SINGAPORE: Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines should consider a merger, said an equity analyst.

According to Maybank Kim Eng’a regional aviation analyst Mohshin Aziz, this would make both airlines more cost efficient to operate.

“This is my firm view,” he said.

Speaking at an Invest Asia 2019 presentation today, he said this would first need a change in mentality of people that an airline had to represent their respective countries.

“A merger between them will see a lot of improvements in terms of scheduling. Besides, relocation of assets can also be optimised,” he said.

“If the full service carriers can move away from this mentality, it will be very good for the business,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR 10 Mei - Mahkamah Majistret Ampang dekat sini hari ini melepas dan membebaskan Datuk Seri Liow Soon Hee daripada pertuduhan menyerang dan mencederakan tiga anggota Jabatan Sukarelawan Malaysia (Rela) di sebuah tokong dua tahun lalu.

Majistret Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali membuat keputusan berkenaan selepas pihak pembelaan diwakili Datuk Rajpal Singh memaklumkan dua mangsa yang merupakan anggota Rela iaitu Leong Jun Jie, 23, dan Lee Weng Poh, 29, bersetuju menerima penyelesaian dengan pampasan sebanyak RM2,000 setiap seorang.

Tiada bantahan dikemukakan oleh pihak pendakwaan yang diwakili Timbalan Pendakwa Raya, Nur Intan Syakieraah Zakaria tidak membuat sebarang bantahan.

Pada 4 November 2017, Soon Hee tertuduh didakwa atas empat pertuduhan iaitu menyebabkan cedera parah, menyerang penjawat awam dan mencederakan tiga anggota Rela yang sedang bertugas di pekarangan Tokong Kou Ong Yah, Jalan Merdeka, Kampung Baru Ampang, dekat sini kira-kira pukul 6.30 pagi, 27 Oktober lalu.- UTUSAN ONLINE

Would SRJK even exist today?

I cant speak for the other race, but i can say Chinese and Indian parents are very realistic and care about their children future. Given this scenario, most chinese and indian parents will choose english medium national schools over SRJK. Gradually, SRJK will extinct by itself and hence national unity is achieved.

But this does not happen today, because English is never the medium in national school.
