Washington high school sophomore, 16, dies after being impaled through the eye by goal post in gym class in tragic freak accident

A sixteen-year-old high school sophomore from Washington state has died in a tragic sporting accident that saw him being impaled through the eye by a goal post.

Brayden Bahme died on Thursday after the accident at Cheney High School.

It's unclear exactly how the accident occurred, but school officials say he was running during a gym class when his eye was impaled on a section of a goal post.

Brayden was taken to a children's hospital where he later died from his injuries

Mexican man living in Texas is on the run after killing five of his neighbors, including an eight-year-old boy, because they asked him to stop practice firing his gun in his yard.

The man is yet to be publicly named. At 11.30pm last night, he opened fire on the family living next door to his home in Cleveland, a city north of Houston.

The neighbors - a family of ten all living together - has asked him to stop firing his weapon because they were trying to get a baby to sleep.

The gunman replied 'I'll do what I want in my front yard' and shot them with an AR-15 before fleeing.
When police arrived at the scene, they found two adult women dead at the front of the house, and a man lying dead in the living room.

The two women were covered in blood, according to San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers, and were lying on top of two young children who survived.

'In my opinion, they were actually trying to take care of the babies and keep them babies alive,' he said.

It's unclear where exactly the eight-year-old child was in the home.
All of the victims were from Honduras, according to police.

The gunman, who has not yet been publicly named, was said to have been drunk at the time.

Police described him as a Mexican man who is around 5ft 8. A warrant has been issued for his arrest with a $5million bond attached.

Doctors sound alarm over mysterious outbreak of brain infections in Nevada kids - and they believe it's linked to COVID lockdowns

Health officials are sounding the alarm over a spike in rare and serious brain abscesses in children in and around Las Vegas, Nevada.

Experts at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating the spate of cases, while doctors across America say they are also seeing a rise in cases.

The number of brain abscesses in minors tripled in Nevada last year, shooting up from an average of four or five a year to 18.

Dr Taryn Bragg, a pediatric neurosurgeon and associate professor at the University of Utah who treats the cases, told CNN she had 'never seen anything like it' in her 20 years' experience.

Physicians are not sure what has caused the rise, but said it could be due to weakened immunity to infections due to Covid measures such as lockdowns.

It arose that physicians across the US are observing more and more brain abscesses in younger populations.

Dr Sunil Sood, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Northwell Health, a health system in New York, guessed his facility was seeing at least double the usual amount of brain abscesses.

On their own, brain abscesses are not reportable, which means physicians do not have to tell public health officials when they occur.

Brain abscesses are pus-filled swellings in the brain. They normally happen when bacteria or fungi get into brain tissue after a infection or serious head injury.

Initial symptoms are headaches plus an intermittent fever. It can lead to seizures, changes to vision, vomiting, loss of muscle function on one side of the body, language problems and changes in mental status.

In the Clark County spike, around three-quarters of the cases happened in boys around age 12.

Dr Jessica Penney, the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service officer for Southern Nevada Health District, said that between 2015 and 2020, pediatric brain abscess cases remained a consistent four a year.

Investigators said the family had a 'history of tragedies', and Salinas has seven other children, including a 12-year-old girl she allegedly allowed to be sexually abused by a 30-year-old man.

Three high school seniors who killed a young woman by throwing a rock through her car window returned to the crash scene to take a picture of her vehicle.

Alexa Bartell, 20, was killed when Joseph Koenig, Nicholas 'Mitch' Karol-Chik and Zachary Kwak, all 18, hurled a landscaping rock through her windshield in Arvada, Colorado, on April 19.

The teenagers had launched several rocks at passing cars before the one that struck Bartell at about 10.45pm.

A sheriff's office arrest affidavit published on Thursday reveals that after the fatal attack, Kwak told the others: 'We have to go back and see that.' He then took a photo of the car, which had careered of the road, as a 'memento'.

The sickening details were revealed as the three men appeared in court on Thursday charged with first-degree murder with extreme indifference, which means they set out to kill but didn't care whom. They were held without bond after their brief hearings.

San Francisco's ex-fire commissioner has said the city is 'burning' after the District Attorney dropped charges against a vagrant who repeatedly bashed him in the head with a metal crowbar.

Don Carmignani, 53, was left fighting for his life after being brutally attacked on April 12, when he sprayed pepper spray at the homeless man outside his mother's home in the Marina District.

He suffered a fractured skull and jaw in the attack, and required 51 stitches after Garrett Doty, 24, allegedly beat him over the head with a crowbar.

Carmignani - who served as a fire commissioner in 2013 - claims his lawyers informed him that District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has decided not to prosecute Doty because he was acting in 'self-defense'.

According to the injured former fire chief, prosecutors say because he sprayed the homeless man with pepper spray, he instigated the vicious assault.

In a shock announcement Monday, the network announced his departure, saying his final show was on April 21st.

'FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways.

'We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,' the network statement read.

An interim roster of hosts will take over in his absence until a permanent replacement is chosen.

His departure comes days after Fox settled with Dominion Voting Systems which had sued for defamation, claiming hosts like Carlson knew President Trump's election fraud claims were untrue, but pushed them for ratings.

Dominion sued for $1.6billion and settled for $787million at the 11th hour, narrowly avoiding an embarrassing and highly-publicized trial where Carlson and other hosts would likely have been called as witnesses.

Carlson's show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, was the gleaming jewel of Fox's nightly line-up, drawing in 3.5million viewers every night.

But a series of recent controversies including the Dominion claims and his own comments about the January 6 riots led him into hotter water than even he was used to.

It's unclear how long he had left on his contract, or whether Fox will pay severance.

A 2020 report by CNN's Brian Stelter listed his salary as $10million-a-year. Carlson created the conservative news site The Daily Caller in 2010.

He sold his stake in 2020, three years after taking the helm with his own show at Fox, where he'd been a contributor for a number of years prior.

Six cattle were found dead in suspicious scenes across Madison County, Texas, this week — each with their tongues removed and no signs of a struggle, according to officials.

Madison County Sheriff's Department officials said in a statement posted to Facebook on Wednesday that each of the six cows had been found lying on its side, deceased, and mutilated. The first cow, a 6-year-old longhorn, was found by its owners on their ranch.

"A straight, clean cut, with apparent precision, had been made to remove the hide around the cow's mouth on one side, leaving the meat under the removed hide untouched," the statement read. "The tongue was also completely removed from the body with no blood spill. It was noted there were no signs of struggle and the grass around the cow was undisturbed. No footprints or tire tracks were noted in the area. "

A similar incident in Oregon was reported in 2019 by the Associated Press. Five bulls were found, drained of blood and missing their tongues and genitals, prompting theories about their deaths ranging from alien abduction to the occult.

"Personally, I would lean more toward the occult, where people for whatever reason — whether it's a phase of the moon or whatever rituals they're going to do with their beliefs — are coming to different areas and doing that," AP reported Harney County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Jenkins said of the Oregon incident.

In 2021, AP reported seven more cattle were found dead, missing their tongues, eyes, and blood.

It is unclear what may have caused the Texas cattle mutilations, though Madison County Sheriff's Department officials say an investigation is ongoing.

Experts are calling on America to crack down on 'gender bending' chemicals found in many everyday items after health officials in Europe slashed the cap to a new low.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical used in the production of plastics and aluminum cans that is present in a wide range of consumer products, from canned soups to sunglasses.

But experts have known for decades that BPA is an ‘endocrine disruptor’ - meaning it can imitate the body's hormones and interfere with the production of and response to natural hormones like estrogen.

European officials drastically reduced the maximum amount of BPA by 20,000 times after finding that millions of people are likely consuming too much of the dangerous chemical, further widening the gap between what the EU considers acceptable versus the US Food and Drug Administration.

Matthew Casale director of environmental campaigns at the Public Interest Research Groups told DailyMail.com: 'The FDA should take stronger steps to reduce our exposure to BPA in popular household products.'

BPA is relatively common in food packaging, cans, and plastic containers. And the problem of contamination is widespread in the US.

In a nationally-representative survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, researchers concluded found BPA in 93 percent of people six and older.

BPA has a similar shape and structure to the hormone estrogen and can bind to those estrogen receptors to influence a range of bodily processes from cell growth and repair to fetal development.

BPA contamination is also known to influence someone’s risk of obesity, asthma, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, and neurological problems.

Most concern around BPA in foods has focused on canned goods ranging from soups to tuna which are commonly lined on the inside with BPA to guard against corrosion and extend shelf life.

Shoppers who are handed their receipts after making a purchase may not be aware that they have come in contact with BPA, which leeches through the skin and enter the bloodstream.

Researchers from the Ecology Center in Detroit have found that a staggering 80 percent of paper receipts printed in 22 states and DC contain bisphenols, namely BPA and its chemical cousin Bisphenol-S (BPS).

BPA is found in a type of plastic called polycarbonate. Not all polycarbonate contains BPA, so people are advised to check the bottle itself for a number seven label.

The hardening properties of BPA make it ideal for building durable plastic food storage containers.

While the major brand Tupperware stopped using BPA in its products in 2010, people who have had older containers than that in their homes – they’re built to last, after all– are likely to be exposed to the chemical.

Rock star Jerry Lee Lewis has died at his Memphis home aged 87. The Great Balls of Fire singer passed away Friday - two days after TMZ first reported he'd died, only to subsequently issue a correction saying he was still alive.

A rep for Lewis confirmed his death Friday, after it was reported the ailing singer had been battling a severe case of flu.

In a length statement commemorating the singer's passing, spokeswoman Sujata Murthy said: 'Lewis, perhaps the last true, great icon of the birth of rock ‘n’ roll, whose marriage of blues, gospel, country, honky-tonk and raw, pounding stage performances so threatened a young Elvis Presley that it made him cry, has died.'

That left Lewis unable to attend a County Music Hall of Fame induction on October 16, with seventh wife Judith accepting the award on Lewis' behalf.

She said at the time that Lewis, a dad-of-seven, was alive and well - but less than a fortnight later he'd be dead.

Lewis was a father-of-six, and lost two of his children in tragic circumstances. His son Steve drowned in a swimming pool aged just three in 1962.

Another son, Jerry Lee Lewis Jr, died aged 19 in 1973 after overturning a Jeep he was driving.

The suspect tried to tie up Paul Pelosi 'until Nancy got home.' When police arrived, the suspect told them: 'We're waiting for Nancy,' CNN reported.

The suspect was identified as 42-year-old David Depape, according to San Francisco Police Department..

The intruder is in custody. Paul Pelosi is in the hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery, the speaker's office said.

The assault occurred at 2:27 a.m. at the Pelosis' $6 million property in the exclusive San Francisco neighborhood of Pacific Heights.

Seattle had the worst air quality out of all cities in the world for two days in a row this week, beating out notoriously polluted cities like Beijing and Delhi.

The city's horrible air quality was brought on by forest fires raging in the nearby Cascade Mountains, coupled with successive weeks of abnormally hot and dry weather in the region.

Smoke poured into the city streets and blotted out the sun and the skyline, and even left Mount Rainer completely shrouded in smoke and fog.

The view from atop the Seattle Space Needle was equally bleak, with most of the city lost behind an apocalyptic cloud of smoke during the daylight hours.

On Wednesday Seattle's Air Quality Index (AQI) topped 240, a level labeled 'very unhealthy' by the air quality monitor IQAIR. Beijing clocked a comparatively meager 'unhealthy' 167.

Many Seattle residents ventured outside only with masks on their faces, and the city was filled with the acrid scent of smoke, according to the Washington Post.

Washington State has been dealing with an unprecedented drought since June, and has also been dealing with months of unusually high temperatures.

Just this past Sunday, Seattle broke its record for this hottest day this late in the fall after clocking 88 degrees Fahrenheit.

Though Delhi, India, took the top spot for a spell by nightfall - currently Karachi, Pakistan reigns - Seattle has maintained a steady second place.

As of midnight Thursday, Seattle was clocking a 176 AQI, which IQAir deems 'unhealthy.'

The website recommended closing windows to keep out the filthy air, running air purifiers in doors, wearing masks outdoors, and avoiding outdoor exercise.
