Hey everyone, does anyone have experience about claiming LAD which was extended during this mco period?

I heard of rumours or news here and there saying the LAD calculation period will be paused during the mco period from 18 March to 31 August.

Anyone heard or have any proof the above statement is true?

Liabilities of sharing an address

Hi all,

Just wondering a situation (as my friend asked me),

If my friend wants to open a bank account in SG, and so happens I have a house in SG, so my friend wants to use my house address (as SG banks require the home address in SG). If I provide him my address, would there be any potential problems I may face?

Extreme scenarios I thought of:

-Tax people will come find me and cause problem to me and my family in SG?
-My friend gets bankrupt or get into problems with money, they will find ways to lelong my house?
-ETC

Though it seems to be worrisome, but I am not sure, as it may just be a correspondent address needed (to send letters, etc). Am I over-worrying?

Any constructive comments is deeply appreciated (guys from financial field?) Thanks!

New MBA Questions

Hi guys,

I am intending to get a new MBA, and saw that the new MBA and MBP are already out! woohoo!

Now, I do know that the ram are soldered onto the system for MBA, therefore my wait until now (8GB)

however, I am thinking of keeping my costs down, therefore I have a few questions:

-do anyone has experience of doing this >>

buying a MBA with smaller 256GB SSD, then maybe when the SSD prices fall in the future, then get a bigger SSD. Questions are:

-How to "get a bigger SSD" actually?
-Purchase an OEM one from lowyat or somewhere?
-Where to get them? Ebay? Lowyat forum? lelong or mudah?
-Is it difficult to install, or quite simple, aka. like changing rams and hdd on standard notebooks?
-Anyone with experience on doing this? Please do advise

next, as for the apple care, I researched and am pretty sure I can purchase it within the one year period, this is true right? (not so much cash with me la.. so wanna purchase it later..)

relatively new to the apple scene (in terms of macbooks..)

I am considering getting a macbook air/pro and bootcamp it to run on win7 mainly for my visual studio 2010 projects.

1) any ideas if the above is a good idea?

2) i am thinking of getting a 2nd hand set to play with. How could I transfer the ownership (of the warranty) to me? What's the steps required? And,

2.5) if I get apple care extend, it probably means I must get the ownership transferred, right? otherwise i am actually 'extending' other people's warranty instead?

How is a land valued?

Not sure if I should start a new topic here, since I can't really find any suitable ones, but..

To land and property sifus here, could you offer some insight:-

Basic question: How is a land valued? I'm talking about plantation land, at least 5 acres and above. (Oil Palm) In general, I'm talking per acre basis.

I understand IMO that land is valued by:-

-How close it is from the main road.

-Any residential/factory properties nearby (which attracts developers to build on your land)

-Location

-Age of trees (Oil Palm), and the tonnage yield/acre

-Anything else?

And how are they valued? Eg:

>Beside main road, for non-urban places like Perak, or Johor for example.

>Land with residential/industrial properties right beside them. Would this increase in value by many folds? Or reduce? Or?

Just in case people ask: those examples I gave are some that I have interest in, so I'm wondering how to value them properly, how a valuer does his/her job.

Side Q: What's considered a small estate, a medium estate?

First post suddenly empty

it seems that the first post gone empty, for some reason. I did not edit it at all, so it couldn't possibly be from my side.

Zyxel VS Riger (TM modem)

Somehow all along, I was using my TM Riger modem, and the Internet speed was smooth, the line was great, my ping to my datacenter located in Cyberjaya gives me a modest average 50ms (49-51 ms) ping reply... This is fine with me, I mean, 50 ms isn't that bad. Besides playing online games and etc, the line serves no problem. The "flying spaghetti monster" gaming platform pings to other KL friends shows me about 60-90ms.

Thumbs up for the TM modem I guess.

btw forgot to add, I am located in Kampar, Perak.

Few days ago, I took out my older Zyxel modem to try out of curiosity. And guess what? My ping to the datacenter in Kl only returns me average 15 ms (13-16 ms)! Such a big difference! In flying spaghetti monster, I get 30 ms. It's like 2x faster in terms of ping speed. BUT, when gaming, there are frequent disconnections.

Why the difference? Please don't tell me Zyxel modem older... hey older but ping lesser by half?
