If the RTS Link eventually experiences severe overcrowding similar to the Shah Alam LRT3, it will be remembered as a consequence of the 2019 cost-cutting decisions made under LGE tenure as Finance Minister.

At the time, the project cost was reduced from RM4.93 billion to RM3.716 billion, with major scope changes like RTS from using MRT system downgrade to LRT system. This also add additional new LRT depot. While the reduction saved around RM1 billion, the long-term trade-offs may outweigh the short-term financial savings. Downgrade to LRT will constraints the future expansion and capacity.

Today, even reinstating the deferred LRT3 scope is estimated to cost around RM1 billion per station.

In my view, this might be the last blow of attack due to the PH 1.0 poor decision making. Really penny-wise pound foolish.

JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional hopes its victory in Johor will provide momentum for the coming state assembly elections in Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, and eventually the 16th general election, says BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“Hopefully, this victory will set off a ‘blue wave’ in the other states,” he said in a press conference at Johor Umno headquarters tonight following BN’s landslide victory.

Zahid said the unofficial results of the Johor polls reflected public confidence in Johor BN chairman Onn Hafiz Ghazi’s state government.

He said BN would monitor the performance of all its elected representatives to ensure issues affecting the public receive attention.

“We will not boast of our victory, but be mindful. We will govern better. All the promises in our manifesto will be fulfilled,” he said.

Zahid also said that the Johor government would continue working closely with Putrajaya to ensure its development agenda for the state is implemented effectively.

“This cooperation will bear fruit not just for the state government, but also the federal government,” he said.

Earlier tonight, Zahid claimed that BN had won 40 of the 56 state assembly seats at stake. A simple majority of 29 seats is needed to form the state government, while a two-thirds majority is reached at 38.

Zahid credited BN’s landslide win to Onn Hafiz, describing it as his “official and personal success” as menteri besar.

Malaysia politics landscape is quite unique, you see red wave in the GE with PH, you then see Green Wave with Pas, and now you see blue wave coming back.

However, if BN want to wave to continue, they really need to get rid of Akmal.

Kelantan police: No evidence linking Rohingya community to serious crime

KOTA BHARU, July 9 — Kelantan Police have so far not detected any involvement by the Rohingya community in serious criminal activities in the state.

State police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said police records showed that more than 5,000 members of the Rohingya community in Kelantan held United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards, while an estimated 8,000 others were undocumented or in detention.

“We are monitoring their activities. So far, we have not detected any involvement of the community in serious crimes. About 500 criminal cases involving the community have been recorded, but most of them are related to disputes among themselves.

“The most serious case recorded was rape, which was reported to have occurred within the community itself,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Commenting on reports about the appointment of Rohingya community leaders in the state, he said it was not recognised by any authority in the country.

“That was just an internal arrangement within their own minority community. They are foreign refugees and are not recognised by the authorities, including the the Registrar of Societies,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Yusoff said police would collaborate with local authorities to conduct operations and monitoring to prevent the misuse of business licences by foreigners. — Bernama

Maybe the police are referring to manslaughter, but Rape is a serious crime.

My view on Johor Election

BN's strategy has been fairly effective in some areas. Bringing Lee Chong Wei (LCW) into the campaign could help attract some Chinese voters. Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz has also built credibility by following through on his promises. His surprise inspections at the customs complex as early as 4 a.m., together with measures such as installing CCTV to monitor whether counters are unnecessarily closed or officers are absent, have shown a "walk the talk" approach. These actions have increased public confidence in his leadership.

One opportunity that been missed is MCA's approach under Wee Ka Siong. Since MCA currently holds only two parliamentary seats, it arguably had little to lose by taking a stronger stance against figures such as Anwar Ibrahim, Akmal Saleh, or even PN. Instead, it has chosen a relatively save move? strategy. If the roles were reversed and PH were reduced to just a handful of seats, it is easy to imagine them already rallies at street and demand reforms demand this demand that...MCA abit...play too save..

And Akmal's political support mainly comes from Malay voters while Wee Ka Siong's support is largely from Chinese voters, so no conflict. MCA can fight and claim his the defender of one race against another. That could be seen as a missed opportunity, cant think why he didnt go for that.. However alot of MCA really did a good job i see potential win back due to their own hardwork instead of the party base.

PH, on the other hand, has effectively used the 1MDB issue to justify the cost reductions for the LRT3 project, arguing that the losses from 1MDB alone could have funded several rail projects. Anthony Loke has also scored political points through initiatives such as the MADANI Bus programme, community gotong-royong events, and flood mitigation efforts in collaboration with Onn Hafiz. The RM30 monthly unlimited bus pass is another policy that provides tangible benefits, especially for students, senior citizens, and regular public transport users.

One area where PH seems to have missed an opportunity is the Johor E-ART project. The government announced the project several times, but it appeared to be delayed, possibly because of UKAS or the Ministry of Finance?. Had it been delivered earlier, it could have been a significant advantage for PH in Johor.

Looking ahead, I believe any party that commits to building a fully covered pedestrian walkway between the Johor CIQ and Woodlands Checkpoint would gain substantial public support. 300k daily commute we are talking about

and potential this time we can see the rise of a smaller party.

This is just my personal view, other might feel different. However

let vote for the better of Bangsa Johor
