power supply surge prob

hi all..

i built a friend a new pc 2 weeks ago, but after two day hes having some sort of problem.it can be desribe as this..

during start up he encounter a msg like this:

power supply surge are detected during the previous power on. asus anti-surge was triggered to protect the system from unstable power supply unit.press f1 to run setup. press f2 to load default values..

*setup = bios

i haven't got time to see his pc by myself yet but i wanna ask y it happen, the possibilities and how to fix it..i have ask my fren to switch the fan, gpu, hard disk and dvd rom to other connection available ( what i mean is unattached the connection from power supply n then attached it back to the socket (at another wire) ) or just unattached and then attached it back but he f****** scared to that by himself ..total noob i can say..

his pc spec:

mobo: asus p7h55m
proc: intel g6950
2x2gig value ram
power supply: cooler master extreme power 550 watt
gpu: power color ati hd5770
other: 1 harddisk, 1 dvd rom, 2 12cm fan..
*standard setting, no overclock or whatsoever

my opinion
- i dont think that 550watts is not enough for that setup..my pc only use 430 watts wif ati hd 4850 + cpu/ram overclock but nvr encounter power problem..
*peak power consumption --> ati hd4850 = 110w while ati hd 5770 = 108 watt

- i know cooler master extreme is not that good psu but it is that ayam? power surge after 2 days..zzzz..
- i dont think i make an error when assembling his pc..it was running fine when i was there at his home..

any opinion will be much appreciated..thx.
