CIE A level results

Hi, I understand that CIE has stopped giving students their raw marks for each of their papers and instead only their grades and percentage uniform mark for each of their subjects (for A level).

1.Since when did CIE discontinue giving students their raw marks and why have they done this?

2. Why does my school still not have the raw marks for all my papers (I received my A Level results for the November 2020 series today 2pm GMT+8)? Is this normal? If so, then how long will it take for schools to get the raw marks?

3. If I ask for a re-mark for all of the papers of one or more of my subjects, how likely is it that my grades will be upgraded? My percentage uniform mark for my Mathematics is 87, only 3 away from an A*.

Engineering at uni: theory vs practical

Could anyone shed some light on whether top engineering schools around the world tend to focus more on theory or pratical or both?
What kind of jobs could you get if you graduate from a more practical-oriented engineering programme rather than a theoretical one and vice versa?

Can Malaysians walk faster?

We have one of the highest death rate from road accidents, our roads are among the most dangerous in the world because we drive unnecessarily fast- I don't know where exactly you're rushing to, perhaps desperately need to do a number 2?And when people drive just by the speed limit you get crazy. Campus speed limit is 30km/h but students/lecturers are often seen driving nearly double that speed. But the moment you step out of your car and walk on foot, SUDDENLY: aduuuh sooo slow like siput. Doesn't matter if it's raining or what, every malaysian just seem to walk so so slow. It's okay, we are very relaxed, laid back people, right guys? Lek lu, chill lu. Work starts at 8:30, it's okay. 8:20 baru on the way. Surprisingly a few of my malay friends are even proud to say stuff like "alah takpela, melayu kan".

PLEASE WALK FASTER. You are obstructing other people. Please don't be selfish. And to quote an old post from this site: "Malaysians walk as slow as they think".

15 months A levels

How do I plan my time for doing past year questions?

I joined early July this year. Im taking phys/math/chem/german As.
My school finished AS syllabus on october and we have already started our A2 topics. I just worry that I won't have time to complete all my PYQs. Before 5th May next year I must have finished all my past year questions for As, and then I will have about 4 months left to complete A2 syllabus & PYQs for A2. Starting A2 past years after AS exams sounds crazy and risky.

How do I do this? I know many malaysians are doing the 18months or 15months programme, please advise me. How much time did you need for Past years and how did u do it since the syllabus is basically designed for 2 years

A Levels Chem Lab how do I even finish the paper

Usually in 2 hours I would finish all the experiments but I would never ever have time to complete all the questions because there are so many experiments to do and they take a lot of time. I would take 1hr 30m or 1hr 45m to finish the experiment and the rest just pondering at the questions because I honestly don't know what they're asking for!

I feel like I know my theory well (not very well, but well) but it's just that the questions are just super weird. Sometimes they would ask to find the mol for this and the concentration for that but it's never specific as to which solution they're referring to. Because for one solution F1 there's the one I used for titration, the diluted one and the original one. Which one?

Can someone out there who's been through all of it, please tell me what's the trick? Do I have to really understand the question? Do I have to understand the topic extremely well? Also how do I manage my time well? How long should I spend to finish all the experiments and how long should I spend answering all the questions? I hate hate hate using the pipette it takes up so much of my time because I could never pipette exactly to the marked point >:(

Using UA asasi results for UK universities

Is it true?

I read a tweet a long time ago about a guy who got accepted to do civil engineering in the UK. Can't seem to find it now though. I don't remember which university foundation programme he was from, but he said that you can use UM/UiTM/IIUM foundation results to apply for UK universities through UCAS, just that you can't apply to russell group universities like Oxbridge, imperial, lse etc.

Pretty shocking because I was never told this. I also just learnt yesterday that program matrikulasi KPM is also recognised by top universities in the world. Is there a catch to it or somthing?

Post-SPM: Need advice on pre-u and university..

Hi. So UPU just opened today and I've yet do to my permohonan. I was an SPM 2018 candidate and I plan to apply for a foundation programme at a public university. Ever since form 4 my interest has always been in maths but my mum strongly suggests that I take either engineering/accounting/architecture instead of pure maths because they offer greater prospects in terms of career and salary. The thing is, I don't think I will enjoy any of them (judging from what I've read online) and I already dislike architecture.

Also: My mum wants me to go to IIUM because unlike other public universities IIUM actually guarantees an on-campus accommodation for their students throughout their years of studies

So..what do you think? Should I just trust my mum's judgement?
