Problem: Compaq Deskpro 2000 - 6233MMX

Thanks in advance... for reading, thinking, asking, giving solutions....

I'm trying to install a 40GB HD into Compaq Deskpro 2000 - PII 6233MMX.
The existing HD that come with this PC has a small separate partition to store its own setup program (something like bios setting). Without this existing HD I will NOT be able to access the "Bios".

My problem is when I plug the WD 40GB HD, the system failed to detect the HD. Knowing it is an old PC, I was trying to use the WD [Data Lifeguard Tools 11.2 for DOS] to install the overlay on the drive to support its full capacity. The main problem is the WD utilities tool is saying I need to switch on the Bios in order to install the overlay into the HD.

1. Anyone knows where can I "on" the bios? any jumper setting? I could not find it in the manual.
2. Strange enough, I can install win2k SP3 without any problem into this WD40GB, which means I can boot from CD and the win2k installer able to detect the HD.... but after installation, system failed to boot - Error: 1782 - Failed disk controller.
3. The term "Flash the ROM to default" = set the Bios to default setting?
