just got into a minor accident

hi, i had my first car accident today and its a minor accident, everyone was safe and my car and the other car got body damages (scratches etc)

we discussed and after back and forth we determined it was my fault cause the other person was in my blindspot and have the right of way (it was on the roundabout) we decided to setel tepi and i paid few hundreds to the other person and then apologized.

now i felt like an idiot. am i an idiot for deciding to setel tepi? i talked to my friend and he said i got away with paying less as the damage to the other car looked more than what i paid.
