Employment bond for fresh grad role

Hi LYN,

What is your thought on employment bond for fresh grad / MT roles? If you were a freshie, would you take it or walk away? Say the bond is 3 years and if you resign after you start, you have to pay back 1 year salary.

Can you negotiate this with HR or not?

I have reservations on the employment bond because for freshie, we might change our mind quickly after starting in the new role, and might want to try employment elsewhere. Or you have parallel applications and you need time.

Thanks.

Is investment banking a sunset industry?

Hi all,

Is investment banking a sunset industry, in Malaysia and/or globally?

It seems like our big 4 local banks are moving away from IB to focus on transaction banking and commercial banking. Detractors say that IB golden days are over and there's less ECM/DCM/M&A and corporate finance activity nowadays. Then they also say that equity research is a cost to the bank, so it's being cut down as well.

So, if you can choose to join capital markets or equity research today, which will you go for and why?

To all the IBank sifus, please do leave a comment.
HLB MA vs GT

Hi,

This question is for people already in HLB or have experience interviewing for HLB. What is the difference between the GT vs MA program? Is the salary package different? What makes you choose one over the other? From what I've seen, the MA program seems more rewarding.

https://www.hlb.com.my/en/personal-banking/...ee-program.html

https://www.hlb.com.my/en/personal-banking/...te-program.html

Recently some poster also said HLB MA / GT is getting 5k basic salary.

How true is that?
