Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 is a rebrand of Android 10

Huawei is being dishonest in marketing HarmonyOS 2.0 as a brand-new OS; beta reveals it to be an EMUI 11 rebrand based on Android 10.

Huawei may brag that HarmonyOS 2.0 is a 'brand-new distributed operating system', but Ars Technica has discovered that the company is telling porkies. Instead, HarmonyOS 2.0 is nothing more than a renamed EMUI 11, and one that Harmony requires a passport or a drivers licence to try out.

Huawei describes HarmonyOS 2.0 in grand terms, declaring that it is 'a brand-new distributed operating system for all scenarios'. Indeed, the company has positioned HarmonyOS as an alternative to Android, with CEO Richard Yu unequivocally stating that the OS is 'completely different from Android and iOS'. An Ars Technica deep-dive suggests otherwise, though.

Instead, HarmonyOS 2.0 looks nothing more than a rebrand of EMUI 11, Huawei's custom version of Android 10 to which it is currently upgrading multiple devices worldwide. Not only does HarmonyOS 2.0 rely on EMUI 11's UI, but it depends on Android 10 and all its core components. Moreover, Huawei has simply renamed components 'HarmonyOS' in some cases, although it clearly has forgotten to do so with with others

Kek tot it godlike os gonna beat android but in reality it a fork of android 10 hahahah topkek

More info : sos

CCP angry at Taiwan

Taiwan has intensified its efforts to raise its global profile by offering to donate urgently needed face masks and medical aids to other countries – a move that has angered Beijing.
Observers said Taiwan’s efforts to control the Covid-19 outbreak had highlighted the strengths of its medical system and increased its visibility on the world stage.
It has also been praised by world leaders, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen saying the EU is thankful for Taiwan’s efforts and gestures of solidarity,
while the US state department described Taiwan as a true friend.
But Beijing’s response was less complimentary. Foreign ministry spokesman Hua Chunying said Taiwan prohibited the export of masks when the outbreak was at its height on the Chinese mainland,
and said the island should not play any “political tricks” to gain accession to the World Health Organisation.

She said that Chinese companies and individuals had also donated medical supplies to the US, and questioned why there had been no official recognition of those efforts.
“It is appropriate to give mutual support and help during this pandemic. But the US and Taiwan should be reminded that if there is anyone trying to use this pandemic to play
political games and hurt China’s core interests, they should be very careful”.
Beijing considers Taiwan part of its territory awaiting reunification with the mainland, by force if necessary.
It has warned other countries against supporting the island’s efforts to join global organisations like the WHO, which does not recognise it as a sovereign state.

Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen explained that the ban on mask exports had been lifted because the island could not stand by while other countries were in dire need of help.
“I want to tell the international community that Taiwan will actively bolster our cooperation with all countries to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” she said on Wednesday, adding if
the pandemic were not brought under control it would never end and Taiwan would remain in danger.
“At this stage, we will donate 10 million face masks, or around one day’s production, to support medical workers in countries where the Covid-19 outbreak is particularly severe. Later on, we will provide even more support to the international community based on our domestic production capacity,” she said.
Tsai also offered to share the island’s electronic quarantine system that uses big data analytics.

Source for more info : SCMP

Come in CCP hanjing.
Come plotek ur motherland

China(CCP) checkmate? 🙃
Major European nations are seeking to raise their profile in the Asia-Pacific, with freedom of navigation operations and concern about rising tensions in the South China Sea signalling their desire to remain relevant in the region, analysts say.

“Until a few years ago, European countries preferred to keep a low profile on regional security issues in East Asia, but under the present circumstances there is a new urgency to be involved,” said Frans-Paul van der Putten, a senior research fellow at the Clingendael Institute, an independent think tank in the Netherlands.

“Sending warships to the South China Sea can provide European governments with more leverage when it comes to dealing with the US and China on geopolitical matters closer to home.

“Europe has long been accustomed to being situated between two great powers – the United States and Russia – but increasingly it is the US-China relationship that defines Europe’s geopolitical position. This creates new dilemmas for European governments, that are under increasing pressure to choose sides.”

sos

TLDR
As tensions rise in the region, heavyweights like Britain, Germany and France are keen to show they are more than just passive trading partners, analysts say

Sending warships to the disputed waters also ‘provides European governments with more leverage’ when dealing with the US and China on geopolitical matters closer to home 🤪

China(CCP) Targets Vietnam, Again

China is back to Vietnamese waters this week, with an eye on the country’s oil and gas.

Early on the week, a large crane ship owned by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), sailed to Vietnamese exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

That’s the kind of ship Beijing is using to install oil rings in the South China Sea.

China claims the South China Sea as its own sea, almost all of it, including the oil and gas resources hidden beneath. These are resources Beijing desperately needs nowadays, as America is cutting off its Middle-East supplies.

And China has been doing whatever it takes to assert its ownership rights on these resources. Like the building of artificial islands, and the sailing its vessels in disputed waters.

As expected, Beijing’s claims have irked its neighbors, which have taken different courses of action. On the one side, the Philippines has chosen to appease Beijing, though it has won an international tribunal case against China back in 2016 for the building of artificial islands.

Malaysia and Vietnam, on the other side, have chosen to stand up to Beijing, as discussed in previous pieces here. The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) conducted exercises to show off its missile power near the disputed maritime region.

Vietnam went further than that. It outlawed many of China’s ongoing actions in the South China Sea, including the building of artificial islands, blockades, and the deployment of offensive weaponry like missiles.

Meanwhile, it mobilized its forces to intimidate Chinese vessels that have sailed its waters.

Then, it teamed up with the Russian oil giant Rosneft to search for oil in areas disputed by China.

Unlike Manila’s soft strategies, Vietnam’s hard strategies appeared to have worked. Last month, a Chinese survey vessel which has been involved in a month-long standoff with Vietnamese naval forces, sailed away from Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

But now Vietnam becomes Beijing’s target again with a large crane ship returning to its waters.

Apparently, Beijing wants to keep an eye on the on the country’s partnership with Russia, and re-assert its South China Sea ownership.

While it’s still unclear whether a hard stance against Beijing will work this time around for Vietnam, one thing is clear: the country will continue to be China’s target, as Beijing tries to advance its South China Sea agenda.

TLDR: CCP deploy oil rig ship to Vietnam sea 🙄

sos
