Hi,

Any sifu can advice me which one of these Asus WL-AM604G or Belkin F5D7634 modem+wireless router have the connect/disconnect function like those in Aztech modems. I mean no need to reboot the modem to get new IP. Just connect/disconnect thru webpage. Furthermore, is there any third party firmware that can be flash to D-link DSL2542B modem? Thanks.

Problems With My New Rig

Hi,

I just bought a custom build PC with the following specs:

Intel C2D 8400
Gigabyte EP43-DS3 mobo
2GB x 2 Kingston Value Ram
Seagate 500GB SATA HD
Gigabyte Radeon 4850 512 w/ Zalman cooler
LG DVD writer
Cooler Master Centurion 590 Casing
Gigabyte 550w power supply

Here is a list of my problems

1.	My PC is connected to my CRT monitor using DVI to VGA adapter. I find that the picture quality when playing divx movies is not clear. Viewed closely at the screen, it looks kind of ‘squarish’ or ‘jagged’. I tried playing the same movies using my old comp connected to the CRT monitor via VGA port and the picture quality is better, rather smooth and clear. Is this due to the conversion of digital to analog signal or something is wrong with my graphic card?

2.	My hard disk is quite loud when reading and writing. Sounds like someone is drumming inside my PC. Is the hard disk faulty or do I have a lousy PC casing. Another thing that annoys me is that when playing movies from the hard disk, the movies intermittent freezes for no apparent reason. I’m sure there is nothing wrong with the movies files coz I don’t face such problem when playing the same files directly from a pen drive or using my old comp.

3.	The rig is in my bedroom and it's rather noisy . I’m not just talking about the ‘drumming’ sound from my hard disk. The fan noise from the graphic card cooler is loud. Can someone recommend a quiet aftermarket cooler to go with the graphic card? Should I replace an aftermarket cooler for the CPU as well coz can’t really make out the noise level of the stock cooler as the noise from the graphic card cooler is overwhelming. Lastly, please comment on the Cooler Master Centurion 590 Casing.

Any advice or opinion is appreciated. TQ.
