They've worked with Tun M, their biggest enemy for decades (and again now), so working with PAS again isn't impossible.

Usually, many ktards here think highly or better of Sinkie Malays compared to the local ones, claiming that they're more 'progressive'.

However, with the recent Israeli-Palestinian situation, some people are shocked about their fervent support for Palestine, no matter how irreligious they are.

Some Sinkies and ex-Malaysian Chinese have complained openly and vocally on social media about the Sinkie Malays. Baru semalam, I saw on reddit about how they're 'Jihadi terorrists living next door at your HDB flat'.

Do ktard nons here feel the same way?

SINGAPORE — Singapore authorities told the Israeli embassy to remove a post made on its Facebook page on Sunday (March 24) that Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam called an "astonishing attempt to rewrite history".

The post was “insensitive”, “inappropriate” and “completely unacceptable” as it carried the risk of undermining safety, security and harmony in Singapore, he said.

"I was very upset when I was told about it," he told reporters at a doorstop on Monday. "And the Ministry of Home Affairs spoke with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday and said that the embassy has to take the post down immediately, and they have taken it down."

The now deleted post on the Israeli embassy in Singapore Facebook page stated: “Israel is mentioned 43 times in the Quran. On the other hand, Palestine is not mentioned even once.”

The post went on to say that archeological evidence such as maps, documents and coins show that Jewish people are the indigenous people of Israel.

"This post is an astonishing attempt to rewrite history," Mr Shanmugam said. "The writer of the post should look at UN (United Nations) resolutions, see if Israel's actions in the past few decades have been consistent with international law before trying to rewrite history."

Calling the post “wrong at many levels”, Mr Shanmugam said it could have inflamed tensions as the anger from the post could spill over to the physical realm, and endanger the Jewish community in Singapore.

While he said that MHA usually does not intervene in the online posts made by embassies here out of respect for their sovereignty, MHA told the Israeli embassy to take down this post after discussion with MFA because of “potential consequences” for communities in Singapore.

He added that the post had “selectively (pointed) to religious texts” to make a political point and it was "even worse" that the post made use of the Quran for this purpose.

“Often embassies say and put out post statements which we may disagree with but we generally don't intervene because they represent sovereign countries they have autonomy but where it affects the safety and security of people in Singapore, the peace and harmony that we enjoy, we do and we will intervene," he said.

Earlier on Monday, Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan similarly addressed the Israeli embassy’s post, stating: “It is highly inappropriate to refer to sacred texts to make political points. We have made this clear to the Embassy which has taken the post down.”

Dr Balakrishnan was speaking while making his way back from his trip to the Middle East, where he visited Israel and the Palestinian Territories.He was accompanied by a delegation including five Members of Parliament: Mr Alex Yam, Ms Nadia Ahmad Samdin, Ms Rachel Ong, Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim and Mr Gerald Giam from the Workers’ Party.

Looking at the state the country is in today, we can’t deny that life pre-GE14 was much more peaceful, the economy was actually decent etc. Of course 1MDB, GST etc was a big hoo haa in those years, but at least Bijan knew what he was doing. looking back, things weren’t as bad as it seemed.

racial relations weren’t as bad as they are now. even in /k, there weren’t much racist threads and comments compared to now. bossku’s 1Malaysia was actually a beautiful concept. the recent KK mart incident and all the nonsense from all the politicians is just causing more trouble for Malaysia (and for the nons who are scared of PN gaining more support, there’s that too )

He was of the opinion that the coalition's decision makers - he's not one of them - have a time table and he has no reason to doubt the transition will happen.

"There's no reason to think otherwise, and I don't think we should add salt on it. I think adding salt is the job of journalists and leader writers and not politicians," he said.

On PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's (above) habit of associating DAP with socialist and communist agendas, Lim said the former was bent on demonising his party.

"Lenin, Stalin, Mao Zedong, Kim Il-sung and Fidel Castro would turn in their graves if they knew about Hadi associating socialist leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Nelson Mandela, Harold Wilson, Tony Benn and Bob Hawke with communism.

"I think Hadi is ignorant of the truth. He demonises DAP and that’s the problem," he said.

In hindsight, she was right. Working with Mahathir was a disaster for PH1.0. To this day i'm surprised that they actually worked with one of the people they criticised the most. Sheraton happened eventually anyway.

Sangeet-Kaur-mahathirPETALING JAYA: Sangeet Kaur Deo, daughter of the late Karpal Singh, has voiced her reservations over the naming of Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the prime ministerial candidate.

Disagreeing with the move, she said the fact that the opposition had “no one else” to choose to be prime minister showed its lack of long-term strategy.

“The focus should always be on policies and principles (not personalities) and leaders must be groomed to ensure continuity.

“While it may be an act in desperation, as was our coalition with PAS at one point, will we be open to working with Najib (Prime Minister Najib Razak) one day, should desperate circumstances demand?” she asked in a statement.

PH yesterday confirmed Mahathir as its prime ministerial candidate should it win the next polls.

It also named PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the candidate for deputy prime minister.

The announcements were made at the PH convention in Shah Alam.

Sangeet said the argument that working with Mahathir was only to ensure change no longer holds water.

“He will be PM all over again. Introducing the rebirth of Mahathirism.”

Sangeet also questioned the likelihood of jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim taking over from Mahathir, who was supposed to only be an interim prime minister until Anwar became eligible.

Sangeet, who is with DAP, also said that Mahathir’s apology over the Internal Security Act (ISA) and other wrongdoings during his tenure as PM was done half-heartedly.

“This is not about forgiveness. This is about accountability. Persons in positions of power should be held accountable for their actions.

“Equally, he should be too, especially since the opposition has vowed to revamp the Attorney-General’s Chambers once in power, there should be no double standards about who should be investigated.”

She pointed out that the leaders in the opposition had remained silent in the face of Mahathir’s recent “apologies”.

“Judging from that, should we also expect silence from them during his forthcoming reign, should we take Putrajaya.”

Sangeet added that DAP had always been the voice against abuse of power, freedom of the press, independence of the judiciary, sanctity of our institutions and other issues.

“DAP, I can’t hear you,” is how she ended her statement.
