Really? I was still in primary school in the 90s.. So i dunno what Tun M did..

But heard people say Tun M is the biggest culprit that cause Malaysia to lag behind and not become Singapore?

What did Tun M during his 90s? What did Singapore did? What was different? Why both countries now soo different?

Learn English? Learn Mandarin instead..

Mandarin is new world lingua franca. China will surpass USA and obviously UK as the world's largest economy in less than 10 yrs...if any of the ASEAN countries want to do business with China, need to learn Mandarin...

For those who know both English and Mandarin fluently, I respect you...for those who dont and considering either one, choose Mandarin first, then only English...

In fact, I see a growing trend of foreign and local MNCs looking for Chinese speaking employees to deal with the chinese market. Some even set up a department specific to handle china...

So besides Malay, as a Malaysian, need to know Mandarin.. Send your kids to SJK ©, go for Mandarin class tuition..Not saying should forget English totally..best is ability to understand all 3 languages..

A friend of mine, Manager, already bought new BMW 3 series with 9 years loan...Damn have to work for another 9 years to pay the car...

Then when married, need a new house..35 year loan..damn now not only car, but house..

He currently got debts at 60% of his income, so forever cannot escape the rat race.

Meanwhile me no debt, if i want to quit tmr I can quit with alot of money to sustain me for 5 years without having to slave off..

Kecian people these days..kena conned to buy things they dont need, to impress people who dont care..

I revised my expenses to try to get a Civic Type R instead from just a Civic 1.5 TCP after one ktard showed me a good deal

Net salary (after EPF and Sosco revised) + part-time income = RM4,725

I decided to move back to my parents house in the meantime if i get Civic Type R.

Car (9 year loan) - RM3000
Petrol (minimal use of the car, only when outing with friends/amois/aweks) - RM300
LRT - RM100
Food (lunch only, assuming RM15-RM20/lunch) - RM400
Telco (don't need a lot since workplace got wifi, house got wifi) - RM80
Others - RM500

Total Expenses - RM4380

Savings = RM300+- :thumbsup:

I think its a pretty good deal. I get my beloved Type R, and I still got extra money to take it out and go for outings. I am currently in my early 20s, below 25 years old. Am I living it correctly?

Why ah? So weird like the duration is the same at 30 mins, but somehow feel taking the ktm is more tiring than lrt or mrt?

Is it because of the seats? The aircon quality? Overall experience? The people inside the ktm different from people inside lrt or mrt?

Im sure we all have secrets and information of our friends through chats, videos, pics. I just heard story, a good friend of ours just blackmailed another good friend of ours. They both used to be in our geng, quite close to each other, always like to talk cok and reveal what they do to each other in whatsapp and 1v1 conversations.

But around 5-6 years later, they become enemies and competitors. So that friend just backstab the other using whatever they shared (pics, videos, chats) 5 years ago..

You never know when your good friend become your worst enemy when situation changes...

Hiring agency in SG threaten my friend

My friend initially agreed to a hiring recruitment firm on a position verbally last month, Then last week, he found better offer also in SG who pays more and with better working condition.

BUT, when he emailed the recruitment firm and say he will decline them and go for the 2nd option, he was threaten with an email in respond saying that they wasted resources and time to apply employment pass for him. And they will not decline the EP so my friend could apply for another EP with the new employer.

The problem is, my friend DID NOT sign the offer letter from the recruitment firm, just a verbal agreement through the phone. The hiring firm applied the EP before my friend signed the offer letter. So, there is no contract and my friend has no obligation whatsoever.

My friend is currently contacting the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore to resolve it.

This recruitment firm thinks he can bully my friend?! Really disrespectful.

It advertised that candidates who got selected will be rotated in HSBC's investment banking department here in the KL office. Not sure how true is it.

Bank Negara - Supervision Department - Associate
Job Scope: Supervise foreign and local commercial banks and insurance companies to ensure they adhere to the regulatory frameworks set out by the Central Bank

Khazanah - Investment Department - Associate
Job Scope: Depending on sectors assigned, evaluate and monitor investment opportunities using financial modelling techniques. Basically investment banking.

The job scope are translated in layman's terms.

Its a dilemma right now for me becoz both positions seem good. What are the exit opportunities for both? I don't have a definite pathway in the future but would want a good foundation to start my footing.

Established companies or Startups?

Hi all, I am 22 yrs old, who recently graduated with a degree in finance.

I am currently job hunting and have applied for a few companies.

But the diliemma is, should I join established companies like PwC, EY, Maybank, or a startup with a product/service that I truly believe in?

The startup has recently acquired Series A funding and they are hiring executives. I might be an early employees of the startup but the startup has yet to gain traction in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, I have some offers from big companies who pays quite well for fresh graduate, but I might not like the things I do.

I am taking risks if I work for a startup that might go very well and go on to receive multiple fundings and become the next Grab or Lazada, or fail 90% of the time statistically.

Or I can accept a decent paycheck at big established companies and slowly climb the ladder.

Pls advise
