US court documents claim that Kazakh national Daniyar Nazarbayev, who is engaged to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's daugther, is a veteran swindler.

Court documents filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court claim that he conned his stepfather out of a US$20 million (RM62 million) condominium unit and gained entry to Columbia University using forged documents.

According to the New York Post today, court documents said Daniyar had forged documents to create the impression that he had graduated from a high school in Kazakhstan.

However, the newspaper's sources said, he went to a high school in Switzerland and did not complete his studies.

Columbia's records show that Daniyar is still on the alumni list and graduated in 2010. The New York Post reports that a Columbia spokersperson was contacted, but refused comment

The grifter who swindled his gloriously connected Kazakh stepfather out of a $20 million Plaza condo also conned his way into Columbia University, court papers charge.
Daniyar Nazarbayev — whose stepdad is the brother of Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev — landed at the college using “fraudulent and fabricated” paperwork from a high school he didn’t actually attend, the court papers say.
When applying, Daniyar allegedly claimed he had graduated from a high school in Kazakhstan.
He actually went to high school in Switzerland — and never graduated, sources said.

Even Daniyar’s influential last name isn’t real, the court papers say.
His actual surname is Kesikbayev. His mother, Maira, allegedly had his birth certificate changed after she married Bolat Nazarbayev in 2001.
The marriage was annulled last year.
Daniyar, now 24, graduated from Columbia in 2010. A knowledgeable source said that the allegations were reported to Columbia but that it was unclear whether school officials had taken action.
Daniyar’s name is still in the school’s alumni directory.
A Columbia spokesman refused to comment.
The allegations are part of Bolat’s suit against Maira and her son in Manhattan Supreme Court, where he has accused them of taking advantage of his trust to swipe the Plaza pad and help themselves to two other multimillion-dollar apartments on Wall Street.
Bolat says he has discovered that Maira has had several aliases — and that she’s wanted by Interpol and Kazakh authorities for crimes including kidnapping and extortion.
But Maira, 50, now lives in her son’s condo at The Plaza, a four-bedroom, 4,000-square-foot apartment with 3 1/2 bathrooms. It has been listed as a $68,000-a-month rental.
She was unable to be reached for comment. There was no phone number for the apartment, and The Post was not allowed by Plaza security to knock on her door last week.
Daniyar, meanwhile, is missing.
In court filings, Bolat’s lawyers said they have searched for him in five countries — including Malaysia, where he’s reportedly engaged to the prime minister’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, whom a source said he met at Columbia.
Bolat had been looking to buy a New York apartment in 2008, and Maira and Daniyar got him to give them power of attorney so they could close the deal without him present.
The suit says Daniyar was supposed to put the apartment in his stepdad’s name but added his mom’s. About eight months later, she sold it to Daniyar for $1, court papers say.

The former nephew of the president of Kazakhstan had 'great success' after he falsely claimed a placed at Columbia University and allegedly scammed his stepfather, the president's brother, out of a 'very nice' $20 million New York City apartment, according to a lawsuit.
Daniyar Nazarbayev's American adventure is a tale that puts to shame even the mighty Borat, the fictional Kazakh TV producer who lampooned the former Soviet republic on screen in 2006.
Mr Nazarbaye, 24, who fled from the US, is now reportedly engaged to marry the daughter of the prime minister of Malaysia, whom he met at the Ivy League university.
Bolat Nazarbayev, the brother of longtime president Nursultan Nazarbayev, is suing Daniyar Nazarbayev and his mother Maira Kesikbayev in a Manhattan court, claiming they are both international serial swindlers who stole a $20 million condo at the Plaza Hotel from him, the New York Post reports.
They also used a pair of luxury Wall Street apartment on his dime, Bolat Nazarbayev claims.
Bolat and Maira were married in 2001, but their union was annulled last after he learned his wife was wanted by both Kazakh police and Interpol for a variety of crimes, including kidnapping and extortion, the Post says.

While at Columbia, he used his good looks to woo Nooryana Najwa, the daughter of Malaysia's prime minister.
Bolat claims tasked Daniyar with finding a luxury apartment in New York for him and gave his stepson power of attorney in 2008 so he could sign the title for Bolat.
Instead of signing Bolat's name, Daniyar signed his mother's. Eight months later, she sold the ritzy condo to her son for $1, the lawsuit says.

The big spending habits of another member of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s family caught the attention of the Australian media again today – this time in Sydney.

In the ‘Private Sydney’ section of the Australian daily Sydney Morning Herald, columnist Andrew Horney called Rosmah the “first lady of shopping”, allegedly for spending A$100,000 (RM325,000) at a Sydney boutique.

Quoting Sydney designer Carl Kapp, the columnist reported that Kapp’s “biggest customer” had spent the astounding amount during a “private holiday” there “a little more than a fortnight ago”.

According to the column, Rosmah and Najib had during the holiday stayed at the A$20,000 (RM65,100) a night penthouse (right) at the newly-minted five-star Darling Hotel.

Headlined ‘Super Kerr Now a Model Citizen’, the column also reported that Rosmah had requested “valet parking for her limo” and was flying Kapp out to Malaysia for fittings of the clothes she ordered.

“(Kapp said) he was being flown to Malaysia next month with a collection of ‘toiles’ for (Rosmah) Mansor to try on before completing her massive order of 61 dresses, pants and tops.

“All made from the finest silk and in a variety of exotic colours and prints, Kapp said his new muse had ‘a very good eye for colour and she likes a lot of prints’,” the prominent daily’s lifestyle column reported.

PM’s wife ‘absolutely gracious’

Rosmah had recently been under fire for allegedly purchasing a diamond ring worth RM24 million, which she has vehemently denied, and for owning several Hermes handbags worth thousands of ringgit.

“In recent months, (Rosmah) Mansor… has been forced to deny reports she had bought a US$24 million diamond and a US$200,000 (RM621,000)-plus crocodile skin, bejewelled Hermes handbag,” said Horney in his SMH column.

“Kapp, who has a keen eye for such bags, having worked for Hermes, said he did not see any such handbag when he met her.”

The designer also added that Rosmah is nothing like her critics accuse her of being but was “absolutely gracious and easy to deal with”.

It noted that the alleged shopping spree of the PM’s wife was first reported on fashion blog Flockwriter, in a Jan 17 posting.

Kapp was quoted as saying that he had also met Najib, who was “relaxing, snuggling up and looking very happy together” with his wife.

“There, surrounded by samples, fabric swatches, sketches and Rosmah’s many attendants, who appeared to be gearing up for a New Year’s Eve party, Kapp was introduced to a casually-attired Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak,” it read.

Malaysiakini has contacted the PM’s office for a response.

Last October, Najib’s daughter, who was not named, was reported by the Western Australian of having spent lavishly at David Jones in Perth during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

The daily later issued a correction to the report, which cited anonymous sources, after Najib said that his daughter was not in Perth at the time.

KUALA LUMPUR: The stroke of midnight was a moment of pure joy for Leonard Chan when he became the first person to buy the latest iPhone 4S.

The 16-year-old from Cheras came alone to the KLCC Convention Centre for the launch of the iPhone 4S in Malaysia, organised by Maxis Bhd yesterday.

He had queued in line for 12 hours and it was his first iPhone.

However, he was no stranger to Apple gadgets. His passion for the brand started when his father gave him an iPod shuffle two years ago.

“I decided to finally get the iPhone 4S as the voice recognition feature is hard to resist,” he said.

Maxis employees provided excited buyers with popcorn and drinks to help ease the waiting blues.

When it was near midnight, everyone cheered and started the countdown.

The first top 40 in the queue of thousands of buyers were ushered to the big hall and greeted by Maxis Bhd VIPs.

For product specialist F.C. Loh, 24, there was a touch of poignancy to buying the iPhone 4S because it was the last gadget from Steve Jobs before he passed away.

Flight attendant Dhanyal Denis, 24, came with his girlfriend and a friend. They had waited since 9pm. He owned other Apple products and finally decided to buy the iPhone 4S.

In a press conference a few hours before the launch, Maxis Berhad executive director and chief executive officer Sandip Das said the company was delighted to bring the latest model of iPhone to customers, having brought the first iPhone to the country in 2009.

You read it well. The major labels plan to abandon the CD-format by the end of 2012 (or even earlier) and replace it with download/stream only releases via iTunes and related music services. The only CD-formats that will be left over will be the limited edition ones, which will of course not be available for every artist. The distribution model for these remaining CD releases would be primarily Amazon which is already the biggest CD retailer worldwide anyhow.

3 weeks ago we heard it for the first time and since then we have tried getting some feedback from EMI, Universal and Sony. All declined to comment.

The news doesn't come as a surprise to those who have been working in the business. In a piece that was published in a q&a with the Alfa Matrix people back in June 2011 in the 1st issue of "Matrix Revelations", our chief editor Bernard Van Isacker said the following when asked if a CD would still exist in 5 years: "Yes, but in a different format. Normal CDs will no longer be available because they don't offer enough value, limited editions on the other hand will remain available and in demand for quite a few more years. I for one buy only limited editions because of the added value they offer: a nice design, extra bonus gadgets, etc. The album as we know it now however will be dead within 5 years, if it isn't even sooner. I predict that downloads will have replaced the CD album within the next 2 years. I don't see that as something negative, it just has run its course, let's leave the space to limited editions (including vinyl runs for bigger acts) and downloads instead."

It's a move that makes completely sense. CD's cost money, even when they don't sell because there is stock storage to be paid; a label also pays money to distributors when CDs get returned to the labels when not sold and so on. In short, abandoning the CD-format will make it possible to just focus on the release and the marketing of it and no longer focus on the distribution (since aggregators will do the work as far as dispatching the releases to services worldwide) and - expensive - stock maintenance. In the long run it will most surely mean the end for many music shops worldwide that only stock and sell CD releases. In the UK for instance HMV has problems paying the labels already and more will follow. It makes the distribution of CDs no longer worth it.

Also Amazon will benefit from this as it will surely become the one and only player when it comes to distribution of the remaining CD productions from labels. Packaged next to regular album downloads via its own Amazon MP3 service it will offer a complimentary service.

The next monument to fall? That will be printed magazines as people will want to consume their information online where they also read most of the news.

(CBS) - It's a happy Friday indeed for "Friday" haters - as in that ridiculous song with absurd lyrics.

Rebecca Black's hit "Friday" was taken off YouTube today by her lawyers. At the moment, the YouTube page reads, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black."

The action comes about as the 13-year-old and Ark Music Factory fuss over who owns the rights to the annoyingly popular song. Ark Music is considered a "vanity" production company that aspiring artists - or in Black's case, parents of an aspiring artist - pay thousands of dollars for videos to be written, filmed and promoted. The company's tagline: "Get Discovered!"

"In March, Black's lawyers sent a letter to Ark Music, accusing the company of copyright infringement and unlawful exploitation of her publicity rights," said The Hollywood Reporter. Black claims she never got the master recordings she was entitled to by contract.

This probably wouldn't be an issue if "Friday" never went viral. (Cha-ching!)

Earlier this week, the song could have been rented for $2.99 on Ark Music's site. Black tweeted that she wasn't behind the decision to charge listeners. "Thanks for all the messages regarding the $2.99 fee added to Friday video, I have NOTHING to do with this!!" she said on June 14.

Until all of this is resolved, what's a Rebecca Black fan to do?!

My house is situated somewhere around bukit gasing at section 5 . Recently, there has been a very aggressive fiber optic cable laying activity around my place. At 3 - 4 o'clock i was about to park my car ( technically reversing ) into the house . Suddenly the workers drop the fiber optic cable drop onto my car , fortunately nothing serious happen but my car antenna is broken and an noticeable scratch on top the car . ( the worker somehow catch it b4 it fully drop ) . I did not file any complain against this incident because i know i will get ignored or they will just delay my complain , but i hope everyone can be aware that the cable laying activity can be very dangerous . Just try to imagine if there is a person under the cable .

p.s: is this the right place to post this ?

More than a quarter of women (28 per cent) claim that email and internet are disrupting their love lives, with hand-held devices particularly to blame.
Other factors which prevent couples enjoying intimacy include long working hours (cited by 55 per cent of women), tiredness (83 per cent) and being too busy (74 per cent).

One in ten women say their fear of pregnancy inhibits them in the bedroom, with one in five women admitting they shun contraception.

The survey found that on average British women have sex 1.4 times a week, but six in ten women aged between 25 and 34 would like a more active sex life.

Fifty-one per cent of women believe they reach their sexual peak in their 30s, but 66 per cent say they had their most sex during their 20s.

Two in three women (65 per cent) say their partners do not make enough effort in the bedroom, however, one in three women never initiate sex and always let their partner make the first move.

Four in ten women say it only takes a compliment to put them in the mood for sex, while one in three saying having more time to themselves would boost their sex life.

Perhaps disappointingly, more than a third of women say they have not felt sexy for at least a month and 14 per cent claim they have never felt sexy.
