Real Truth About Old Folks' Home

I have seen numbers of old folks' home or senior living centre around Petaling Jaya.

I have also asked people on sending their parents or elders to those centres. And what i got is the number negative comments win.

I have a friend who operates a nursing home or senior living centre in PJ. What he told me is something different from the others. Well, everyone will have their own reason when comes to promoting their business. But let me share on what he told me.

He said that his nursing home is not like those others who accept all kind of resident. If the elder is still mobile or still can walk and do his daily routine, then he will not accept on registering into his nursing home. Whereas for those who needs medical care, wheelchair-bound, bed-bound, or any other disability, those are the ones who really need the service of nursing homes. And my friend will be only accepting those residents who are in need. In other words, why would people send their parents to nursing home if they are still healthy and do their routines? There will be 1001 reasons behind that.

After I talked with him and understand the whole story, it's really opened my mind and heart on what is the purpose of nursing homes.

Home Burglaries

Burglary is not a new word anymore nowadays.

Federal police Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the number of car and motorcycle thefts had gone down over the last three years, however, the number of home burglaries and snatch theft has increased.

When burglary happens, we lodged police report. And due to lack of evidence and information, authorities can't help much on catching the thief.

That's where CCTV comes in. CCTV cannot help us to catch the thief lah... but at least we got the notification when there is unusual incidents happen. And from there we can increase the chance of catching the thief by calling the police or security guards, or even sound the alarm inside the house or call neighbors for help. And we can do more than what a normal CCTV do. Make it "smart" or smarter than the normal one.

It is surely better than have no security at all.
