Design and Optimization of UHF Radio-frequency Tag

University / Institute	UNIVERSITI TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN
Project Title	Design and Optimization of UHF Radio-frequency Tag Antennas at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman
Research Center/Lab (optional)	Center for Communication Systems and Networks
Website URL for the Research Center/Lab (optional)	http://www.utar.edu.my/cv/index.jsp?cv=lim...qPageId=aboutMe

Start Date	Aug 01, 2018
End Date	Jul 31, 2021
Funding Agency	UTARRF 2018
Contact Nam / Email(s)	Lim Eng Hock / limeh@utar.edu.my

Contact Phone(s)	0126585618
Nationality Requirements on Candidate(s)	Open to all nationalities
Description	Description:
Rapid developments of radiofrequency technologies have brought about a big leap in the advancement of tag antenna design. As a key part of the radio-frequency identification (RFID) system, tag antenna has received much attention because it can affect the system performance significantly. Since a tag is usually attached to an object, its antenna size must be made compact enough. Modern UHF RFID tag antennas are required to be compact and usable in complex environment. Designing a tag antenna involves tradeoffs between impedance matching, antenna gain, and circuit size. So, optimization is always a must. The aim of this project is to design and optimize far-field RFID tag antennas using different types of microwave resonators for some specific applications.
Location:
UTAR Sungai Long Campus, Malaysia.
Basic Monthly Allowance:
RM 3300.00 (The candidate must have a Master degree. Candidate with first class honors can apply for tuition fees waiver)
Pre-requisite Degree:
MEng/MSc and BEng/BSc (CGPA>3.0) in a field related to Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, Engineering, and Physics.
General Requirements:
• Good command of English.
• Able to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated and independent.
• Good track records in journal publications (an added advantage).
• Highly committed.
Expected Outcomes:
Publications in Top ISI Journals.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates may submit their resumes to Associate Prof. Dr. Lim Eng Hock at limeh@utar.edu.my.

Phd Candidate for Deep Reinforcement Learning for Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation Optimization

Description
Energy efficiency (EE) has become an important criterion for designing the next generation (5G) communication systems. Conventional energy-efficient resource allocation algorithms generally consider the overall EE problem as nonlinear fractional program. This project aims to address the complicated problems with the aid of deep reinforcement learning.

Location
UTAR Sungai Long Campus, Malaysia

Monthly stipend
Up to RM 3,300 (Depending on Qualifications and Experience)

Pre-requisite Degree
MEng/MSc and BEng/BSc (CGPA>3.0) in a field related to Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering, IT or Computer Science.

General Requirements
• Excellent command of English
• Able to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated and independent
• Good track records in journal publications (an added advantage)

Expected Outcomes
Publications in ISI Journals and Top Conference Proceedings

How to Apply?
Interested candidates may submit their resumes to Assist.
