{WTA} - Tablet laptops

Hi guys,

Need your feedback. I have to source for a tablet PC for my client and when I went to the PC fair in Midvalley last week, I realised that the tablet market has become very small (no thanks to iPad as most people would blame). I would still need a tablet for some work related programs though. In a nutshell, the requirements are as follows:-

1) Has to be a tablet with specifications similar to a laptop (ie Core i3 or i5, 500GB min HDD, etc) so that pretty much rules out netbook tablets such as the Acer Iconia
2) Has to be a Japanese brand
3) Runs on Windows 7 32bit or below so that rules out Android devices such as Asus Eee Pad Transformer
4) Price range between RM2,500 to RM3,500.

Any recommendations?

Connecting Iphone 3G to a PC

Hi guys,

I'm a new user in the Mac world and just got a Macbook and a Iphone 3G. Since my workplace uses plenty of PCs, I can escape the fact that I have to deal with the Mac and Windows world. After playing with the phone and Macbook for a few days, I have a few questions about connectivity that I hope I can depend on finding the answers here:-

1) Microsoft Exchange Server emails: I have been trying to set up my email account on the Iphone but everytime when it comes to the exchange account verification stage, it will always fail. I have tried configuring with my other Microsoft email accounts but still have the same exchange account verification failure. Am I missing something or is the Iphone able to be configured to receive Jaring based POP mails?

2) I am also using a PDA running on Windows 6.1 and have figured out a way to set up my PDA as a wireless modem using WMWifiRouter. But am I able to do it the other way round .... setting the Iphone 3G as a modem for a Windows PC?

Many thanks to all future contributors to this thread!

[addedon]February 18, 2009, 11:09 pm[/addedon]Anyone can help or experience the same thing?

Internet sharing problem

Hey guys, I`m facing a problem I`ve not encountered before. I normally use my Touch Diamond as a modem to connect my laptop to the internet. Whenever I use Internet Sharing, the message on my TD will show "Check ur USB cable" -> "Waiting network" -> "Connected". However, recently I couldn`t connect and the message on my TD stays at "Check ur USB cable". I swapped the TD with another one and the 2nd TD could connect. When I tried the 1st TD on another laptop, it could also connect ... which leads me to believe something is wrong with my laptop ... perhaps a missing driver? Anyone can tell me what I can do to rectify this? I`ve tried removing the Activesyn connection settings and re-created a new setting but still does not work.

P.S: ActiveSync could work like normal on the device. It`s only when I try to use Internet sharing that the problem appears.

[addedon]August 20, 2008, 6:37 am[/addedon]Anyone?

How to remove all contacts from a PDA phone

Ok, I had to go through this and surprisingly, not that many ppl knew how aside from performing a hard reset. Here's how u do it:

1) Go to File Explorer
2) Go to My Device, scroll down till u find a file titled "PIM"
3) Rename that PIM file to something else (ie PIMWHATEVER). Do NOT delete this file at this point of time else u`ll get an error message
4) Perform soft reset. Ur PDA will generate a new PIM file once it restarts
5) All contacts AND calendar notes are now removed from ur PDA. U may now proceed to delete the renamed PIMWHATEVER file.

Done!

P.S: Unless u`re really sure u want to lose ur contacts and calendar permanently (or copying ur contacts from ur SIM card) or can be recovered from sync-ing with ur PC, don`t do this.

WTA ~ Is there a Bluetooth receiver replacing VGA?

Hi guys,

I`m just wondering .... is there such a device (like a wireless mouse) where u have a doggle to jack into a USB port/VGA port? I`m thinking of buying a tablet PC for presentations and if such a wireless connection exists, it`ll allow me freedom of movement while presenting. Does such a thing or closest equivalent exist??

Need help on D810

Dear all,

It`s been almost 2 months since I got my D810 and all this while I`ve been experiencing a few .... issues with it that I hope you guys can help me with. Before I go on, I think it`s prudent that I tell u what`s in my unit now.

Unit: D810
OS: WM 6.0

Softwares that might affect the performance of the unit:
Spb Mobile Shell
CE Star III

The issues I`m facing now is:

1) Quite a few occasions ActivSync detects critical changes on my mobile device and I had to re-sync ALL my data back to my PDA. This means any contacts info that`s not sync-ed to my laptop would just go missing and not to mention all my shortcut dials in Mobile Shell would have to be re-set. What`s worse is the fact that a normal sync suddenly takes more than 10 mins to complete!

2) WMA files could not be played on my device. When I transfer a file to my memory card or even a short WMA clip directly to my unit, Windows Media doesn`t play the file. I`ve tried this with other files of different sizes and the only type of file it can play is video recording (recorded in MP4) done by my D810 itself. Also, I have TCPMP player installed and it also cannot play the WMA files. All I see is a pink smear on my screen but the audio component of the clip can be heard. What`s going on??

Hope someone can help me rectify these issues. I don`t even know whom should I refer to .... SIS or PDA Experts since this is mostly a software related issue. Thanks in advance for all the help!
O2 Atom Life or Dopod D810?

Dear all,

I can`t decide between the 2 PDA phones! In a nutshell, here`s the pros and cons of each phone

But first, the reason y I`m thinking of these 2 is because:
1) HSDPA phones (3.5G)
2) Ability to sync data with Microsoft Outlook (wanted to get the Nokia N95 but decided not to coz it lacks this critical feature. Need this phone to be a business phone)
3) Currently using P100, hoping to merge PDA, GPS and phone to one.

Dopod D810
Pros
1) In-built GPS
2) Cheaper by RM400 compared to the Atom Life (D810 retails for RM2,999)
3) Samsung processor conserves more energy

Cons
1) Slower processor (400 Mhz) and less flash RAM (128MB) compared to O2. Reliability issues especially when multi-tasking

http://www.dopodasia.com/global/SEA/produc...a_d810_fea.html

O2 Atom Life
Pros
1) Blazing fast processor (Intel 624Mhz) and 1G Flash RAM
2) Smaller, sleeker and lighter (looks better than the D810 anytime with better ergonomics)
3) Better multimedia capabilities (ie surround sound)

Cons
1) No GPS so need to get external module (more $$$)
2) Costs more (RM3,388)

http://www.seeo2.com/product/XdaAtomLife/t...eProductInfo.vm

Which would you pick?
