About the Honor 8X thin bottom chin

Honor Malaysia — Fri, 12 Oct 2018 12:29:37 +0800

A lot of people have been amazed by the 91% screen to body ratio of the Honor 8X that launched recently. In the Honor 8X launching, the head of Honor Malaysia, Mr. George Zhaozhiwei has explained a little bit about how’s the Honor 8X can have the thin chin and go to 91% screen to body ratio. So today we are here to discuss about the COG and COF.

COG (Chip on Glass) vs COF (Chip on Film)

[attachmentid=10066742] [attachmentid=10066745]

COF is still using the similar structure with COG but just the position of chip is on the film. When the chip is on film and the film can be bend down and the bottom chin of the phone will be narrow. But why there is still a lot of phones using COG technologies? The most convincing reason is the cost, because the cost for COF is higher than COG.

Of cause there is more update technologies, COP (chip on plastic) but we are not discuss it here because the cost is too high to use it on mid-range phone.
