http://forum.lowyat.net/ Fri, 19 Jun 2026 09:12:14 +0800 FeedCreator 1.7.2 http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4760557 Hey guys, need to seek some opinions on solving the issue I faced recently.<br /><br />I have rented an apartment to a guy almost 2 years ago, and last few days he suddenly told me that he wanted to move out.<br /><br />The problem is he wants to get his deposit back immediately without informing me 1 month before because we already agree that either one of us should give 1 month time when one of us intend to terminate the rental.<br /><br />For example, the rental starts at 15th of Jan, and he told me want to move out at 31st of Jan, then he told me he wants to take all his deposit (1+utility fees) back around 15th of Feb. And I already told him that he should inform me 1 month before he wants to move out, it makes sense right? Then he keep arguing with me that why he should pay the rental half more month and keep insisting he rugi.<br /><br /><br />There are few important things I need to mention before seeking for opinion from you guys:<br />1)We didn&#39;t sign any agreement as he don&#39;t want it and I also trust him at first.<br />2)He still owes electric + water bill for around RM400, which he told me that he will pay about a month ago but he didn&#39;t until now. (TNB already keep messaging me and call me every week)<br />3)I haven&#39;t check the condition of my house yet.<br /><br /><br />What I did was I tell him that he should rent the house until end of Feb (1 month time as we both agreed before he moves in), and will only give back the remaining deposit in March if everything is fine.<br />For the 1 month period of time I think it is reasonable so I have enough time to find a new tenant, but this is just my opinion and I think most people do this also.<br /><br />Sorry for the long post but what will you do if you was me?
