About Your Instructor:

Voon is the co-founder of the startup, Gieption Sdn. Bhd. He is the research leader of R&D team on Mobile App Developing and Artificial Intelligence. He has more than 6 years of experience in programming by using the different frameworks such as C, C++, C#, JAVA, Python, Dart, JavaScript, and etc. In the past 6 months, Voon has trained around 90 people in coding from zero knowledge to a developer. Currently, he is serving as a volunteer in engineering association, the IET, The Institution of Engineering and Technology working on the development of technology globally. In 2017, he initiated the program called "Why Not Coding" Initiative (WNC) in order to deliver the message of how important is technology in this 4th wave of industrial revolution.

Weekly Mentorship

Every weekend, we will have a lecture in our office. You can choose to attend either Saturday or Sunday session. In these sessions, we will have a clear lecturing session where it will review important concepts. The foremost, you can ask questions related to the session.

We believe that the easiest way to learn to programme is to set-up an objective. Therefore, we bring in the real app for you to build and you can learn the new skill while you are building the app.

What You’ll Learn

Week 1:

Programming Fundamentals Part I

We will start the course by introducing programming as well as some basic skills you need to master before we stepping into app development. We will introduce you the JAVA frameworks and what is Object Oriented Programming.

Week 2:

Programming Fundamentals Part II

After gaining insights from the first week, we will proceed to an intermediate level of programming skill you need to master such as iteration, creating objects and etc. We ensure we will provide a real-life example to be solved after every session.

Week 3:

Programming Fundamentals Part III

At last part of the fundamental, you will learn the advanced technique on JAVA frameworks such as Inheritance, Overriding, Polymorphism and etc. We will use the real-life example to let you gain a better insight into advanced technique.

Week 4:

Start-off with Android App Development

You’ll learn the basic of Android Studio in this lesson as well as building your very first app -- Currency Converter. You’ll learn how to use most of the important elements in developing your app such as Buttons, TextFields, Displaying Messages, Images and etc.

Week 5:

Advanced Android Features

After learning the basic features is time for you to learn some advanced Android features such as ListView, Recycler View, Downloading Images, Downloading Web Content, Processing JSON Data and etc. At the end of the session, you’ll be able to build your own app such as a Weather Forecasting App.

Week 6:

Permanent Data Storage

As a programmer, it is essential to understand the basic concept of the database, in this session you’ll be able to understand the necessary skill to master database learning and build your SQLite Databases as well as the Firebase. At the end of this session, you’ll be able to build a News Reader App.

Week 7:

Maps & Geolocation

We understand that the feature of maps and geolocation is quite essential to your business or project, therefore you’ll be able to learn the maps and geolocation feature at almost end of the course. Also, you will be building an app that works similarly with the Uber app, we will teach how Uber actually tracks rider and driver activity.

Week 8:

Last but not Least

For some of the cases, working with Bluetooth is important too. At the end of this course, you will learn how to work with Bluetooth as well as sending local notifications via your app to the users. Lastly, you’ll learn how to submit your app to Google PlayStore.

- No, there isn't any pre-requisite, we welcome attendees from all sort of different background. However, having basic computer knowledge and preliminary mathematics will ease the process of learning.

2. What should I bring during the workshop?
- You’ll need to prepare your own laptop with minimum 4GB RAM with an Android Smartphone and a USB cable.

3. Is this a free workshop?

4. What software is required to be pre-installed before the workshop?
- An installation guide of the required software will be sent to your email once confirm the attendance.

5. What is the date & time of the workshop?
- The participant can choose to attend either on Saturday or Sunday. You are not allowed to attend any of the other days arbitrarily once the registration has completed. The time of the workshop is from morning 9 AM to afternoon 4 PM. You are welcomed to stay back for another 2 hours for Q&A session.

6. Is there any replacement class if I accidentally miss any of the dates of the course?
- No, there will not be any replacement class after the end of every session. However, an online video will be sent to your email, you can always watch the video and ask questions in the upcoming session. You shall book another replacement class session, but an RM150 per session will be charged and the period of the workshop will be shorter.

7. Do I earn any certificate after the end of the course?
-Yes, a Cert of Accomplishment is given to every attended participant upon the completion of 4 or 8 sessions of the course.
