNY is here. It’s common for Malaysians to give away boxes of mandarin oranges during the festive season.

A Malaysian man, however, was not happy to receive a box of mandarin oranges from his employer. In a widely circulated post reshared by Wa Fans, the man is heard ranting his anger about the amount of mandarin oranges he received – 1 box of the fruits that was meant to be shared, with each person only allowed to take 3 pieces of mandarin oranges.

“My kid alone can eat half the box of the oranges.”

In his caption, he also wished for the big company – his workplace’s business to crumble and close its doors for being stingy to the employees.

“It’s not even a big box. Stupid,” the man vented and showed a thumbs down for the small gift.

Following the circulation of the video, the man has received criticism for being ungrateful. Not long after, he shared another video to explain his situation.

“I’m not being ungrateful, my boss is just stingy”

The man explained that it was never his intention to be ungrateful but he was merely trying to tell others that he was working for a stingy employer.

“I’m not asking him to respect me. It’s fine to not have bonuses but at least show some appreciation.”

The man, who claimed to work as a crane operator said that his job and workplace are full of hazards, and all he wanted was just some appreciation.

“I try my best to do what my boss wants everytime, even if it means putting my life in danger.”

He eventually apologised for wishing ill against his workplace.

“It’s okay. Sometimes, people just can’t understand if they’re not in our shoes.”

The video, however, has since been removed.

Report Customs duty evasion and get a reward, says Ahmad Maslan

PORT DICKSON: The Customs Department is offering a reward of 10% of the value of the seizure to any individual who provides accurate information on the evasion of customs duties and taxes as well as the perpetrators.

Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the goods included cigarettes, liquor and vehicles.

He added that the identity of the informant would be kept confidential.

"If the value of the seizure is worth RM1mil, then 10%, which is RM100,000, will be given to the informant.

"There is indeed a provision for informants that we will evaluate according to category.

"We hope that more people will contact Customs if they see something suspicious, we consider these informants as Category A, which means that when Customs arrives at the place, they can immediately arrest the perpetrators and seize the goods. It also includes cases involving drugs," he said.

He said this after officiating the Negri Sembilan Customs Community Service 2023 programme which was also attended its state director Mohammad Hafiz Ishak here on Wednesday (July 19).

He added that information was needed to eradicate the activities that would harm the people and the country and that the rewards had been given out by Customs for a long time but had not been announced.

"There is still a lot of this evil work being done out there, therefore I call on everyone to come forward and pass on the information by contacting Customs in their respective areas... however, don't give false information," he said.

He said the duty and role of Customs is not only to collect taxes or revenue for the country but also to maintain national order.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafiz in his speech, said that Negri Customs had already recorded revenue collection amounting to more than RM300mil as of June 31 this year. The target for this year is RM588mil.

"I believe in the persistent efforts of the state Customs in improving the results which to some extent can help the government's efforts in rehabilitating the national economy and further help the people," he said. – Bernama

Of 10 analysts that cover the stock, eight analysts have “buy” calls, one had a “hold” recommendation while another had a “sell” call with an average TP of RM2.06.

Brewers also lost their fizz on Monday morning, with Heineken Malaysia Bhd losing RM453.15 million in market capitalisation after falling 6.2% or RM1.54 to RM23.20, the lowest in three years.

Ten analysts maintained their “buy” calls on Heineken, while one recommended “hold” and one had a “sell” call on the brewer.

Meanwhile, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, which manufactures both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, lost RM299.63 million in market value.

At close, shares of Carlsberg fell 5.2% or RM1.20 sen to RM22, marking its steepest decline in 22 months.

Eight analysts rated the stock a “buy” while three had “hold” calls, and one had a “sell” recommendation.

PETALING JAYA: Majority of the Umno supreme council members are supportive of withdrawing support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Prime Minister, insisted Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (pic).

The Umno secretary-general explained that 50 out of 56 supreme council members had signed a form to agree with the withdrawal of support for Muhyiddin prior to the Umno supreme council meeting last Wednesday.

"The differences of opinion only arose on when we should pull our support," he said, when contacted on Monday (July 12).

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had announced that the party would withdraw its support for Muhyiddin as the Prime Minister after a virtual supreme council meeting on Wednesday night that stretched till the early hours of Thursday.

Ahmad Maslan added that during the meeting late Wednesday night (July 7), only a small number of the supreme council members had agreed to delay the withdrawal of support for Muhyiddin.

"Some suggested we should do it when Parliament reconvenes, or some other time," he said.

He also noted that the supreme council has the right to interpret the decision of the Umno General Assembly, who had agreed to let the president and the supreme council members to decide the exact time to withdraw support from Muhyiddin.

He also revealed that from the total of 56 supreme council members, only two did not sign.

He also reiterated that the supreme council also agreed that it would not cooperate with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim or DAP, as the party wants to lead if it manages to form a government.

On whether the president's decision to pull out support for Muhyiddin means that Umno ministers holding government positions needed to resign, he said that Umno only wanted Muhyiddin to resign.

"That is what we are asking for, we never asked anyone else to resign," said Ahmad Maslan.

CANBERRA, Australia: A speeding driver in Australia was sentenced to 10 months in prison on April 28 for offenses including what a judge described as the “heartless, cruel and disgraceful” filming of four dead and dying police officers who had just been hit by a truck on a freeway.

Richard Pusey, a 42-year-old mortgage broker, had earlier pleaded guilty in the Victoria state County Court to a rarely-prosecuted charge of outraging public decency over his commentary in crash scene videos shot with his phone. It was the first time the charge had been prosecuted in the state since 1963.

The most serious charge he admitted was reckless conduct endangering persons, which carries a potential maximum of five years in prison.

Judge Trevor Wraight sentenced Pusey to 10 months in prison, backdated to when he was taken into custody 296 days ago.

Police had pulled Pusey over for driving his Porsche at 149 kilometers (93 miles) per hour on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway in April last year.

Police were considering impounding the sports car because Pusey had far exceeded the 100 kph (62 mph) speed limit when a truck crashed into the officers, Porche and two police cars in an emergency stopping lane.

Pusey, who avoided injury because he had been urinating behind roadside bushes at the time, did not help but instead filmed the scene.

His profanity-laden commentary while filming included “he’s smashed”, “justice”, “absolutely amazing” and “beautiful.”

“I think everyone got cleaned up,” Pusey said. “I guess I’ll be getting a... Uber home, huh.”

When one of five bystanders who came to the aid of the stricken officers asked Pusey to help, he replied: “They’re dead”, and continued filming.

Wraight described Pusey’s conduct as “callous and reprehensible”.

“Your conduct... was heartless, cruel and disgraceful,” the judge said.

Wraight told Pusey that ongoing media coverage of the case showed that the “public has demonised you”.

The judge said while Pusey’s personality disorder might go some way to explain his behaviour, it was a serious case of conduct that outraged public decency.

Pusey had also pleaded guilty to speeding offences and possessing the illicit drug ecstasy, which he tested positive to using along with cannabis in roadside testing after he was pulled over. He was fined Aus$1,000 (RM3,176) and was disqualified from driving for two years.

While his sentence is almost completed, he is likely to remain in custody for unrelated matters.

Two weeks ago, Mohinder Singh, the truck driver who killed the four officers, was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

He had been drug-effected and sleep-deprived when he struck the officers and pleaded guilty to four counts of culpable driving causing death, three charges of drug trafficking and one of possessing illicit drugs. – AP

LUMUT (Bernama): An insurance agent was badly injured after he was slashed with a knife by a customer following an argument over policy matters in a house at Marina Villa here Sunday (June 7).

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Nor Omar Sappi said in the noon incident, the suspect, in his 20s, also hit six vehicles while fleeing the scene.

"After slashing the victim, the suspect escaped using a Toyota Vellfire. While driving towards Sitiawan town, the suspect also hit six other vehicles.

"The suspect then ran off to a nearby building and stole a Proton Saga BLM, ” he said in a statement here Monday (June 8).

Nor Omar said the police managed to arrest the injured suspect at about 2.30pm in Seri Manjung while the Proton Saga BLM was found at a oil palm estate in Gurney Town.

He said the police also seized a knife believed to be used in the incident and the victim is being treated at the Seri Manjung Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 and 392 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon, and robbery. - Bernama
