Honor talked a lot about the audio being "An audiophile's dream". Many different phones have this same type of feature where you can change the sound of your music to replicate different environments. The Honor calls this their 3D Audio technology. When compared to other phones with this feature, the Honor is noticeably better.

The purity equalizer can be adjusted just like any other equalizer. Your music will sound good without ever being blown out. I've noticed in other phones turning the bass up will cause lots of distortion. This problem doesn't exist on my Honor V10

To use the Huawei Histen sounds effects, you must be using a pair of heads that are plugged in to your phone. This will not work when connected to bluetooth. I spent some time listening to all kinds of music through Play Music and I really like the way it sounds. It's probably the best sounding audio experience on a smartphone.

Mobile World Congress is the world's largest gathering for the mobile industry, organised by the GSMA and held in the Mobile World Capital, Barcelona, 26 February – 1 March 2018.

Huawei announced its first 5G chip early this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which will allow the company’s mobile devices to access the next generation of cellular networks, 5G.

The chip would appear to be a challenge to other manufacturers like Qualcomm and Intel. Qualcomm announced its own speedy Snapdragon X24 chip earlier this month, which should help prepare consumers for 5G while we wait for those higher network speeds to arrive, and is already working with a variety of carriers and device makers to install its X50 modem in upcoming devices. Last year, Intel announced its own 5G modem for connected devices like cars and drones, and announced last week that it has partnered with Microsoft, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to install 5G modems in their laptops by late 2019.

5G is the next generation of cellular networks, and it promises to be a considerable leap in speed beyond the current LTE networks that we have right now, but it’ll be a couple of years before we see widespread use.

Mobile phones has gone through many evolution since its introduction in 1973 by Dr. Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive. He made the first mobile telephone call from handheld subscriber equipment. The prototype handheld phone used by Dr. Cooper weighed 1.1 kg and measured 23 cm long, 13 cm deep and 4.45 cm wide.

Since then mobile devices has evolve into smartphones with a lot of high tech hardware & features. Long gone are the era of carrying two devices to use two different numbers as a lot of smartphones nowadays carries Dual SIM Card feature such as Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, LG, Motorola, etc..

Do note that Dual card feature is only available on dual SIM phones. When two SIM cards are inserted, only one SIM card can be set as the 4G/3G/2G SIM. The other SIM card slot only supports 2G networks. However on newer devices such as the Mate 9, both SIM card slot supports 4G/3G/2G SIM. You can also configure the default card for mobile data and phone calls according to your monthly plan.

Dual SIM Settings
You may go to Settings > Dual card management

In Singapore, the government already have abolished the 2G network so older phones with 2G Sim card slot will encounter problem utilizing their dual sim phone. Luckily I’ve changed my phone that supports 3G slot. The screenshot above is from my sibling's Mate 9. So the settings on other phones may differ. Cheers!

How to Enable VoLTE for Huawei Phone

Recently bought Honor V10 and realize this phone support VoLTE. Not sure what is VoLTE so i called Huawei customer service. Here is what i conclude:

What is VoLTE

VoLTE stands for Voice over Long Term Evolution. Unlike 2G and 3G calls, VoLTE is an end to end IP voice service which is routed through 4G network which would allow the following:

- High definition audio for better audio quality
- Faster browsing speed while on a voice call

It is important to note that the availability of VoLTE depends on the network operators in different countries/regions. Also, remember to check on the knowledge base parameter to see if the device model supports the VoLTE function. VoLTE support varies base on specific model.

How to enable VoLTE / Where to the Find the VoLTE option

VoLTE option can be found under 'Mobile network' on the device:

EMUI 4.0 -5.1 : Settings > More > Mobile Network
EMUI 8.0 : Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Network

However, the VoLTE option will only appear if the SIM card supports VoLTE. If the SIM card does not support VoLTE, the option will not be available although the phone supports the function. The example below shows two different SIM card inserted on the same phone seperately (Huawei P10), 1 SIM does not support VoLTE and another SIM supports VoLTE.

Private Space for Huawei Device

Recently found out that Huawei does have an interesting feature called PrivateSpace.

What is PrivateSpace?

You can create a PrivateSpace to store information you do not want to share with others. After the space is created, you can install and use apps, store photo/folder in this space and keep them away from the access of others.So basically is like having 2 user account and you can switch the account immediately using different fingerprint. For example, you want hide something from certain person, so you unlock the phone with "middle finger's print". So the phone will immediately switch to another user account without anyone knowing. How cool is that?! BTW, Private space only support on Mate 9 series, Mate 10 Series, Honor 8 Pro, Honor V10, Nova2, Nova 2 Plus, P10, P10 Plus (According to Huawei official Facebook)

How to set?

For Android 8

Open Setting and select Security & Privacy

Locate "PrivateSpace"

Select "Enable" to setup the setting

Insert a new PIN lock for your PrivateSpace. This PIN will be the password to enter your PrivateSpace.

After the above steps, you are all done. Lock your screen and enter your PrivateSpace PIN to enter Private space. Enroll another fingerprint to access this space.

To delete private space. Enter the same setting again on your main space and click delete on the top right corner.

Enter your main space PIN to delete the Private space

Now you can keep your "Private" things by just switching your fingerprint.

2. On the old phone touch “Old phone (send)

3. On the new phone touch “New phone (receive)
4. Select the recipient phone you wish to clone.

5. Choose which data you want to transfer
6. It will take a few minutes to clone the phone depending on the amount of data transferred.

7. Wallahhh you're done!

Huawei Nova 2i Face ID

Just received the latest update (B141) for my Nova 2i and guest what, they added Face ID into this software update! Called up to Huawei contact center on how to set up and they have provided me the detailed information! Do check it out.

They also suggested me to enable pickup motion control to wake the device without pressing the power key. Go to Settings > Smart assistance > Motion control > Pick up > Enable "Wake up device". What a wonderful combination!

Hi guys, i noticed after a while, our phone will start to slow down a bit & lagged. Thus i have found a way to make it run faster & smoother again

Optimizing your system
We can use the Phone Manager which built in by Huawei to make our phone run faster and optimize performance by just doing some simple steps. Go to your Home screen & select the Phone Manager app. After you open the app, it will conduct a comprehensive scan of your phone. select "Optimise" to optimize your phone performance. It seem simple but it WORK!

I have tried it & it does helps! Do share some of your experience on how to boost up your phone performance!
