Anyone here has experience purchasing from Amazon US? What kind of goods are better than purchasing locally? From a mild research, I found that some electronic gadgets like gaming notebooks are actually superior to Msia's even when factoring in taxes and shipping costs.

I plan to grab myself an ebook reader, preferably thin bezel, must have Wifi connectivity and capable of reading pdf and various text documents. I currently have my sight set on Kobo Forma.

Usually what kind of websites offer good deals? How's the shipping generally? thanks

Dear all, nice meeting u guys. Im thinking of leaving my current job as a mechanical engineer. Am interested in AI, machine learning specifically and web development. However, don't feel like pursuing a full-fledged degree/diploma, due to duration and im not ruling this option out however.
Any short/diploma/degree courses recommendation? Any academic institution to recommend? Thanks

Port in a number as a subline

Greetings. Recently, I asked maxis CS about porting in another prepaid number from another telco to this talk and surf plan(legacy one, main lines@rm38) as a subline. He started to give out nonsense talk whereby it is "not doable". He even had the audacity to shift the blame towars me, telling me my plan is legacy, currently all plans are coupled with data allocation, shall I insist to port in to maxis, I can only opt for standalone main line(either the cutthroat rm98 plan or rm30 flex), instead of being a slave line to the rm38 talk n surf main line.

Then I told him, either you do or you don't(port my prepaid line from another telco as a subline to this maxis main line), dont pretend as if you are handcuffed, dont play victim card and that im asking for the impossible, as if im the one coercing you instead. What im asking for is merely a few computer clicks from their server/system/database/software. Of course, I refused to believe to be tricked and hypnotized by their crap. Im still investigating whether is it against the MNP laws for maxis to refuse to demote the newly ported in postpaid/prepaid line to the the subline of the mainline O desire. If the above allegation is true, then Maxis is contravening the law, refusing me as a customer from exercising my right.

Their intention of doing so? Obviously ARPU.

The only reasons im keeping this legacy plan is because
1) I get the convenience of paying after use(no upper limit), credit/quota wont run out requiring me to refill half way thru, basically confinements of prepaid.
2) it is cheaper than other maxis offerings? Perhaps...

Im so dumb to not keep track and look at offerings from another telco... Should I try my luck again at Maxis Center, run amok & pester them? Or go further, lodge skmm/mcmc complain if they refuse to add the subline I desire to my main standalone line? Honestly, im more inclined towards total migration of all my lines to another telco if coverage is not a major concern.

i prioritize talk over anything(including the rest of the sublines), i can even survive on 500MB. 1GB is da sweet spot for me. Sms? Who uses sms these days... While im at it, could u guys recommend me cheapest available postpaid plan? The optimum deals that could give me the most value in term of voice/talk minutes below RM30. Prepaid plan is a no go for me, too much hassle, had to refuel halfway thru when voice minutes or credit used up. I want to make calls to my heart's content and pay afterwards.

Ive been lurking this forum for a few months, it saddens me, unfortunately, most of those who are unlucky with plans/deals that are unfair chose to remain silent, live with it and put up with the oppression by telco. Imo, this is not a healthy phenomena.

Root device w/o update from external storage

Description: ive done some reading, the latest update from TM (last november) restricted access to 3rd party apps and flashing option. In the latest firmware, the stock browser app disabled download by directly clicking the link. The workaround is "long-press"->"save-link". However, play store installed using [@ckpv5] method will never work as the app does not have access to system partition.

Another change in the latest firmware is that the recovery mode no longer has both "update from backup" and "update from external storage" options. Regarding this aspect, no solution can be found yet as of this moment.

I highly suspect one can still root and flash desired firmwares onto it. Those 2 options might even be hidden, probably with the right password, they can still be brought back.

In the past, there has been attempts to sideload apk via adb debugging. I read that one may do [@bsb85my] method by debugging via wifi. Back in 2016, there's been similar guide on androidrepublica website, however, how does the stb and pc connect btwn the 2 was not specified, unsure either usb or wifi. Ive enabled usb debugging, how does it continue from there? Is the bootloader locked in the latest update? Does the device even connect to PV using USB male2male data transfer cable?

Online Scamming Targetted at Seller

This is what ive experienced just a few days ago. I post something at mudah for sale, then one fella claim he's working overseas, and then he "credit-europe" gate me.

That fella came prepared. He 1st fished me out from the mudah chat page by asking me to whatsapp him, so i did. Then he pretend to be "interested" in the item, it's an android powered IOT item. He then proceeded to ask me dealing method, if i cover shipping cost and whatnot. From there, i know where he wants me to send the parcel. Then i proceed to ask how would the software of the item be preferred, he did not respond at all. Just when I was wondering why he did not respond to me if he wants apps installed or factory restored, all of sudden he asked to lower price abit, and the deal was made. I then disclosed my name, acc number and email address... Then came along a carefully and meticulously doctored scripted standard template email sent to me, asking me to bank in 4 figure sum of money to him instead. The text reads somewhat like his bank's minimum transaction amount is 4 figure RMxxxx amount and that the transaction (the min. amount and item price) has been made, the money has been deducted from his account by his bank and put on hold, whereby I need to bank in him the min transaction RMxxxx instead to unlock the transaction, so i get his RMxxxx + selling price.

This is the moment i realise Im most likely conned, but not sure about it. 1st sign, why should I bank in him instead when im the seller? 2nd, why is the currency is RM instead of his country's own? 3rd, why would a proper bank or money agent dont have their own email servers? The email sender's address ends with @gmail... However, I actually believed there's still ray of of hope he's a serious buyer since he operates(send whatsapp messages) on midnight, making it seem like he's indeed on different time zone... Then I approached my bank to verify, that's when everything is explained. Ive since blocked him on whatsapp.

In this incident, my bigggest mistakes were breaking out from mudah chat system and give our personal particulars blindly.

Now my name, bank acc, h/p number is exposed. Would he seek vengeance on me for discovering his real motive? Am i safe?

No, the aim of this thread is not about taking action on him, i dont have resources for that. Im here for awareness purpose so that others can benefit from my experience and to seek advice on how i can protect myself from the scammer.

Do u guys have similar experience? What are the signs that tell one is a scammer? How do u fish them out?
